He could scarcely believe that there was now a black ‘Q’ on his chest. Taking a step back from King Anoushka he gave her a bow, though this time it was not as low as it had been in the past for he was now above her. “Thank you your Highness.” Over the last few years the two of them had grown into an acquaintanceship and he was grateful to her for her showing him around and the loops of those who were higher up in the courts. Through the fog that seemed to surround him, he heard the Queen mention something along the lines of, ‘it will be both amusing and interesting in having him as a Queen, do you not think?’Turning towards the Queen he replied, “It has been an honor serving you as one of your Kings, Your Majesty, but I am afraid that I can not stay content on merely being one of your Queens” His voice was clear as he issued his challenge.

Veldmair's expression slowly changed from one of pleasure and amusement to one of disbelief. "I beg your pardon?" he asked, low voice almost a rumble. "Excuse me, but did you just issue a challenge? To me? Before the mark on your chest has barely begun to cool?" He laughed, the sound derisive, and shook his head. "Oh, this is rich, utterly rich. You're challenging me for the Queenship of this Court, are you? Very well!"
Anoushka watched Aderlass in surprise, having taken a few steps back after bestowing his rank and returning his bow. Well, this hadn't happened in a little while. No one had challenged for the throne in years. She didn't say anything, didn't offer an opinion, just watched with a raised eyebrow.
"That's fine then," the bull said with a snort. "If you want to have your head handed to you on a silver platter, I'm not one to stop you. It's just unfortunate that you didn't get to enjoy your new rank before I smear you into the dirt. Well, it's your funeral. I don't treat threats lightly, you understand."
He drew himself to his full height, which was very considerable, and looked down on Aderlass with a condescending grin. "I will answer your challenge, then. Tomorrow we will meet in the courtyard and I will make you little more than a smear on the cobblestones. Bring whoever you'd like to watch. I'm not sure they'd enjoy the show, though."

The mouse stood in the courtyard taking in the nice day. It was a pleasant day and seemed a shame that the odds were high that only one of the two of them were going to live. He surely hoped that it would not be him. He stood in his bipedal form, his cane at his side. His posture was not to be confused for being over confident, he had just been preparing for this moment for a long time. There seemed no reason that he should show the slight fear that was occupying his small form. He was prepared to fight with and for everything he had.
No one except his friend Shinrai, who had his usually cloak wrapped around his body to prevent him from being recognized as a current Queen of Hearts, stood at his side. He had asked his equine friend to be here for the fight and he had made sure his friend had agreed to the rules of not stepping in. He had asked Minh to keep herself and the kids away from the fight. This was something he did not want them to have to witness. He also could not risk having anyone who could become a target or distract him from what was about to transpire.
He looked across from him to see the current Queen.
((OOC: Can Rai be present at/on his side, perhaps wearing his cloak so no one will know he is acutally a Heart? They are friends so if the horse could be there someway he would be > >; Roger that! I will make sure Sera knows as well. Thanks <3))

((D8 Homg, I'm taking over! <3))
Veldmair stepped out of the palace, seeing the Mouse already there waiting for him, an odd...Bipedal Equine-looking creature by his side. Was this little Aderlass' lover? If it was, perhaps he could encourage the intriguing beast to take up with him once this was over, he had never seen anything quite like it.
Striding over, heavy blue hooves clacking loudly on the pavement, the Queen smiled down at his opponent. Amazingly, he appeared to be unarmed, wearing only a wide vest, decorated with blue swirls and even lighter blue accents.
"So, am I to assume that you are ready to begin? My King will make the countoff if you feel that you are ready."
He grinned, eyes looking misty as though recalling something happy.
"You know, I'm in a good mood, and still willing to accept you back into my Court as a Queen under my rule, little one. I shall give you one last chance to rescind your foolish offer before we start. If you want to plunge on ahead then simply give the word and we will begin, won't we, my Anoushka?"
He asked, chucking his King lightly under the chin as she stepped over to the sidelines with the green Equine.

((Uh-oh . . . I mean Waha~! <3))
He watched with a careful eye as the current Queen and King Anoushka made their way outside to join them. “Good day Your Majesty. I thank you for your kind offer, however, I am afraid that my unhappiness at staying where I currently am would eventually lead me to this same result. And thus I am led to decline your offer.”
He gave a small bow, swinging one arm out as the other rested across his waist. “I am ready to begin whenever you are.” He was not goading the bull, he was not that stupid, but his tone was teasing.
Taking a deep breath he tried to calm his nerves. He was not completely sure what was going to take place but he was sure that he was going to fight anything that came. Waiting for the sign to begin from the King he braced himself.

Anoushka gave Veldmair's hand a brief lick and then sauntered over to the sidelines, casting an eye towards the equine not far away. He stood like someone with power, with importance, but she didn't recognize him personally. Must be new, whatever he was. So long as he didn't interfere, she doubted they would have problems.
"I vould say that ve are ready," she said in a calm voice. "As this is a battle for the Qveenship of the Court, no von may interfere but the two parties involved. Any magic or veapons at your disposal are fine, but othervise nothing. Yes... very vell. Begin!"
After making the announcement, she kept her eyes trained on the pair of them, fully expecting the bull to make the first move. That was just the kind of person he was. Then again, the mouse might surprise her. She made a slight face. Why did he have to be vermin, of all things? "Should be interesting," she murmured loud enough for the stranger to hear her.

Shinrai felt the first shiver of fear for his friend. He, of course, knew of the Queen of Clubs, and had made it a point to see sketches of the man, but nothing could actually prepare him for seeing that giant bull towering over Aderlass. Still.... the Morganberry mouse didn't seem the least bit nervous, which likely meant he was just hiding it well. That caused the stallion to mentally smirk, but he showed no emotion outwardly. This was too important a day for Aderlass.
One green ear flicked towards the woman, but thus far he was sadly unimpressed with her. Aderlass had hated her for awhile, hadn't he? It was easy to see why; the King was oddly creepy, and not in the same way his children were. The stallion wasn't entirely certain she'd stand on the sidelines, so he was quite pleased to be here to keep her from stepping into the fight as well.
"Indeed," he finally answered in a low, thoughtful tone, but his mind had gone back to last night when Aderlass had requested his presence here today. He just hoped the mouse would take his advice: take down the bull quickly and take him all the way down.
The current Queen of Clubs needed to die.

Veldmair smiled and nodded to the other Queen, delighted that the Mouse had not backed down...he might have had to rescind his offer after a day or two had he turned out to be that spineless.
"Very good, then we are ready."
His head turned at the sound of his Kings' voice and a grin crossed his features, he turned his head slightly to the left to get another good look at the green Equine-like creature.
"Your friend is quite a character to want to coma out to watch you die, mouse. Let's give him a good show, shall we?"
Without waiting for a response, the Corvistowneian very suddenly threw himself forward, one hand stretched out in front of him in an attempt to pin the smaller man to the ground, the other reaching to the back of his waistcoat.
His blue eyes were wide with delight, nostrils flared with the exctasy of battle.
So long it had been.
Too long.

“Wot can I say to have such a loyal friend?” He was actually glad that Whip had decided to come out and see him in this fight. Their discussions and planning had also helped and he tried to make sure that he kept them to the forefront of his mind.
He had been hoping that the Queen would make the first move, and thus he was half expecting the lunge from the bull. Using his smaller form to his advantage he lunged to the side as well, making all attempts to evade the bull’s attack.
As he moved to the side, making to circle the bull and end up behind his larger form, he focused subconsciously on his hands. He was careful to make sure that the hand that grasped his cane did not over heat the precious metal of the dragon head handle; while the other was hotter then it was before he had this power to control.
Reaching his destination he prepared himself for the next attack.

The Mouse was quicker than he had expected, turning as fast as his bulk was able, he tried to keep the other Queen to the front of his body, but he could sense that the Morganberry had gotten far enough around him. He could glimpse him in his peripheral vision, just to his left and around him.
Laughing heartily, the Bull pulled his tail in tighter to his body, elated by the rush of adrenaline and the frenzy of speed the smaller creature had shown.
His thick-nailed fingers finally closed around the tiny object he had been searching for in the back of his waistcoat and he palmed it. It was small enough not to be noticeable unless watched with scrutiny.
Chuckling, the Bull awaited some sort of pain from the side the Mouse had advantage to, waiting for the other to touch him.
"Very good so far, Aderlass. Come to Veldmair!"
