He watched his father eagerly, and intently, both ears swiveled forward in interest. This was far more interesting then history, suits, ranks, languages... .everything the rat was trying to get to stick in his brain, most of which he somehow managed to hang onto. Not only was his suit generally known for it's intelligence, but the breeds that he was a mix of were to, not to mention it seemed both of parents seemed to have quite a bit. It was only natural really, that the boy be inquisitive, but at the same sensible. This matter was indeed sensible, it could certainly quell the boredom he felt when he was alone, not to mention give him new ways to drive the rat out of his mind... literally and figuratively.
He caught something else as Finistris spoke that made him perk more as well, he could, potentially, travel to other people's minds? Now that was a prospect worth keeping, and mulling over. It would be something to ask about at a later time cause he was still distinctly aware of the possibility that he just might scare this fascinating man away for good and he didn't want that, not at all.
He eyed the shapeless mass, watching as it turned into something tangible, something ... for him? Well, this gave him an opportunity to try and impress Finistris! He grinned at him somewhat lopsidedly and turned his body a bit and curled his tail, slipping it underneath the offered bear, which certainly felt nice against his the nearly fur less appendage, and slowly brought it around to set it in front of himself, his tail might not have been fully prehensile and actually able to grasp the bear, but with it's semi-prehensile nature, and a bit of 'strength' in it, he could balance things and hold them in his own way. It was something he'd figured out himself and decided to show his father first. His grin grew a bit more, showing a bit of those small, sharp fangs. He also began to twiddle his claws again, noting an audible click as they tapped the claws on the bear.
He peered down at the sound, noting the 'rings' upon his fathers fingers, and the similarity between the two substances, in look of course, for now he was more interested in the task at hand as he had heard Finistris tell him to try it. But first, a bit of good manners was more important, his voice having no hints of anything but genuine thanks.
Why ... .thank you! And... you don't... have to bring me anything.
For the first time he peered up at the man with a sheepish nature, a light flushed appearing under the fur of his cheeks. Really his presence was enough, he found more pleasure in it then any gift could give him, but he wasn't sure how to express that, feelings weren't really something that were tossed around often by his mother and thus he was at a loss. However, he didn't dwell on it for long and set himself to the task of producing an object from seemingly nowhere.
The first few times the blackness either wasn't there within his clawed paw, or it dissipated before taking on any specific form. He was beginning to get mildly frustrated, but decided to concentrate as hard as he could, scrunching his face and sticking his tongue out to the side as he did and finally, finally he had something! It was slender and colored the same as the delicate spirals on his cheeks, it was not as fine a fabric as the bear, but it was appealing to the eye none the less, for what it was, and he offered it to Finistris, delighted to have produced anything.
It was a ribbon, a simple, purple ribbon but he was proud of it....
[[ I so couldn't help it XD ]]

Finistris couldn't stop the small smile that crept across his face...the boy certainly knew how to be endearing...perhaps he could get to like this "father" thing...
When Morpheus thanked him, it was so genuine that it practically hurt.
"Nonsense, it's a fathers' job to spoil his son. Not much, mind you but...just a little perhaps."
He ruffled the boys' ears and then watched as Morpheus began his attempts at forming something from the darkness. The first few were rather pathetic, but Finistris kept the thought to himself, watching his son's desperate look of concentration.
Finally, the clawed paw came back out containing something that didn't dissipate right way, it slowly formed into...a ribbon?
Huh, cute.
Reaching out and taking it, Finistris rubbed his fingers over it gently, patting his son on the head.
"Very well done, I'm impressed you managed so quickly. We'll try for something larger later. We'll have to show your mother when he arrives..."
He tied the ribbon around Morpheus's front paw in a thick swath, making a purple band.
"There you are, now very well done indeed."
He stroked the boy's ears fondly...not as impressive as he would have liked really, but...certainly a start...

Once the ribbon had been tied about his paw he settled into his father's lap, completely comfortable and content. A quieted little trill rose up from his throat as his ears were stroked, although not the same as a feline's purr it would cause a mild vibration from his throat, making it similar. He was rather enjoying the attention and didn't feel the need to say anything. However, not long after the mention of him, Osias would, indeed, make an appearance. He had kept himself away this long after the familiar tweak to a nerve because wanted Finistris to discover the boy on his own and, hopefully, make the effort to get to know him. Well, he'd also been busy beforehand as well, but it hadn't been anything of up most importance. As golden visionaries focused, he was not disappointed by the sight, which was actually better then he'd hoped for. He himself was looking a bit more haggard then usual, but seeing Finistris and Mo brightened him a bit and just the very end of his tail curled as he made his way over to the two, his usual partial sneer resting on his muzzle, only softened, just like his general mood. The difference in their coloring was rather sharp as well, Osias was more or less the same shade as wet dirt whereas Morpheus was a much warmer shade close to terracotta, he also lacked the coarseness of his mother's coat. All in all, Osias only made his son look better. I was wondering when you'd come see him.{{ I did a bit of weasel research just to find that happy sound =3 }}

The small half purr stirred something in Finistris that he hadn't felt before...he squashed it but couldn't help feeling slightly unnerved, though he did his best not to communicate it...What the hell?...
Morpheus was the first person to be this comfortable with him though, that was certain...
The sudden sigh of air that meant someone else had entered caught Finistris's attention, years of existing as he did had taught him to adore that sound... He was pleased to see Osias heading toward them, facial expression rather pleasant and tail curled a little.
Good...though he did look a bit beaten. Hmmm, perhaps after the child had gone off to sleep or work at something...a distraction maybe? Finistris could help the Rat ignore any...external problems...
"Good to see you again too, Osias."
Finistris murmured, eyes slitted as he looked the Rat over again, a small smile tugging at his lips.
"I must admit to being pleasantly surprised, I'm sorry I hadn't come earlier...I was kept...busy. We've had more traffic of late."
In truth, Varestes had been trying to keep him on lock down...and had partially succeeded...it had taken quite a lot of arguing...and fighting, to win this privilege back. The Human seethed inwardly, keeping his face calm... One day, he would be free and he would torment his other half until he dropped...
"I'm impressed that you didn't rush to inform me, I hadn't any idea. He is rather marvelous though, don't you think?"
He ruffled Morpheus's ears lightly, looking down at the boy with a smirk.
"He's a fast learner too, he's already learning to create from his surroundings here...perhaps he could show you?"
He waited to see the Rat's reaction...Osias had never been able to learn that trick, he wondered if seeing his son do it would please or infuriate him...either way...the bed afterward would be good, he knew...

The rat couldn't entirely hide the added spring to his step, the rather miserable last few days he had being tossed aside for now. his ears perked a bit as he listened to Finistris, his sneer turning into a smirk. He thought there was a bit of dis-truth to that statement, as he was still residing in the Court of Spades, but he said nothing. If Finistris was covering for something, it certainly wasn't something the man was fond of. He was also certain he caught a tint of displeasure on the humans face but he wouldn't dig. If things went as they usually did, if the man was aggravated surely things would be a lot more enjoyable for the somewhat masochistic rat.
I've been rather busy as well, in my line of work a King is certainly more valuable then a 10.
A bit of a lie on his behalf as well, this had been the first job he'd taken since he found out about Morpheus, and a bit before that as well. He'd certainly thought he was terribly ill, the headaches and the sickness, but it had certainly been worth it to have Mo. And he unconsciously traced a bony digit along his arm, checking to be sure he'd left enough time for it to heal. He'd been distracted tonight, and he could've gotten himself killed and he certainly wouldn't repeat his lackluster performance again. But Finistris was speaking again and it brought him back to the here and now. I must agree with you on that, certainly is a clever little thing.
The real reason he hadn't rushed to Finistris was really two, for one that didn't hold a lot of dignity and for another he had used the time to mold the boy a bit, test him, see what he was all about. He'd wanted the man to be pleased, and because he was in turn pleased the rat. However, what he said next took the rat completely by surprise, he'd tried and tried and tried and never once could he get a thing and the boy already could? The surprise momentarily twisted his expression into one of aggravation before he caught and corrected it. Damn.
Morpheus was fully aware of his mother's appearance, but was far to content to really care. By now he'd lidded his eyes and was fighting the urge to go back to sleep right here on his father's lap. However, partially to fight sleep, partially to appease his mother, he opened an eye and twisted his ears toward the rat. And then they were talking about him, it mildly annoyed him the way they spoke, almost as if he wasn't there, but he kept it to himself. They were saying good things after all. And, at the mention of his new trick, and most certainly the look that came to his mother's face, he opened his other eye and puffed himself up a bit, looking rather pleased. Which only served to get under Osias' skin a bit more.
[[ They're so.... dirty minded XD ]]

((OOC: They're so awesomely dirty...I love them...I'm also surprised O__o Heh, characters...I thought I had control. <3))
"I believe it, tell me, what have they had you doing? I've been on rather hard terms with my other half if you catch me, so I really am sorry for my absence, Osias..."
He shrugged, figuring that he may as well tell the rat the truth, He had wanted to come, after all. Osias knew at least a bit about the animosity between himself and Varestes.
"Clever is right, Morpheus...do you think you could try again for Osias?"
He asked, after watching the child puff up with pride, he wanted to see what sort of tension that would cause...he couldn't help but catch the look of sudden aggravation flitting across the rat's features...
"I really am impressed, son and your mother ought to be proud..."
He wondered if the term "mother" would rile the Rat or not...good god this night would be fun...

[[ You should know by now that they steal a piece of your brain and use it as their own. =3 ]]
Ah, now that sounded more like a feasible explanation, and it placated a worry of the rat's to some degree. However, at the question, the corners of his mouth twisted a bit into the wicked little smirk most saw before he attempted anything devious, he did so enjoy his work, most of the time. Unless he let himself become stupidly distracted at key moments ...
It isn't necessarily them that give me work, I'm sure no one here really cares two ways if I were to just simply vanish.... I more... pick and choose my employers... should they be able to find me. It's a.... delightful past time.
At his father's question Mo peered up for a moment, as if considering, eyes moving slowly over to Osias momentarily before he gave a nod. He pulled himself back up onto his rump, the end of his tail moving a bit as he twiddled his claws once more, thinking. Now what could he think to conjure up now? He certainly didn't have a large enough imagination for this type of thing, but he wanted to do it, wanted to bring up something more impressive then the ribbon. He touched the purple piece of cloth absently, as if it might give him some idea, but really it was looking back up at his mother that gave him a small inkling of what to try for this time. It was larger and more solid then the ribbon, but it wasn't, in his mind, to outlandish for a beginner to try and get.
Osias however, felt chastised to the most mild degree at the last portion of Finistris' sentence, but aloud no more annoyance to show.
I am, or will be... it's just... surprising. And annoying, but it would do him no good for either of them to know that he was mildly jealous of a child, his child to boot, so it was just another agitation added to his present list. He adjusted his pose, going into a more relaxed state as he focused his eyes upon the boy, waiting to see if he really could make anything worthwhile or if his father was merely encouraging him to try and make him do better. The reference to him as the boy's mother didn't phase the rat at all, that's what he was and there really wasn't any other way around it, so he lived with it.
Mo immediately took up his previous look of concentration, it had worked once so why wouldn't it work again? He reached into the nothingness and was able to keep hold of the blackness without it simply vanishing, good start. Hopeful, he continued to concentrate and it turned into something more solid, something mildly rectangular, a book this time. He put a bit of artistic flare into it this time, the cover being a somewhat darker shade of red, like blood spilled onto sand, and the edges decorated in delicate spirals of gold similar to his own, but a bit messier, not quite what he wanted. The book was also heavier then he'd thought t would be and slipped from his grip, his claws cutting into the decorative cover, and it hit the floor by it's spine flipping open. For as nice as the cover was, the pages were blank. A mild victory but a larger defeat in his mind and he huffed with disappointment, bristling his fur slightly. Damn it all....
Sorry ...
He was certain it just wasn't good enough, and he'd managed to hurt his own ego a bit, oops. This trick was more complicated then he'd initially thought it was, you had to think of everything, it was.... quite trivial.

((Yeah, and between them all they steal the whole damn thing XD Bernard! Give it back!))
Finistris chuckled dryly at the Rat's response to his inquiry about the Lowlander's work...he knew te Rat took unsavory jobs...and adored them...he just loved seeing that evil little smirk flit across the other's muzzle. The jobs were often fitting to him anyhow.
"Good to hear, I wouldn't have thought that anyone in the Court to date would be giving you jobs like those...snagging them in the Capitol are you?"
He watched the Rat's face as Morpheus began trying to conjure something again on his lap, his tiny claws prickling slightly at Finistris's leg through his black pants. He was pleased with Osias's response to the boys' abilities, here was something that the Rat would have to praise the child for...even he was rather impressed that he actually seemed to be making headway once again.
"Good job Morpheus...you've almost got something there."
He murmured, not moving and keeping his voice low so as not to distract his son...he liked to watch his look of concentration...it was particularly endearing.
When the book first began to form, Finistris felt his eyebrows rise in surpirse, unable to help himself. A book? Even he had trouble getting everything into them sometimes, this was...ah. It fell to the floor, clearly empty...still.
Finistris ruffled his son's ears again.
"No need to be sorry at all, son. That was an admirable try, and you still created something, didn't you? Nice cover too...fancy."
He smiled and rubbed his son's back encouragingly.

Somewhat through the Capitol, I frequent the shadier half. I don't have to speak to a soul to get my leads either.
He simply loved the fact that his own hunch had worked in his favor and that lip reading was, indeed, able to count toward a language. The riff raff of the city was generally, at most, Tens and none really wished to pick a fight with a King of his.... appearance. Oh, that made him remember a little fact fro the last time he'd been there as well, something he'd learned from that Avington feline.
Seems I've picked up quite an awful reputation, for other things as well.
A look of strictly mock disdain crossed his features, golden pools shining with humor. The rat loved nothing more then being recognized, especially if such recognition was coupled with any amount of fear. In short, he was greatly pleased. However, it waned ever so slightly as he watched his, no, really, their son begin to pull and mold something from the blackness. The boy was obviously unaware that any form of success in this department would truly burn him, it was something beyond his means and he hated to admit that..... or have it thrown in his face.
He continued to eye the book, flexing his toes a bit and clenching at Finistris' leg with said claws, a clear sign of his frustration. However, at the ruffle, he was mildly placated and leaned into the attention. His expression, however, didn't fully lighten, it hadn't been perfect and what was worse was that it was in front of his mother. They had a bit of an.... unspoken rivalry going and it really burned Mo when he screwed up anyhow. But he was being praised none the less, and he wasn't entirely sure what direction to go with that. He gaze slipped to the rat, daring him to say something cross.
Even though it was truly aggravated, there was a larger part of him that stirred more in the direction of pride, even if it turned out to be momentary. The book was empty, yes, but he'd caught the rise of Finistris' eyebrows and that was far easier to read then any of his words. If it impressed him then that was enough for Osias, who was sadly lacking in knowledge of this particular subject. Praise, however, was not his strong suit, but he knew very well what would brighten the boys spirits again, even if it did involve biting back his own pride.
He stopped, collecting the empty book and closing it, running his claws over the cover as if in thought, the gold of the cover was even inlaid instead of resting on the top, curious indeed. The color, however, was what appealed to him most, he particularly fond of that shade of red.
I'm truly impressed, I can't even shape anything, let alone get it to solidify.
The rat's ears drifted back a bit at the thought, but it worked perfectly in terms of placating the young weasel cross. Mo loosened his grip and settling back down on the rather comfortable lap, even crossing his front limbs this time and gave another thrumming trill. This time however, it didn't have as much feeling behind it, but he was pleased.
He looked up at his father, conviction written over his features clearly.
Next time it will have words.
