Well, he most certainly wasn't part water fowl... he still remembered nearly drowning quite well and it was an experience he had no interest in repeating. Well.. .that and Golfam kind of.. .steered him away from water as well. At least the water here didn't smell... disgusting.
And then she went and poked at a rather sensitive subject.... flight. His ears moved back just a bit and he averted his gaze to the water before speaking.
Technically... yes... but... I'm not very good. It's cause... well...
And instead of simply continuing a verbal explanation he fully unfurled his wings so she could see them in all their glory. The longest feathers were just shy of his actual height and the rest of the feathers tapered off of that nicely. The colors mixed well together as well, giving them a rather nice, yet simplistic, beauty. If you were into that kind of thing of course.
Navy eyes slid back to her form to see if she understood what he meant by his.. .demonstration, before they widened slightly and he gave a surprised squeak. The fur along his spine stood on end soon after and he froze. What in the name of the queen was tugging at his tail feathers?
S-somethings... t-touching me.

Zuberi's jaw dropped as he extended his glorious plumage, hardly able to believe her eyes. One never could fully appreciate a good pair of wings until they were fully extended... aside from her appreciation, she could see where he'd have trouble. The wings were... so huge for his tiny frame. Eyes still wide, she couldn't help but lean forward a little more. She wanted to reach out.. and touch them... "Light as a butterfly on the wind, I'd bet.." She murmured breathlessly.
His squeak though, while so hilariously mouselike, took her by surprise and she jumped back from him with her normally slicked back fur now quite bristled. "Touching, wha?" The Midori looked down at her own paws as if they were the accused, but she was quite sure she was not the offender. Then she saw what he spoke of.. behind him, his tail was being tugged into the water.
"Oh my.. hold on!" Her words were kept at a light whisper, hopping beside him but signaling him harshly not to move. She reached for his tail, but paused. The sight of the rot on his tail was a harsh reminder of what Tavor really was. Gritting her teeth, she grabbed lower down the tail, ignoring any protests that the biped might have given and pulled straight up. Whatever was on the end of that tail was about to get flung right into the air!

As demure as he normally was he still enjoyed the looks his wings got when he actually did show them off. They'd gotten him into odd predicaments and embarrassed him at times but now, now they were just terribly pretty... even if they were basically useless beyond that. At least he had... something that others could appreciate. He had been just about to bend one forward so she could touch it if she liked when he'd first felt that tugging sensation.
He stayed perfectly still, well, besides the fact that as soon as he noticed her bristle he bristled further. This was... terribly unnerving and a rather large part of him didn't even want to think about, much less know what was currently toying with his tail but... it was a curious matter that he'd have no choice in.
He didn't notice her hesitation to touch his tail as he was rather focused on staying still, but he did squeak again when she grabbed his tail and yanked it out of the water... along with the nibbling... fish? Yes.. .apparently feathers, in all the swishy glory they attained underwater, looked rather appetizing to the scaled creatures.
The feathers themselves, now out in the air again, looked rather silly completely slicked down and water logged, almost black in color as well.

"Eeeeey mon! He not be lettin' go!" Zuberi crowed with laughter once again, even slipping into a rough Midori accent as she dug a claw into the corner of the fish's mouth to force it to let loose of its feathery prize. It was a good sized fish, and Zuberi held it triumphantly in her palm to show Tavor what he had caught. "I tell ya, beginners get -all- the luck! It's just the fates playin' de funny when they let the newbie catch the fish. Now, I figured that would happen.. didn't say anything in case I jinx it, but to catch it with your tail.. hehe.. didn't see that one coming. So far you're having more luck with feathers than we've had with bait!"
Snickering, she threw the fish into the basket in the middle of the boat. "Go on! Put that tail back in the water! .. No, you don't have to if you don't want to, hehe. By the look on your face I'd reckon you didn't like that experience too much! If you keep this up though, you'll end up out fishing me today.. I'm not sure if my ego can take that." She was sure to give a friendly wink at the end of that though. Shoot, if he wanted to catch most of the dinner, she'd not mind at all!
"... Wooo...." She said, though more quietly than the banter from moments earlier. Checking her line, she frowned. "Hopefully we haven't scared the rest of them off..."
Her curiosity still burned about Tavor's wings, but the momentum of the conversation seemed to have been thrown off, and it felt.. awkward to bring it up again. "Soo..... Have you any idea where you'll be heading after Midori?"

When it became apparent that there was a living being attached to his tail well.. .he looked at it with something akin to absolute horror. It wasn't that he was afraid of fish, even if they did look rather.. .slimy, no it was the fact that this was far to close to being munched on for his liking. It wasn't a card this time... but he had an all consuming fear of being eaten alive.
When the scaly creature was pried off his tail he breathed a sigh of relief before he noticed that she was laughing again. A fish tries to eat him and she thinks it's funny?! Well... actually it was once he really gave it a thought and his own light chuckle joined her fit after the terror had fled.
I... don't want ... a naked tail.
He laughed lightly again and pointed out the feather the fish had broken in it's attempts to stay firmly attached to it's 'prize'. It wasn't any big deal, it would grow back, and it didn't hurt... so it was amusing none the less.
Once they'd both settled their laughs and gotten calmed down again, he'd answer her question while staring wistfully out across the water.
Not entirely sure. I do... really want to go to... the Lowlands.
He turned his head toward her once more and shrugged his shoulders ... he knew the idea seemed crazy but Anatolius... Anatolius had understood. Or, at the very least, pretended to and explained around it in just the right manner. However.... with the amount of alcohol the canine had consumed that night he very highly doubted that the man would lie to him... .but you never really knew.

Tavor's laugh was wonderfully contagious, and Zuberi felt as if she had made an important breakthrough to have elicited such a response from him. His gentle laugh was so very pleasant... he really should do so more often.
"No no.. that wouldn't be good at all. Don't want you looking like you're going through a molt."
Her brows arched when he mentioned the Lowlands. She.. found it hard to think anyone would actually want to visit there, even a Lowlander.. but then again she supposed it made sense if he was searching for some sort of heritage or common ground with his people.
"Just visiting or.. are you trying to find someone you know.. family perhaps?... Forgive me if I'm assuming things, but it'd seem logical that.. well." Now she was stumbling over herself a bit. That was a potentially sensitive question and she felt awkward for even asking. Then again, fishing -was- a good time for having good, personal heart to hearts with people.
Speaking of fishing.. she pulled up her line to make sure her bait was still there before sinking it back into the water.

He grinned at her comment and plucked the broken piece off of his tail to at least give it a small amount of organization until his feathers dried and he could properly preen them to perfection. He'd been expecting some form of negativity from his previous response but her question, well it caught him completely off guard for a moment. Oddly enough not many cards asked him that ... then again not many cards discovered his desire to visit the Lowlands.
He needed to think how to word things and distracted himself by fiddling with the fishing line she'd set up for him. He had... no idea what he was doing but fiddling with it in an uncomfortable manner whilst pretending to know what you were doing could hurt ... right? His tail even curled up a bit in thought before he answered, once again looking out across the water with a distant look and a tone of voice to match. It was a question that required a detached manner of response as it was, indeed, rather touchy.
I .... suppose. I mean... it would be nice to know at least what they look like. Suits... even one of them really.
Feeling a bit more comfortable in this almost monotone, detached state of mind he turned his gaze back to her with a rather solemn smile. His eyes though showed a rather deep acceptance, he'd thought about this next idea quite a bit all throughout his childhood and he was... ok with it.
I don't want to be a part of their lives... I don't.. .want to be a burden. I just want to satiate a long standing curiosity. The family I've gained in Corvistowne is the only one that will ever count.
He lifted a hand up and tapped a solitary, violet claw against his muzzle in thought as his eyes warmed back into their usual, vibrant selves and his features softened a bit. As the next statement would prove, his voice melted back to his usual tone as well, well... almost.
But that's not... what I'm... specifically looking for there...

Zuberi quirked a squirrelly brow as he spoke. Now.. this was a side she hadn't seen from him. That though, wasn't so surprising as the fact that it was the most he'd said in one go during his entire time there... which wasn't particularly long, but long enough to have at least spoke more than he had! She couldn't fathom the thought of being away from family for so long. He knew them, right? It sounded though as if he might not directly have spoken to them at all before. Curious.
And the burning question... what was he looking for there? Her mouth opened to ask the question, but she paused, instead saying something else a bit distractedly. "Some people have all the luck..." It was a very odd thing to say after such a melancholy explanation, and probably warranted a strange look. Finally, Zuberi caught herself and her eyes went wide. "Oh! No, not about that! Look at the line!" She pointed to his fishing line, which had grown taught. Something was on the line.

It was very odd talking about himself and his own goals... .he just, never did. However, he was also the type that would almost always answer a question if it was asked and Zuberi had asked. This didn't keep him from hoping whole heartedly that the topic would change soon, his mood was swiftly drifting more toward melancholy at present. He'd be fine though ... as long as she didn't start stepping anywhere near the territory that would lead him to think of Se and his brothers, that would be rather... embarrassing.
Her remark did indeed get a rather confused look, did she not like her family then? The expression stayed on his face until his gaze had traced the line to the water. Oh! He understood now and was quite thankful for the distraction as well. He would now be able to put his thoughts back in order as he concentrated on another task.
What do I do?
He was definitely the type that enjoyed learning new things as often as he could which was perhaps a trait he'd picked up from living with Corvies, or perhaps just a part of him. It was rather hard to tell the difference between a learned habit and an inherited one, after all.

"Ah! Pull!" Zuberi was all but doing a dance where she stood, rocking the boat a bit with her antics. As if frightened by the noise, whatever that was on the end of the line tried to dart away. To keep Tavor from losing the fish, Zuberi gave a yelp and leaped for the fishing pole, grabbing it with her own handpaws to keep it from going off the side of the boat. That was one of her best fishing poles, damnit!
Of course, the action sent her.. right into the biped's lap. Um. Yikes? There was an immediate.. squirmy sensation, remembering that he was part lowlander and all, but nearly having the pole yanked from her hands again made her forget about the discomfort for that moment. "Gahh! Don't just sit there, help me pull!" Now, Tavor wasn't exactly the strongest of cards, but he'd certainly have enough bulk behind him to at least help her out.
