"It's not. But I can at least teach him a lesson," she rolled her eyes as she glanced at the shelves for what she needed. The prices were utterly ridiculous. Who would seriously pay this much for most of this crap? Her ears pulled back in annoyance when she found what she was looking for in one of the jars behind the counter.
She tapped on the glass lightly to get the owners attention. It took quite a bit of doing but the man finally looked over the counter to see the deer.
"I need six ounces of the poisonous flowers. And if you intend to to charge me that much you're kidding yourself." She said rather flatly.
The Corvie stared blankly at the little girl. His canine ears twitching as she glanced over to the Highlander duck. "Is this some joke?" he said after a moment of awkward silence. Clearly he didn't believe that the child was actually talking to him.
"It's not a joke. I'm a paying customer."

"And that...has a higher chance of success," Graeme chuckled a bit. It wasn't his business what this girl was intending to do with her brother...such an odd thing, really, he'd never had any siblings himself so he couldn't really relate. But it didn't sound like she was intending to permanently damage the lad so he wasn't going to get his conscience wounded over helping her buy poisonous flowers.
He snapped to attention as she apparently found what she was looking for, and grimaced a bit. Ah...yes. He should have figured there might be some trouble with the shopkeeper. Frowning, he picked up the dried flowers from the Villa he had seen before and moved toward the counter.
"Sir, let me assure you that this young lass is in earnest, and you are going to sell her what she needs," he said in his most formal, business-like tone, a ring of authority underlying it that said he was used to people listening to him. "The joke, I believe, is that you expect us to pay such exorbitant prices for your wares..." He held up the flowers. "I happen to know these are as common as grass in certain areas of the Villa, and will in addition grow readily in gardens with the correct care, and yet you call it 'rare' and triple the price. If you fail to provide excellent service, I will make sure -everyone- knows what a rip off this shop is." His orange eyes flashed a warning, beak pulled in a grim expression. His rich clothes and look of authority should convince the man he had the influence to do whatever he claimed he could about the 'good' name of this shop.
It was a pity as he didn't remember them being so ridiculous last time...perhaps the store had fallen on hard times or to new management. After all, it had been years since he was last here.

The Corvie was a little taken aback by the entire situation. He was being called out all of a sudden. The bipedal closed his eyes as a rather strangled sound between a whimper and a growl escaped him.
"Fine," he said after a moment of silence. "I'll lower the price by twenty and no more. But I hope you don't expect me to give a dangerous substance to a three year old child. Talking or not I'm not going to get my ass hung out to dry because of some strange kid coming into my shop and obtaining poison."
A rather loud hiss escaped Nerissa as she slammed both her front hooves on the class. Of course the shopkeeper wasn't going to sell her what she needed. The fur along her back and the end of her tail puffed up in rage. "I have money just like everyone else. If I pay you it shouldn't be a problem!"

Graeme frowned, not liking the man's attitude. He had half a mind to fly off the handle and give this swindler a piece of his mind but...he'd already managed to lose his temper once today. The Duck took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm before moving right up to the counter again. His hand was gripping his cane hard enough to hurt, but his voice was perfectly calm when he spoke. "Sir, I think you're missing a very simple solution in all of this..."
The Duck walked up and put his hand lightly on the small deer's back, hoping she wouldn't take offense, but he needed to make a point. Plus, she seemed to be getting quite riled up herself and he wanted to avoid a scene, and he was sure the shopkeeper wanted to as well. "The lass is with me. She gives you the money, you give me the poison, and no one gets in trouble, but everyone walks away from this situation with what they want or need. and may it be fully on my head if you later hear this child has come to harm because of this." He let a tight smile stretch his beak. "Do I make myself clear?"

The shopkeeper's mouth remained nothing more than a line. He didn't seem to want to deal with the entire situation. However he nodded after a moment, leaning over the counter to accommodate the rather short child.
Nerissa was tempted to bite the man's hand. He deserved it for being such an asshat over this entire thing. Trying to rip people off and not willing to accept her money. With a rather disgruntled sound she reached into her small pouch pouch to produce her coins. Of course this was a pain to do with no hands, but she somehow managed to balance everything with her hooves.
She watched as the man accepted the money and dished her out a proper amount of flowers. He was kind enough to wrap them in a lovely little bag for her to carry without getting dust in her mouth. Lovely.
"Thank you for your service... " he said after a moment with a smile.
Nerissa refrained from commenting as she slipped the bag around her neck. She had every intention of just walking out and could careless if the duck followed her or not.

Graeme watched the shopkeeper closely, and when it finally seemed that he was going to comply, he backed off, though giving Nerissa's shoulder a friendly pat, not realizing the gesture might annoy her. He watched her balance the money (which, he noted, she had a good bit of for a three-year-old...her parents must be pretty well off), and considered offering to help, but then he figured that she probably wouldn't accept it.
With one last look at the shopkeeper, he would probably follow the little Deer out, having no interest at all in spending any more time in the joke of an establishment. He turned to Nerissa as they leave thought. "Well. I'm glad to see you got your flowers, Nerissa. That shopkeeper was a fool. Lucky thing you ran into me," he said casually, but his eyes held a slightly greedy gleam to them. Though he wasn't going to say it, being too much of a gentleman, it would be implied in his tone and words clearly to one as sharp as the Deer was...you owe me one.
"Is there anything else I can help you with, perhaps?"

The deer mix didn't like being touched. The fur on the back of her spine standing up a bit. Old man needed to get the hell away from her, that's what he needed to do. She refrained from snorting and simply nodded as she headed for the door.
When he spoke her ears flipped back. So he did have an angle then. And she still didn't know what the hell it was. Her eye narrowed as she continued to trot forward. Maybe she should just kick him in the balls and scream like a baby. That would get her out of any obligations.
Of course that would take the effort of humiliating herself, and she was sure someone would take away the flowers that she had just managed to purchase. Gah. Whatever. She had no intention of putting up with that eye for eye crap that people were so damn determined to do.
"Nothing at all. This is what I came to the Capital for." She said flatly. "Though I suppose you have something you want from me? I suggest you spit it out before I just go back home and leave you hanging."

Graeme gave her an appraising look...considering. On the one hand, he would like some sort of monetary compensation, but then, even he almost felt badly for wanting to be paid for helping a child. Maybe he could get something else out of this? Sometimes it was better to be more discrete now and get a better payback in the future. Yes, Graeme decided, that was what he'd do.
"I don't want anything from you," he said with a smile, the lie coming easily enough. He wondered if she could see through it...but then, when you'd been in the business as long as he had, you got rather good at the little white lies for the sake of profit or saving face. As long as he waas honest where it counted, it didn't bother his conscience any.
"All I want is for you to...remember me. Graeme McDuck, owner of McDuck Enterprises," he said, and then, he flipped out a business card and stuck it in her bag. "You seem an enterprising young lass...and if you ever need an endeavor of yours funded, well, you can feel free to look me up." He gave her another charming smile.

The mix's ears flicked as she eyed the older man. So he was the owner of a rather large company? It sounded terribly important, and perhaps she should pay more attention to the workings of the world beyond her own mind. Of course that would require giving a damn about others.
She paused in her steps for a moment, looking up with him as if she was searching for something more. Keeping her appraising gaze on him, a small smile crept onto her face. "I'll keep that in mind. And just so you know... I happen to be the daughter of the Queen of Hearts. So if you ever want to drop by the palace for a little chat I'm sure my mother would be willing to thank you profusely for helping me."
And perhaps that would get her mother off her back for an extend period of time.

He was a little worried she'd read into his actions...and even more worried she'd read him like a book and find out what he was up to. After all, once shown this was no normal child, he had no idea what to expect from her. At her smile, he inwardly relaxed, his own smile twitching a bit as it became more genuine. Seems this maybe would pay off in the long run, luckily for him. Graeme felt that lovely warm feeling he always felt right before he added gold to his vault.
Until he heard who the girl's mother was. The Queen of Hearts? The Queen of Hearts?? Graeme swallowed audibly, and his smile because slightly nervous. Good thing he'd been cautious, then! The Duck had always made it a policy to have as little to do with the Courts as possible...and the idea of meeting The Queen of any Suit was very...daunting.
Then again, what if she really were grateful? It was a risk...he would just have to consider if it was a risk he was willing to take. "Ah, well, I see," he said, a bit faintly, though his beak still held a smile. "You'd best be eh..getting back to her I imagine, then. It was lovely meeting you, Nerissa." He doffed his hat to her and bowed slightly at the waist.
