Arkady smiled a bit shyly at Castiel. "That's more places than I've been," he mumbled, though he didn't think he'd want to go to the Gardens. From what he'd heard, they weren't a place that was friendly to boys. Actually, he'd read in a book that all Yarrow Gardens girls hated boys, but that couldn't be true, because he couldn't imagine Cas hating anyone! And from her pink hair, she was obviously of that region. He made a sad, sympathetic sound. He understood wanting to spend more time with one's Daddy and not being able to.
Though, at least hers was alive! Still, Ark nuzzled Cas's hand, giving it a small lick...and then backing up, a bit sheepishly. He watched her for a moment, worried how she'd take it. Surely she'd bounce back again? She just seemed to genuinely cheery not to...
At Conall's words, the Coyote turned toward him, ears perked forward. He perked up at the suggestion of an adventure. That sounded fun! Though...would it be safe? Ark's youthful adventurous spirit vied with his natural inclination to hang back and wait for others to take the lead. He tilted his head, tail thumping intermittently. "What kind of adventure?" he finally asked quietly. Ugh, his throat was definitely starting to get dry...

Castiel was far from the normal Yarrow. She should have hated boys, but she couldn't really bring herself to do it considering she only knew very few and her brother seemed fine the way he was. The little girl was a little surprised when Arkady licked her hand, blinking a few times in surprise.
And then her head snapped around at the word adventure.
Conall paused. He didn't mean now... but he supposed he could come up with something. "Well. I don't know. I wasn't thinking about going on an adventure right now but... there are plenty of places we can go. Like there is Nerissa's hidden.... lab place. And there are plenty of unexplored parts of the palace."
No one was really supposed to know about it, but he had accidentally stumbled on the girl when she was leaving it. The place was filled with all sorts of creepy things, and was probably a part of the dungeons in the past. He was sure that if both his parents were around they would have both scolded him for poking his nose in such a dangerous place. And now that he had said something he wanted to take it back.
But he wouldn't back out unless the others wanted to.

Arkady smiled up at Cas, a bit shyly, at her surprised look, but he was still tense until Conall corrected himself. The idea of an adventure sometime in the future was more appealing than one right now. After all, they'd been running around all day already, it felt like! Of course, being a puppy, he could probably muster up enough energy anyway after he had a drink and a snack, but he would feel bad leaving his sister alone for that long.
Ark tilted his head curiously, actually leaving a bit closer to Conall. "Who's Nerissa?" He'd never heard of her before, but it seemed like both of the other two knew exactly who they were talking about. He hadn't really met any other kids outside of his own family before today. Maybe she was another sibling of Cas's? Either way, this plan now officially had his interest, although if he knew of the trouble it could get them into, he would probably have still been a little wary of the 'adventure'.

Castiel's cheeks puffed up at the mention of her siblings name. She glanced at Conall, expecting him to explain who she was. She certainly didn't want to. That meanie was horrible to everyone, and if she could have a chance at getting back at her she would take it!
Conall was a little surprised by the reaction from Castiel, but it didn't really show. "Well, Nerissa is one of Miss Xiven's children. I guess she's related to Castiel... but you never would be able to guess. She's smart and terribly mean to everyone she meets. I've only met her twice, and both times she yelled at me for being in her way... even though I was only walking in the hallway to get to the gardens." And there were those times when he had spied on her. Of course she noticed since she was more paranoid than anyone in the palace.
"I heard a rumor that she has a pretty interesting lab where she does experiments."

Arkady's eyes widened at the information that Nerissa was that mean. How could anyone related to sweet Castiel be like that? It was hard for the Coyote to wrap his mind around it. His ears went back in sympathy for Conall, because he knew what it was like to be yelled at when you didn't do anything. Sometimes the servants would get mad at him when he was just trying to find his Mom or get some food. But why would another kid be that mean?
Arkady was starting to think this adventure was not only a good idea, but necessary, especially as he saw the look on Cas's face. He moved closer to her and nudged her hand. "What do you think?" If she wanted to teach her sister a lesson, then he was definitely up for it. He felt a strong urge to protect her, to guard and help her as he would Laika in a similar situation. The thought of Laika getting picked on by one of their other siblings was enough to raise the fur on the back of his neck.
He still wasn't sure it should be today, but that wasn't a primary concern yet. Dima hovered faithfully nearby, though his tail lashed a bit as he could sense his Master's agitation.

Castiel blinked when she was asked the question. She wanted to get back at her sister most of the time, but right now she wasn't in the mood to get in trouble. Maybe they could do it some other time? "I think we shouldn't. Not right now anyway." It had been a long day. And they had done quite a bit of searching, and she was starting to get tired. Napping, though, was out of the question. She was playing with her friends right now.
Conall shrugged. "It was just a suggestion. We can always have an adventure some other time." Unless this was the last time they would be talking to each other. That was perfectly possible. They may have been friends now but that never meant they were going to stay friends. Especially if they associated with other people... he could easily be shunned.
But he didn't want to think about it.

Arkady felt himself relax from a tension he had no idea was building when Cas stated she wasn't in the mood to cause trouble today. Really, he realized, neither was he. It was getting later, and he was antsy to get back to his sister before she woke up from her nap. But...he also wasn't quite ready to leave the company of the other two yet...it was different, having friends that weren't also related. It felt nice and warm, like a bowl of soup on a cold day.
His tail wagged a steady beat, and Dima calmed again, blinking slowly at the other children and waiting, as always, for orders.
Arkady nodded. "Another time," he echoed, marveling at how the words could be both terrifying and exciting at once. "Well, you know where to find me," he added a bit shyly. He knew they must. Everyone did.
It was true; just about everyone in the Palace knew where he and his siblings lived, and even those Cards he'd never met immediately knew he was 'One of Seth and Heilyn's kids' though they rarely knew his name. 'The one that's not Makenna or Sergei and doesn't have extra limbs,' they'd sometimes say, and Ark didn't have the heart to correct them that there were two of his litter that fit that description. He and Laika. They often got mistaken for each other, as well, and in that case he would try to correct them, in his own, calm way.

"Then we can do it some other time," Conall said with a shrug. Hopefully he could stay friends with Arkady and Castiel. Maybe they wouldn't change their mind about him. Maybe they would actually stay friends and he wouldn't be so lonely all the time. The thoughts were hopeful but how many people in the palace had been "friends." Most people looked at him and considered him ugly, turning their noses at the smell. So what would keep these two from doing the same?
Castiel found herself yawning. Obviously it had been a long day and she hadn't had time for a nap. Of course she was never one to actually lay down for a nap without being directed. She rubbed her eyes as looked to Arkady and Conall. "Then we should have an adventure later... but we'll definitely have an adventure some other time. Okay?"

Arkady nodded, glad to have that decided and agreed upon by all three friends. His tail wagged and he nodded again, eyes lit up in excitement. He would definitely look forward to seeing both Castiel and Conall again, and giving this meanie Nerissa what she deserved. But for now...he was going to find his sister. And a drink. Not necessarily in that order.
He said his goodbyes to his friends, bowing his head slightly in respectful farewell, and then trotted off in his unhurried way towards the kitchens, silent Tove trailing behind him, though his Master had practically forgotten he was there. He would remember, and when he did, Dima would help him out and follow all orders to the letter.
The small Coyote found he was tired, but overall satisfied with the day, despite the scare of 'losing' Laika for half of it. But he'd gotten two new friends and the promise of adventure out of it. Mostly, Arkady couldn't wait to tell his sister about all this when she woke up!
