Thalia's attention was pulled from her new friend and cleaning by the entrance of Minh. "Mama!" she said, excitedly. Now, she thought, the fun would begin. "Look! Isn't he great?"
Mnem, who had followed Minh down--and who hadn't actually been thinking about sex before, really, but was now going to exploit the opportunity for every sweat-slicked and groping moment it was worth--took a moment to savor the sweet aroma of imminent doom. It was a true feast for the senses.
"Yes, isn't he grand?" she drawled. "Be kind to him, ladies. I'm off to find the kid's mother. I might be a while. Try not to destroy the house while I'm gone." She headed to the door. A little brandy, a little shopping, a little bit of finding the kid's mother when she was done with that...Sounded like a plan.
"Bye Mom!" Thalia called. "We'll be good! Um. You know. Relatively."

Minh waved Mnem out the door, eying their guest speculatively. He really was a strange looking creature and his mixed heritage--a bird for sure, possibly a rodent, though she couldn't tell for sure; maybe it was canine--might prove to be a tad bothersome while they were running their tests--it tended to jumble things up--but overall he was perfect for what she wanted to do. He was young enough that he should bounce back from anything they did to him, and most importantly: he was pure Lowlander.
"Nice to meet you, strange little creature! I'm Minh; I'm sure we'll get along smashingly." She smiled a friendly, sharp kind of smile and turned to her daughter, "I assume you're helping?" Let their guest think she was talking about cleaning; it wouldn't matter soon enough.
"Well, finish up with cleaning, then. I'll go make us some cookies and tea."

His little rounded rat ears perked up even more as he was addressed by the feline. His bushy tail started to beat out a happy rhythm on the floor, the canine in his blood getting the best of him. This whole situation was fantastically surreal and it was overriding his usual skepticism and logic; he just couldn't believe people outside of his siblings actually liked him! They didn't even flinch when their eyes went over his rotting leg either. It was just ... too perfect and it really should have set off a series of bells and whistles in his mind but he was far too happy for his alarm system to be working properly.
He adjusted his white, feathery wings and flashed the bipedal feline a rather awkward looking smile, having a half muzzle, half beak just ... wasn't very good for that, and dipped his head courteously so he could insert his name, being called 'strange little creature' just didn't sit right with him.
I'm ... Brokat. It's n-nice to meet you as well.
Well, he almost had that little nervous stutter under control... these were nice people after all and they didn't require fear and nerves. At least that was the impression he was getting. Once the feline departed he went back to cheerfully cleaning, tail swaying idly back and forth. This would be a fun story to tell Vesper when he got home!

Cookies and tea were a good way to kick off the festivities, she felt. There wasn't going to be a lot of finishing the cleaning. Thalia thought that finishing cleaning the apartment would likely have to involve something drastic like letting off a few strategically placed bombs.
Nevertheless! She happily set about throwing things about, pushing them under couches and throwing them in the trash and--oh, the fish were dead. That was sad. When was the last time anyone had fed them? Poor little fishies, They had been so bright and happy.
Oh well. She would get new fishies later. Right now they had a Brokat. And soon there would be tea and cookies, and then there would be glorious experimentation at the side of her mama. She glanced over at him and smiled. He was such a cute little Lowlander.
She hummed cheerfully.

Operating the oven was the extent of Minh’s culinary skills, and any sort of cookies—edible cookies, and not the kind she sometimes made for people she wanted to suffer from a bad case of food poisoning or, like on one rare occasion, death—would have been impossible if Vishne hadn’t gotten into the habit of mixing up dough and leaving it in the fridge. It was rather sweet of him, really.
Setting the timer, Minh turned to prepare the tea, humming cheerfully all the while. She had chosen an herbal tea that would better mask the taste of the sleeping agent she would use. As a special touch, she set the table, setting three mismatched cups and saucers down. When the timer went off, the cookies joined the pot of tea in the center. It looked so—homey.
She poured the tea, smiling as the miniscule white graduals in the bottom of the cup dissolved into nothing. The trap was set. “Snacks are ready!”

His bushy tail waved slowly back and forth as he worked, it was odd, really ... he didn't generally have a happy tail, not like his brother anyhow. It really wasn't often that people were so... .so very nice to him. Sure his family was but that never really made him feel better about anything. He had no friends outside of his siblings but ... maybe now he did? He wasn't entirely certain, but he definitely hoped this was so. Maybe Thalia would want to come visit the rose garden sometime, mama never got upset when Casanova brought strangers home so... why couldn't he? The thought of having a 'friend' over made that tail of his wag a bit more.
He paused when a certain scent drifted into his nostrils, pulling his head up to scent the air. Oh those cookies smelt delicious! He couldn't quite tell what kind they were yet but he was hungry ... when was the last time he'd had a snack today? He looked around for his bander and found him hiding under a piece of furniture whose underneath hadn't been taken over by stuff quite yet and then shifted his gaze to Thalia. He perked those little rat ears of his and simply watched her, waiting to see if they were supposed to go in there... or if the stuff was going ot be coming out here.

Thalia grinned at her new friend and nodded to the kitchen, where an only somewhat-unstable table, bedecked with a nice (if oddly-patterned) cloth, was housing some yummy-looking treats and some tea. Her first thought was to call up her sister-brother and invite him over, because he loved tea parties and maybe he would stay around after so they could play knights (her) and princesses (him) and she could rescue him from ferocious Monty-monsters. Her second thought was that the snacks were probably safe to eat because Mama usually drugged the drinks; Mom was the one who poisoned the food.
(She wondered if she had been the only six-year-old in the world to spend an afternoon inadvertently getting high on half a pan of hash brownies.)
She grabbed one of the gingersnap cookies and motioned for Brokat to do the same. “Help yourself; we’ve got plenty of goodies.” She nommed happily on the treat.

Minh dropped a cookie in her tea--the only cup she hadn't spiked, and hopefully Thalia was smart enough to stay clear--waiting for it to become the perfect kind of soggy before fishing it out and popping it in her mouth whole. She purred in satisfaction; those were some damn good cookies, bless Vishne's melodramatic little soul. Tasted good just as dough, too--not that she had been sneaking bites when making the cookies. Tea parties were good; they should have them more often.
She smiled absently at their guest, grasping uselessly for his name a moment before deciding it didn't really matter. "So, young man--do you have any grand schemes for your life? At your age, I had run off to be a pirate." She grinned in recollection. "If it weren't for my big brother, I think I'd still be lost."
Chuckling to herself, she snatched another cookie.

He followed Thalia into the kitchen, fluffy tail swaying from side to side behind him as he moved. He hesitated for a moment before he crouched, wiggled a bit and then hopped up onto a chair. Olive eyes focused on the cookies and tea before him and his little rounded rat ears perked forward with interest. The triple-breed dipped his head down and sniffed at the cookies a bit before taking one gingerly in his beak-muzzle and moved it down to the back of his odd mouth, the only spot he he had teeth, so that he could chew it. with the first cookie mostly chewed he let out a little happy throat noise... he'd never had one like this before... but it was good!
Ah... but the tentacled feline was speaking to him now and he lifted his head and peered at her. Her question kept him silent and then his head tilted to the in that oh so canine manner. Did he ... have anything he wanted to do? It was something that had never really crossed the Lowlander's mind and it caused his ears to go back and his wings to be hugged to his sides. Those rat ears crept forward again at her next comment... a ... pirate? That was awfully silly ...
I'm... not... sure. M-maybe something with .... mushrooms?
That sounded silly too... but he really did love the various types of fungus and had been quite pleased when Mama redid one of his greenhouses specifically for him to cultivate mushrooms in. It was better then doing it in the closet after all.

"Mushrooms are good," Thalia said approvingly. Their guest looked more or less relaxed with them, and he liked the food. Good signs both. Thalia wanted him to feel at home. If only he would take a drink of the tea.... "Mommy grows the poisonous and hallucinogenic ones for fun and profit. Of course, one is usually the other...But the right ones are great in food!"
On that note, she devoured another cookie, and considered storing a few in the Hair for a snack later--a tendril reached out and rolled one up, and then another, and they both disappeared into the mass.
She was a little sad that she had never had a pirate adventure like Mama, but she had teamed up with Miss Gecko and sort of became a gang-leader, and that had been a pretty big accomplishment for a ten-year-old, hadn't it? Yes.
