The front door to the house opened and a gust of cold air ran through the room as a tall Biped stalked into the house.
The White Rabbit stared down into the basket with the two small children in it. A smile crossed his features as he looked into the face of the winged kitten.
"You know, the wings were rather becoming, Mistress Chai. Shame you lost them, I wonder how...if you were a more interesting person perhaps I would have cared about the answer..."
He reached into the pile of blankets and extracted the kitten, holding her delicately by the scruff and keeping her claws out of range, he gave her a disapproving stare. Watching her sibling play among the blankets he raised an eyebrow and held her out toward him.
"Your brother...he may have an interesting tale...perhaps even more so now that you won't be a part of it. You'll be coming with me...Mistress Chai. And then I'll see how history plays on without you. Your poor mother will at least be better for it, I imagine."
Turning away from the gamboling mass of pink that was Tristan, the White Rabbit and his tiny burden moved out through the front door.
It was freezing outside. Snow coating the ground, moving away from the house the White Rabbit carried the kitten, at arm's length, away into the woods bordering the house. He walked for about an hour, until there was no sign of civilization anywhere. Then he reached up and placed the kitten in a tree. Backing up, he gave her a slight bow and then turned and headed away through the snow.
"Have a good few hours, Mistress Chai, I will derive interest in seeing how the future goes. Farewell."
There was another flash of light. And the White Rabbit was gone.
