George watched with wide eyes as The Queen of Hearts knelt down in front of him.

Eh...?

The fact that the Stallion had lowered himself a level did actually calm George a little bit, no longer was the threat towering over him.

Then he spoke...the words...hurt.

"I can't...Mr. Whip...I'm sorry."

Still shivering slightly, he leaned forward and wrapped his arms around the other man's shoulders, clinging tightly for a few seconds before shoving himself backward so hard that the chair toppled over behind him. Jumping awkwardly to avoid the Equine's legs, George sprinted to the door, wrenched it open and fled down the hallway.

He went speeding by a large antlered Canine in a nightdress, carrying two crying children.

That only made him feel worse.

Starting to cry himself. He ran, ducking out the back hallway and having the fortune of finding his way outside. Rushing through the rose garden, he tried not to think.

He wanted to stay.

But he never could.

Rai went to his feet when George went over backwards, the words not immediately sinking in until the younger man had already bolted, out of the room and into the night. The stallion followed to the door, but George was already twisting around a corner and out of sight. He didn't have a chance of catching the younger man and he knew it.

The echo of George's words slipped through his mind and he dropped his forehead suddenly against the doorframe. The Torquehelmian had squeezed him so tightly. Wot was going on? Wot on earth was going on?

Children's cries echoed in the hall and Shinrai wanted to close his door to it, close his heart, his mind, his -soul- against it. But... if Queen Serafino was truly dead-- and he had little reason to doubt the young man-- then he needed to be out there, seeing to the others and taking charge. He was a Queen, now -the- Queen, and he needed to prove that, not for his sake, but for the rest of the Courts.

The stallion stood up tall and stepped out into the hallway, heading towards Gaston to begin getting a handle on the situation. He pulled aside a guard rushing around and sent him to go keep an eye out in case George showed up again, but then he put his mind into his work. That's wot it meant to be a Noble in the Court of Hearts.
