She thought of something; it was easy to read the emotions as they slipped across her face. Continued confusion was followed by worrying thought; dawning realization and a brief shot of horror, before she tried to hid it all away. But the pale, slate blue eyes still showed that she had some knowledge, some idea she had not previously.
"Spit it out," he snapped the order, stepping nearer to the woman, his whole body emanating threat. If she wouldn't tell him then he would, by all that was good and holy, beat it out of her. $#@!( Theofilus and his ultimatums. He didn't need the shipping firm that much; he just didn't want to lose the potential friendship with the bird. But for the truth of who left them that day to die.... a dark smile touched the stallion's lips. He would pay much to be able to avenge that.

Kel gasped as he drew close again, her back pressing against the brick so tightly that she could feel the edges of the stone biting into her skin. She didn't want to tell him; there was some hint of loyalty still within her. But he was fingering his whip threateningly and she just -knew- it would be bad for her if she didn't tell him.
If it had been Theofilus, she would have died before betraying him. This, however, was her brother, and she had never been overly attached to the man, younger or older. She'd received one letter from him since she'd left; he'd needed money. He had bragged about his accomplishments, none of which were really all that great, and gone off about wot a terrible sibling she was.
"Y-you.... might... have seen...m-my br-brother..." she stuttered out uneasily, trying to not feel like she was breaking some deep, important bond.

A brother? She had a brother? Rai's tail lashed as he contemplated this new development, stepping back from her slightly to eye her thoughtfully. "Does this brother look a lot like you?" She gave a hesitant nod and he hrrmed under his breath. That... was very interesting.
His tail tapped on one hock then the other before he suddenly growled at her, "Get out of here!"
She didn't wait to hear him tell her twice, and he watched her dart off moodily. He knew how to find her for when he needed to and, for now, he wanted to think about things. At least pretend he had some perspective on the problem. His hand absently rubbed along the bones of the gauntlet strapped to his left hand. This was a new development and he would put some research into this information.
With that in mind, the stallion suddenly turned and disappeared off onto the street himself. He had something new to do.
