Lleurela watched the Bandersnatch with open fascination. What a beautiful, yet strong creature. And even through pregnancy she still held a decent amount of grace. The muscle it must take to move such a large stomach around without getting too tired was really quite incredible. Another thing she found fascinating was the peace it seemed to give the Queen to have her nearby. Yes, these Bandersnatches were really starting to grow on Lleurela.
Her eyes followed as the creature leaped from his lap and groomed her moving sides.
"She looks extremely close yes, especially with her side moving like that. Do you have homes lined up for the kits?"
She hoped that they would all find homes. It would be so unfortunate for any animal to go homeless. Being the Queen's line's offspring though she doubted that they'd have any trouble getting place.
"Champion quality? Does that refer to colour?"
Lleurela got a little anxious as he worried about her going under the roses. How could anyone make sure she was okay if she had them under there?
"I did hear animals like hiding to give birth. . ." She stood up on her tiptoes to try and peek into the bushes but it did her no good.

"Champion refers to their natural ability, actually," Fino told the girl absently, standing himself to peer within the bush. Its thorny vines and full red blossoms obscured her form quite effectively, but they could hear various coughing and shuffling noises as she moved around.
The Queen's eyes narrowed and, shooting the chipmunk a sideways glance, almost of warning, hiked up his skirt to his knees and he knelt down to try and see through the thinner part at the bottom of the bush. Two black eyes gleamed as they stared at him unblinkingly. Then she huffed, sneezed, and settled firmly.
"I think you're right," he said with a grimace, standing and brushing his gown back down where it belonged. "If she's being snippy with me, that means she's settling in there and doesn't want to be disturbed. Stupid thing."
He wasn't especially worried about the health of either the kits or the mother. Bandersnatches were very hardy in pregnancy and rarely had complications during delivery, probably because they had such small litters naturally and the kits were small and almost defenseless at birth. In the wild, the bigger challenge often proved to be defending them from any other predators in the area who smelled the birth and came sniffing 'round. Jubjub birds seemed especially fond of snatching up newborn banders as a tasty snack.
"As for homes, I'm probably giving one to Dymphna to see how the girl handles a pet. I've always thought she'd be a good candidate. If there are any more, who knows?"

Lleurela listened intently hoping to learn what she could when she was shot the warning glance. She blinked a little and backed away from the Queen, getting a feeling that perhaps his patience was wearing thin. She couldn't blame him, her mind reeled at the thought of what being a Queen entailed. Surely he was under tremendous amounts of stress at all times, and here she was cutting into his relax time!
She nodded as he agreed with her guess and blushed a little. Happy that she had perhaps guessed right.
"I. . I'm sure that your Majesty will find. . the best home possible. I. . perhaps I should be going?" She bowed real low. "That is if Your Majesty agrees." She said into the ground.
"I'd be ever so humbly greatful to play for you again someday. Perhaps I'll be abl. . .able to get a better instrument b. . by then that would sound better to your ears." She stood back up though still hunched a little as if in a partial bow.
"It. . . was a pleasure to meet you your Majesty." She chittered a little before quieting herself. "Your . . gardens are the loveliest I've ever . .seen." Lleurela smiled timidly.

Compliments to Serafino's gardens and his bander were always the best-received, and this stammering little thing had offered both. In addition to that, he had the sneaking suspicion that she offered them honestly and with no political motivations driving her. It was so very refreshing to get that impression from someone new. Add to that her musical talent and the entire brief encounter had been a pleasure, the headache of his Court and his Sultana notwithstanding.
"I'm sure you'll have a better instrument by the time we meet again," he agreed with a faint smirk. "And to hasten that event on its way, I'll give you a note of recommendation to the instrument-maker this Court normally employs. Hold but a moment."
With no other words, he turned and left both musician and bander in the garden, the latter comfortable enough under her bush with the exception of the occasional small contraction. The walk to his office took perhaps five minutes, the note less than that to draft, sign, and seal, and the walk back the same. When he returned, he held out a small slip of parchment. "Your payment, little music-maker, for an afternoon's trouble."
((Aaaand we finally get to the receipt of the official favor. XD Yay! You can wrap it up and make your next post the last, netting you those nifty extra points. Hee!))

! Lleurela all but nearly fell over as the Queen himself told her that he would personally give her a note for an instrument. A beautiful, custom made instrument just for her. Her heart fluttered and she dipped into another low bow, flushing deeply as happiness filled her. She nodded in understanding and sat, happy to wait for however long it took for him to return.
She listened to the bander and wondered if she could help for a fleeting second before remembering the little banders sharp teeth and claws. She was fine and needed no help. As she heard the approach of Serafino she quickly stood so as not to appear rude.
"I. . . I'm greatly thankful for this Your Majesty." She gently took the parchment and looked down at it as if not quite real. "Thank you. . " She said again under her breath before another deep bow to the Queen, and then she left the gardens.
