Nathaniel's eyes widened in shock as his arm fell to the ground, the rumbling beneath the courtyard seemed to die abruptly as he lost concentration. The Spaniel shuddered...he couldn't even feel it, his brain wouldn't register... "No, oh god...I'm going to...He looked up again quickly, ...for the last time.
The Queen of Hearts grabbed him by the throat and lifted him into the air, his legs kicked helplessly as his air was cut off. He felt that. His remaining hand clawed desperately at the maddened Queens arm before he was thrown roughly to the ground.
Nathaniel knew no more.
Lysaras couldn't even scream. She couldn't breathe. If George hadn't started up she knew she would have fallen to the ground and allowed Sreafino to kill her too.
She grabbed her son, his face covered in Nathaniel's blood and ran, changing into her Bipedal form as she went, clutching her child to her chest and yelling to her carriage driver to get the horses ready at once! Her elongated legs gave her an advantage as she pounded over the earth, treading bushes and picking up thorns as she went.
She didn't even feel them. Nathaniel...
She slammed her way into the carriage as though the hounds of hell were on her heels.
"Drive! Drive now!"
The coachman didn't even think about it, he snapped the reins and they were away. Lysaras felt cold and alone. What now?

Serafino stood where he was and panted, watching the woman snatch up her miserable brat and flee the scene, both of them bathed in the blood of their fallen King. His legs were tensed as he debated whether or not to chase after them and finish the job, but eventually they relaxed, very slowly, as the head of his axe lowered towards the ground.
He didn't need to kill them right now. He knew where they lived. Hell, maybe the bitch had learned her lesson and would drown the child herself now that the insult had been given? The rest of his body began to slowly lose its tenseness, muscles no longer quivering with pent-up violence. One death would be a sufficient message to her and her allies. Today, anyway. His thoughts began to calm down from their blur of rage, settling into the comfortable clarity of anger and paranoia.
Dymphna lay where she had fallen, body still as a block of ice and her thoughts just as cold. She knew that His Majesty's temper sometimes resulted in extreme violence, had witnessed it on numerous occasions, but each time always left her feeling icy and disconnected from reality. Rages like this were why people called him the Beast behind his back, and sometimes even in his presence. She allowed herself one deep, shuddering breath to try and settle her nerves. It was impossible to look away from the bloody, mangled form of the cocker spaniel.
He turned his head at her breath, the silence now so pervasive that it could be heard clearly. His beautiful scaly hide was liberally sprayed with blood, his feathers gaining an almost unearthly shine as it dripped and coated them in intricate trails. "Have this taken care of," he said in a flat, toneless voice before stalking away to bathe. He didn't want it to set in his plumage. That would make an awful mess.
Numbly, the doe hauled herself up to a sitting position and stayed there for a few moments more, taking in the gruesome scene before her. Then she stood and looked down at her blood-spattered gown, quickly dismissed it, and called for a servant.

Lysaras ducked into her own Court, having ordered the driver to run the horses around the back, she ducked through the servants door and rushed through a deserted corridor that ran through the back of the palace.
George whimpered pathetically as he was dragged behind his mother, barely able to keep up with her Bipedal strides. He had sobbed himself silly on the wild chase back to their home and now it was all he could do to stay conscious.
The Queen of Spades raced in pure panic through the stone passageway until she practically hit a stone wall, this she scrabbled at for a few moments before managing to set her claws into a hairline crack, she then heaved a section f stone back and hauled her son through after her. She slammed it shut and fumbled for the stump of candle on the ledge near the wall. George started to cry again, quietly, his shoulders heaving as he tried to pull off his clothing. He couldn't stand being covered in Nathaniel's blood.
Lysaras yanked her gown over her head as well, hauling two nightgowns out of a small folded pile in a wooden chest, the room only otherwise contained a double bed and a small icebox with sandwiches. and water. She passed George a nightgown and bottle of water, then pulled out another and began to scrub the blood from his face...he couldn't stay here...he would have to leave...
Beginning to cry silently herself, she drew her son close to her, letting him cuddle into her fur. -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lysaras knew better than to send anyone out for Nathaniel's remains...she could guess what Serafino might do if she were to try and retrieve them. The funeral held for him was small and secluded, some of the items that best represented him burned instead.
She watched the smoke roil over the horizon and thought about what she must do. with grim determination she gazed away from the ashes before her and watched the towers of her palace. Se knew of one person she must ask for assistance...she wondered where she might find Osias might be at this hour...
