Minh's tone did not imply that she was averse to the idea, which pleased Mnem immensely. There were some personality differences, but there always were, and she felt that on the whole they shared similar goals.
She wondered what Minh's apartment would look like. A wreck, probably; Mnem had a hunch that Minh would not care so much for tidying up. She liked making messes too much. But Mnem was certain that it was something she would be able to deal with.
"As a matter of fact," she said, "I am in the market for a place to stay. I considered searching for an apartment of my own, but in the interests of financial stability and convenience...If you wouldn't mind putting me up, I would most certainly be able to contribute to to rent and other household upkeep. I also have...other useful talents."

Minh ran through a mental list of all the little side projects she had going on that she didn’t think her new friend was quite ready to hear about, deemed them as appropriately out of sight in the not-so-secret lab, and nodded.
“Yeah, definitely.”
It would be nice to have someone as a roommate; as much as she had bitched back home about the racket her grandmother and brother managed to raise when she was trying to work, she was all together too use to that constant din of babbling and her cozy apartment was far too quiet in comparison. Was it possible for things to be too quiet? Minh wouldn’t have thought so, previous to flying the coop.
“Rents not that big of a deal, but if you’d pitch in for groceries from time to time and keep the place tidy you’ve got yourself a deal.”
Minh briefly wondered how fast Mnem would run once she caught her first look at the apartment, but dismissed the thought for later. It wasn’t that bad; she was more organized than her brother, at least.

Mnemosyne could handle that. She was well-accostomed to taking care of herself--she could cook, clean, whatever--and providing a bit for Minh shouldn't be that difficult. Mnem had a feeling she would probably be doing most of the shopping, if only because she was quite particular about what she ate, and she had a strange premonition about what she would find lurking in Minh's fridge, and it was terrifying. Not food, certainly. Beer, maybe. Moldy cheese. Perhaps a roving cockroach. Frozen heads floating in formaldehyde. That sort of thing.
"That sounds lovely," Mnem said. And the sooner she could move in, the better. Today, perhaps. The acquaintance she was living with now would probably be relieved to see her go. Then she would have to start having a few things moved from the Gardens, ordering a few more things from places of more or less ill repute...
So much to do.
