((Matthew is Dilis' bestfriend, the only reason she never killed herself so now i'm killing him. haha! Oh and she's indeed in the courts here <3)) Capital City seemed a lot creepier at night time but she supposed it was like that with all places; it certainly proved to be true when she went to Tulgey Wood. However, Dilis was not about to show her fear to Matthew. She had always loved the guy, he was really the only person in Avington who had taken the time to befriend her during school. She loved spending time with him even if she had to sneak out to do it. See Father would not allow her to be alone with boys at any point and that amused her because she had been dating Peder for about six months so far. Tonight though she promised Matthew they would go out to dinner for his birthday and she had taken him to Cafe Larouge (his favorite place)... now for the walk home back to Avington. " Matthew dear, did you hear something?" she whispered, her voice wavering. " Oh Dilly, don't be ridiculous. There's no one out this late! You are just being a nervous nellie and working yourself up about every little noise." He should have listened though because the second he uttered the last word a disgusting Lowlander had her by the neck with a knife and was demanding their coin and jewelry. Dilis instinctively gripped her pearls and hid them under her dress. The lowlander laughed and spit at her. " Listen Girly, I'm not goin' to play around. I saw the pearls now giv' 'em up!" To prove his point he pressed the knife in a little deeper causing a small trail of blood to fall down her neck. " Please don't hurt her, why don't you come after me instead?" Matthew cried. If she got hurt because of him....or worse....what would Greagoir do to him... " Ah, so the lad does have some chivalry to him. All right, I'll tell ya wut. If the missus gives me the pearls, i'll let you both go but only then." " O-ok. Here. You can have them. Just please keep your promise." Dilis got out barely. She unclasped the necklace and in an instant of foolishness she tossed them on the ground. This just pissed the guy off more and he threw her down to retrieve them. Matthew in all his foolish man-pride knew how much they meant to Dilis so he knew what he had to do. He dove down quickly and grabbed them up before the Lowlander could move an inch. This proved to be a mistake though because when he realized what happened he quickly stabbed Matthew in the gut. Hearing yells of concern, he bolted and figured the pearls were probably fake anyway. In shock, Dilis ran to Matthew's side. " Darling, you fool! They were not that important.... Father would have been upset I lost them but glad we kept our lives... How could you....I need you, you are all I have in this world..." she cried, tearing dripping down her face and landing on his chest as she rocked him. " I just didn't want you to get in trouble" he said sadly using his strength to put her necklace back on her. Stupid pigheaded fool, look what he'd gotten into now... and now he could feel his life slipping away... He was again faced with now or never so here goes. " Dilis Elena Ó Braoin, I love you...." he whispered as he faded away. Dilis began to sob more as she realized her bestfriend was gone and nearly jumped out of her skin when she noticed someone else there. " Wh-who are you and what do you want? He is already dead, he has nothing for you to take."

Evening had fallen several hours ago and Lior found himself curled on a park bench, cloak settled around him like a comforting shadow. It was a lot harder for him to find a place now in the City. He'd started by finding a job, something that had him interacting with people so they could be duly impressed by his rank and region, which feeling in turn transferred to the place where he worked. When he had found this beautiful, cursed cloak, though, crumpled on the ground and partially hidden behind the dumpster of the place where he worked... It had changed everything. He loved what it did for him, the slim, skinny lines all he had ever wanted in his body. His employer, a King herself, had expressed immediate concern for his health, right before her Seven of a daughter had walked in and screamed at the sight of him. He certainly couldn't act as a front for a store now, not when people took one look at him and felt as though they'd just glanced at a personification of death. That image had rung truer than he'd ever thought possible, especially when he found himself with gaps in his memories and came back to himself in front of corpses. He didn't understand what exactly was happening, especially since he couldn't remember anything in the interim. It was as if his body left him behind and he didn't realize it until it was over. He'd lost his tentative apartment when he couldn't find another job, and now he was strongly considering leaving the Capital. There were just too many people here, too much death on a regular basis, and it was driving him mad. He needed to go somewhere less populated. He needed... ...to find the body. One part of his mind switched off and another came alive, head jerking up and expression smoothing into one of icy calm. He fluidly slid off the bench and stalked into the streets, breath beginning to rattle. When he finally reached the woman, he ignored her and her words completely, padding slowly forward. All he wanted to do, all he was compelled to do, was to place his paws soothingly on the dead man.

Dilis was inconsolable; she just wanted to mourn Matthew's passing in peace when another came into sight. "WHO ARE YOU? WHY WON'T YOU ANSWER ME" she shrieked. He was looking at Matthew and it gave her a bad feeling. "Do-do not touch touch him... he has nothing for you" she sobbed again trying to plead to his sense of decency though it did not look like he was thinking of decency at all. Also, it almost looked like he was not in it for Matthew's belongings either. Curious.
"He was all I had..I just want him back.." she sat there rocking him in her arms pleading for him to come back to her but... to no avail.
There was no sign of life left in Matthew lump of a body. Sniffing back the snot and tears, she took a moment to look at the figure. He could have been rather cute if not for the fact that just looking at him made her feel like death just rolled over on her. She supposed that was appropriate though with what just happened.

Lior didn't acknowledge her words for a moment, the shrieked or the sobbed. He paused briefly when she began rocking Matthew's body, then continued forward while she was watching him and reached out to place one paw on the dead Card's head. "Rest in peace," he said softly, voice high and whispy to contrast with his harsh breathing.
The instant he'd finished, something in his dull, hollow eyes seemed to spark back to life and he twitched backwards. His eyes flicked to either side, and then settled on the two bodies in front of him, one still breathing and the other...
"Not again..." he whispered in horror, falling back and sitting down hard. His voice was no longer so high-pitched as it was before, sounding much more 'normal' now and less... ethereal. "Why... why does this keep happening? Who are you? How... did he die?" The aura of dread still hung around him, exuding cold that the human woman would be able to feel deep into her bones. It would be a bizarrely chilling sensation.

Dilis stared at the person in horror. Was he death? She was not sure how but she knew Matthew was done for when the man touched him. He just had a creepy disturbing feeling about him and she was not sure what horrified her more; the fact that when he touched Matthew's head he was truly gone or that afterward he seemed to have no clue as to what just happened. Dilis figured it was probably a little of both and fell back against the wall trying to put some distance between them.
"What do you mean 'not again. You did something to my friend and I want to know what!" How could HE of all people be in horror when was it not HE that caused this scene.
"My name is Dilis and h-he was stabbed by a mugger. He was foolishly trying to save me and my necklace" she said shivering, it was not this cold before... could it be?
Nevertheless, she still could not believe that all this was caused by him refusing to give up her pearls... if it meant Matthew would come back, she would give them back in a heartbeat.

"Did... something?" Lior stared down at the dead man, wondering what exactly was going on. Stabbed by a mugger. Where did he come into this picture? Was he in the area at the time? He didn't think so. "I don't think I did anything. I don't know. I can't remember. I'm not exactly sure where I am right now."
Dull golden eyes raised to look around, a half-hearted attempt not to watch the woman in her shivering grief. He had watched scenes like this before, or close enough that the distinctions just didn't matter. He'd seen an awful lot more of death in the past month than he ever had in his entire sheltered life at the palace. It opened his eyes in less than pleasant ways. As if he hadn't already had a low enough opinion of other people, and himself, in the grand scheme of things.
He felt eyes on the back of his neck, as if someone was watching him, and shivered slightly. "I don't think we should be in this place. It doesn't seem safe at all." He belatedly realized that this was an intensely stupid thing for him to have said, present circumstances what they were, and fell awkwardly silent.

"Yes. you did something. We were attacked and Matthew got stabbed and you came over and did something to him. Now he is gone forever..." she sobbed. Logically Matthew was dead anyway but logic did not occur to Dilis very much. Such a silly girl. "How could you not remember!" she cried. She really did not understand how this card could not remember her friend's death. There was something not right about him.
"B-but what about Matthew? I cannot just leave him out here for these... monsters. No. I simply must find a way to get him back to Avington to be buried."
She looked around and saw a long wooden box (*shudder coffin) and she pulled it over next to him. She got Matthew leaned over it no problem but it occurred to her that she was not strong enough to push him entirely into it nor could she get it back to Avington easily. Though she supposed if she could call a carriage she could at least have that luxury to get back home with. Suddenly feeling hopeless, she fell to the ground in a slump. What was she going to do...

Lior couldn't remember 'doing something' to the man lying dead in her arms, and from what she said he didn't have any part in the actual attack... not that he would ever attack anyone anyway. That was such an out-of-character thought as to be ridiculous, unless they were threatening his life. Still, the distraught woman seemed quite convinced and he didn't know enough about the situation to contradict her. The man was, indeed, very dead. That much was obvious just by looking at him, and besides, something in the back of his head just felt it. The sensation was odd and slightly unwelcome.
"I've never been especially strong, and I don't have my biped form. I can't carry him. Especially not in that." The feline watched in vague disbelief as the woman - Dilis, he reminded himself - managed to find a coffin of all things. Talk about the most unusual coincidence. Maybe they were near a coffinmaker's shop? He didn't know and didn't want to know.
The very thought of hauling a corpse to a different part of the city, much less to Avington, boggled his mind. He didn't really want anything to do with the undertaking. He just wanted to leave before the sense of 'someone there' got stronger and another mugger came to take what the first missed out on, or something equally unpleasant. At the same time, if he was in any way responsible for this mess...
Damn it, why couldn't he remember?! He closed his eyes against the anger and frustration, took a deep breath, and opened them again to stare at her. "We need to leave. We can't bring a coffin back with us. I know you can't see it under the cloak, but I'm no Club. I don't have any super-strength to rely on or anything like that, so unless you do, we need to leave him there and go before someone sticks a knife in us too."

((I am so sorry it has taken so long, life is awful >.<))
She pet Matthew's hair and hugged him close. There was no way she could abandon him after all he had done for her. He had been her rock when she wanted to end it all and now he was gone because of her stupidity. Fate was an awful thing; at the moment it kind of felt like it was toying with her... but that was really a silly notion, right?
Dilis looked at the man with tears in her eyes. Leave Matthew? She could not even stand the thought but really, thinking soundly about it now... it was probably for the best. She could always have father come fetch him in the morning for a proper burial. "Alright... I understand. I guess I was not thinking straight..." she said sadly as she got up and brushed herself off. "I agree that here is no the best place to be so we shall leave." she nodded and start walking away from the awful scene.

((It's okay, I understand - I /really/ do. <3))
Lior didn't know anything about the emotional attachments holding her to the man's body beyond the fact that he was apparently all she had and a friend who had died to save her... which said a lot, he supposed, when you came right down to it. He couldn't think of many people who would do something like that for him besides family. He knew that Uncle Bernard would do anything for family and his sister would probably - or would have probably - done so. No one else, though. It was a precious list, people who felt that you mattered enough to place the value of your life above their own, even when you didn't deserve it. He would never deserve something like that, especially not now, after everything that seemed to keep happening.
But now he was letting himself get hugely off-track and consumed by thoughts he'd already gone over a thousand times before. He just didn't have time for them now. Pushing them aside, he also tried to ignore the way her eyes glistened with unshed tears. It made him distinctly uncomfortable, especially since he wasn't yet sure of what hand he'd had in things.
At least she seemed willing to accept his advice for the time being and save her own skin before worrying about the body of her dead Matthew. That was good, wasn't it? The fact that he couldn't answer that question easily also made him uncomfortable. "Good, thank you. I don't usually come by this area of the city at all and I don't know which way I came here from, so unless you know how to get back to a better part of town, we may be in trouble."
