Heilyn couldn't help but give a small smile as Seth flew up to be next to her. She stopped herself from sighing as he kissed her. She felt like a stupid hormonal teenage girl... and she loved it. She'd become very attached to the Bat in the time she'd spent with him. His presence would've been greatly missed. She laughed.
"Yes, both of those things are true," she watched him put on his mask, "but you could easily find someone else to fulfill those things for you, a 10 with such an impressive biped form and all." A smirk touched her lips.
"If you get sick of wearing that mask, we can always go up to the canopy and breath the clean air above the tree tops. It... takes it's toll after a while..."
She began climbing down the wall and in. Within 15 minutes they would meet up with their escort party of natives. Heilyn was glad to be Home. By the end of the day they would be in civilization... the sickness she had felt the past two mornings was beginning to worry her.

Seth pretended ignore what she said. He wasn't going to reply, for fear that his answer wouldn't be the right one. He didn't want to annoy or piss her off with a noncommittal reply, but he didn't want to admit to the fact that when it came down to it, he didn't want anyone else. That feeling scared him, and he could only imagine how the coyote would react to the news. It was easiest for him to simply shrug it off for now.
The mask was a near-perfect fit to his snout, though he could tell wearing it for too long would get quite stifling. Already, he could feel the muggy air of the bog, and knew that he would need to watch himself carefully to make sure he didn't overheat. Over the trees would be a wonderful escape for him, should he feel himself becoming too hot. For the time, he ignored his worries and followed her down, flaring his wings and landing softly on the soft ground beside her. He managed to keep his fur from bristling as they travelled, doing his best to ignore the stares that he was getting from the group that led them along.
"So, uh, Lyn,[/b]" the bat finally said after walking in silence for several minutes. His voice sounded strange to him, locked away inside of the mask. He was completely distracted by the landscape around him. After spending his life in the dead glacier, the diversity here was almost too much for him to take. "From here on out, I have your backup, right? I have no idea what's out here.[/b]"

The group whispered to each other, some excited, some quite skeptical, but very clearly indicating the Solandrian. All three pairs of slit yellow eyes on him. Ah, they had a Fianna with them, excellent. She was young, a Mouse in her Bipedal form, she was 13 at the most, flat as a board. However, the hardened expression on her face made her look much older than she actually was. Her mask was worn at the side of her head, the other two had theirs tied around their waists. Oh, crap.
"Lucrecia?" she asked. So she'd gotten her Human form by then... but that lusty smirk traveling between and up and down both Heilyn and Seth slowly and thoroughly was unmistakable. She smirk became a grin at being recognized. They began walking. "Watch yourself around that one... raging perv," she said with a laugh.
They walked in silence, even though she knew her fellow Bog Dwellers wanted to yammer until the sun went down. The young girl's head whipped around and hissed at Heilyn when Seth spoke.
"<Will you tell that lumbering foreign furball to shut his yammering trap?! Raider scouts have been out in force the past week!>" She glared at the girl, then whispered to Seth.
"Try to keep it down a little, k?" she whispered, asking a little kinder than the girl demanded, "You absolutely have my back-up. I have given you some warning, but it's nothing like being up against the real thing..."

As fascinated as the Bog Dwellers were with Seth and his bright blue hair, Seth was even more fascinated by them. He had thought that Lyn was an astoundingly unique and quite sexy individual, and now he was surrounded by people with the same kind of oil-slick coats and piercing yellow eyes. The coyote was still the best looking out of the group, he realized, but it still came as a surprise to see so many people who looked like her. He also found himself grinning at the one who had been checking him out. He loved feeling that his biped form was as attractive as Heilyn'd said it was. "Is there anything wrong with that?[/b]" he asked, inwardly wondering to himself... Did Heilyn have a sister?
At her question, Seth bit his lip. Okay, okay, so he needed to not talk. He could hear in the tone used by the other woman that she hadn't asked quite as nicely as Lyn had translated. His ears flicked back slightly, glad his eyes were mostly hidden from view, and nodded at the coyote. "I appreciate it,[/b]" he responded, voice low and quiet. "Even all the information I got... Well, just makes me feel more nervous, honestly. This is a really scary place.[/b]"

The Air of the bog was terrifying. Has it always been this way...? and the smell? she never would have noticed had she not left and come back. How odd she must smell to them, especially now that she'd obliterated the scent of the Bog from her...
"There's nothing wrong with it," she responded, "I'm just giving you warning that if you let that one sink her claws into you, she'll steal your soul, give 'er half a chance."
She had to give a small smile to him. "I know the aura of the place is a touch daunting, but you should get used to it in a little while. You have us. You are safe," she reassured him softly. It was almost surreal, being on this side of the mask. She couldn't see most of his face and eyes behind the emotionless shield covering his face. Had this been what it was like for everyone else dealing with her?
As they got deeper into the Bog, the tree canopy was so thick that there was only pink stars left of the sunset Outside. The perverted little Lynx, Lucrecia, pulled out a small lantern and tapped the glass. Light seemed to be coming from the glass itself rather than from inside. Heilyn stumbled over a root, but caught her footing very quickly. The light from the small lantern was vary small, and Heilyn did not have her low light vision back, having partially adjusted to the brighter light Outside.
The young Mouse suddenly began flitting away from their group ahead, out of sight, and back to them. Heilyn would explain to Seth the Fiannas as soon as they were settled. She touched his shoulder to reassure him, knowing that he would need the contact, coming so deep into a place so different... Suddenly, the young Fianna came back, hissing at them to hide.
"Seth, come with us," she followed the other two behind some trees to watch...

The bat shrugged casually, trying hard not to laugh at that, and moved in, bumping against Heilyn's shoulder even as he turned his attention to the rear end of the lynx. He could easily appreciate the sway in her walk. It was a welcome distraction from the land that surrounded them. The whole place just had an aura of... Seth wasn't sure quite what it was, but he felt extremely uncomfortable. It didn't help that he felt so out of place, and his ears flipped backwards, nearly flattening against his neck.
The number of women that were around him just weren't enough. Not even Heilyn at his side could distract him from his discomfort.
Then she spoke to him, and he turned to look at her, eyes shining under the protection of his mask. He didn't say anything, but his posture relaxed ever so slightly, gently wrapping an arm around her shoulders and pulling her against himself. "Hard not to feel safe next to sexy ladies like you,[/b]" The touch was the perfect distraction, and he couldn't help but feel at least a little safer with her at his side. His discomfort was likely only caused by the unfamiliarity of the land, and knowing that he had someone right with him that did know the land was hugely comforting.
He tensed up as the mood around them changed, and a soft growl escaped him as his grip on Heilyn became protective. He followed her lead to the bushes, glancing at her from under the lenses of his mask as they took shelter. "What the hell is going on, Lyn?[/b]"

Hidden under the fur of her bipedal form and darkness of the region, Heilyn blushed slightly at being pulled close to him. She stumbled slightly, not expecting the touch, and quite embarrassed about the comfort the familiar feeling of his warmth radiating through that incredibly soft, thick fur brought her. It meant he was at least coping, which meant he might stay... she was honestly expecting him to leave halfway through this trip, this portion of the journey being far more trouble than than what she was paying him. She refrained from running her fingers through the brown tabby coat and instead gave a small "tch" in what was supposed to be disapproval at his comment. A huge grin spread across the face of the Lynx as Heilyn made no action to cease the gesture.
For someone who could not understand the language and who was, quite frankly, not the sharpest tool in the shed, Seth was at least a perceptive man. He was immediately ready for action as soon as the mood changed as the protective tightening of his grip on her told her. He was very much worth keeping around. Let's just hope he wants to stay...
"Remember the Raiders I told you about?" she whispered as they hide, to anyone with less sensitive hearing than Seth, her words would've been inaudible, "Apparently there's one headed this way. This is one danger I refuse to send you into until you've at least seen it first hand..." she nodded her head to where he should be looking. The Lynx immediately dimmed the lantern she carried to nothing. A... something that resembled a Card in its Human form staggered out onto the "path" they were just on. She had a patch of fur that was not her own sewn over her rank and suit with a heavy cord. The pierced skin looked infected. Twigs and leaves were tangled in the thick, greasy mass that was hair and the entire figure was filthy to the point where the original skin tone was nearly discernible from the muck. She was missing a boot and the bare foot was calloused, but cut and bleeding. Her finger and toe nails had grown beyond anything that was function. Broken, jagged, dirt-stained nails clawed at her face and neck as she muttered incoherently. Open, infected, oozing wounds decorated the skin under torn and tattered clothing. She had piercings on her torso's sides, thick rings that seemed to imply the ceramic jewelery actually looped around the rib the piercing corresponded with. It looked up through a curtain of greasy tangled hair at the young girl and froze for a moment before giving a screech most would not think possible from the human form's vocal chords and lunged at the girl, who calming but swiftly went about tearing the abomination to shreds.
Heilyn lightly touched Seth's hand and whispered sarcastically.
"Welcome to the Bog."

A single ear twitched in anticipation, and the man lowered himself down ever so slightly, ducking down below the line of sight. He was cursing the mask he had to wear, very slowly reaching up to rub the lenses clean to give him a better view of all that was going on around him. As his hand fell away and his red eyes fell on what had to be the raider, he froze, every hair on his body bristling with obvious distaste. He took the breifest of seconds to look at Heilyn, not wanting to turn his attention from the Raider for too long. "I appreciate that,[/b]" he replied, voice low and almost somewhat gravelly.
He remained tense even as the lynx tore into the creature, now glad for the mask that covered his face and hid his expression. The disgust that was seeping, uncontrolled, from him would have garnered him at least some attention, he was sure.
"Why do those things even exist?![/b]" he finally asked, turning to look at the coyote with a deeply furrowed brow. "I mean... what the fuck is wrong with this place that something like that can even exist?![/b]"

[Actually, the vermin was the Fianna, but it's not like it matters much. xD]
Heilyn watched Seth, trying to gauge as much of his reaction with what little she could see of his face. She'd seen many Raiders before, so this was nothing new or special. The young Fianna's skill? nothing new or special, either.
The young girl raced on ahead again as the Lynx re-lit the lantern and they continued.
"It's the poisons," she told him quietly, "and the magic in the air. Some can't handle it and either go insane or are born completely insane. Some of the Raiders aren't like that. Outlaws, sane people, who have escaped our justice system and go to live with them, exploiting their detachment from reality.
I've told you of the Raider hierarchy, right?" She couldn't remember. She nodded her head in front of them.
"See that light? It's a small lantern, a marker. We're about a half an hour's walk from civilization. Don't step in the water. I suggest you go by the treetops. Not much room to really fly, I know, but you'll suffer the most from the effects of the mud." she warned him, shifting to her Animal form, the form she had growing up here, and leaped from tree root to gnarled tree root behind the others and landed with a 'squish' on the tainted mud. A wave of nostalgia washed over her. It was incredible how much she missed the cursed land she called her Home.
After some uneventful time later of traveling through the haunting wildlands of the Bog, another marker was passed, the ground was becoming considerably dryer. She beckoned him down.
"We're about five minutes away," she paused, nervous of the answer, "How are you holding up?"
