The stallion's thoughts were wrapped solely up in getting them out of the city and to safety; for now the future would have to wait. Perhaps his demeanour seemed more severe than usual or perhaps it was just the late hour, but no one seemed overly interested in their business. Good; they just needed to keep it that way.
As they neared the city's gates, Rai found his thoughts moving to the future; wot in the world was he going to tell Elias about this? His ears flattened uneasily with that thought. His compassion and kindness were well hidden; he'd only help when he was certain no one would know. At least, the horse comforted his pride with the thought, his cabin in Josiggy Marsh was concealed and far off the beaten path. They did not get casual visitors, and he could easily divert the tourist traffic by having them meet up elsewhere.
Stashing George out of sight, actually, was looking to be an easier and easier proposition. Rai had a distinct sense of relief at that realization. El would know to keep his mouth shut if Rai told him to; the canine was intelligent for all his horrendous sense of humour. Everything would be alright. The stallion’s ears kept flicking around in swift, paranoid sweeps, listening for followers. His grey-green eyes kept a sharp lookout for anyone too interested in him or his billowy companion. And his hooves continued their swift pace as they headed out of the Capital.
(( At some point do we need to start a new RP out in Josiggy? (^_^)v))

((Sadly, they can't make it that far due to plot. Fear not as no one will be hurt, but they will be accosted X3)) George stumbled again, the cloak slipping slightly as he tried to keep up, the horse had long legs and quick strides...he did his best. He quickly remedied the situation and stayed as close behind Whip as his body would allow, breathing fast as they passed a pub on the outside of town, his eyes staying focused on the ground in front of him, trying not to listen to the mass of voices laughing and singing inside. He wished he could just go in, sit down and get some water, without anyone caring...he knew better. Even if he weren't on the lam, someone in there would kick him out because of what he was...cursed the rat had said...maybe it was true. George nearly yelped in fear as the door to the pub banged open, whipping outward as two people fell out of the door. A large form blocked the light from the doorway, laughing at the fallen creatures and calling back inside that the trash was out. The creature moved out onto the stairs leading down to the path they were traveling on, carrying a rucksack and wearing a bright red tunic. "Hey there!"The voice sounded overly loud and brash. The creature moved down off the steps after them, interested in their quickened pace and smiling at the idea of someone sneaking about. "Where are you two going?"

(( Yay, accostment! xD ))
For two strides, Shinrai hoped that perhaps they would just make it by when the two creatures were foisted from the bar. After all, who were they but two uninteresting travelers passing unexcitingly by with no truly extraordinary features? Right? He wished the nosy beings of the Capital City would just keep their noses to themselves for awhile.
The horse swept his hindquarters around, a graceful movement whose entire purpose was to bump George gently to the side so the stallion’s larger green body could keep the smaller form of the Club from being as obvious. Grey-green eyes swept up the huge figure who called them and a sinking feeling settled into his gut. He didn’t like the look of this particular man at all. Very much at all.
His mind whirled through possibilities as he continued to look over the other regally. Normally his response would be biting and harsh, but Rai didn’t think that would be the best answer right now; he didn’t think the Highlander would take it well. If it wasn’t for George, he wouldn’t care but…. But this whole thing was for George. He had to get the child out of the city.
”Out for a midnight stroll,” the stallion answered with a slight baring of his teeth in a parody of a grin; it was a look that stated the information wasn’t any of the other man’s business despite the stallion's best intentions. ”And you appear busy with your chores. Let’s continue our discussion some other time when we’re less preoccupied, hm?” His tail slipped sideways to gently bump George’s back, encouraging him to step with the horse as Shinrai began to move away again.

Gaston couldn't help but grin at the stallion, lips pulled back to show off his dazzling smile...trying to hide something, eh? Well, well...he loved this game, whether he wanted what was hidden or not...it would be his for the sole purpose of depriving the other.
"My good man..." The highland mix murmured, stepping into an uncomfortably close range. "The only thing I'm preoccupied with as of now happens to be you...and whatever that is, let's see who's there...shall we?"
He reached his large hand forward, in an attempt to snag the cloak, only to have the small figure move just out of his reach. Not to be daunted, Gaston flipped his hair back over his shoulder and smiled at the Equine again, this time making a note to pull down his leather collar to reveal the Heart symbol and the vibrantly red "K" emblazoned on his white fur.
"As much fun as this is, sir...I think, naha, that you should let me take a look...could be dangerous."
He said with a chuckle, meaning now to simply disrobe the smaller figure, have a laugh and go back into the bar. He was therefore shocked when a small Human darted out from under the cloak with a yelp and sprinted off past him, back toward the bar. A small green blur was hard on its heels and it swerved around the sprawled figures on the ground, ducked behind the bar and was gone.
Gaston blinked in mild surprise, eyebrows hiked up...what the hell was that?
"Well...um...sorry about that...I guess. Um...Drinks on me, I suppose. Come on then."
He turned and rushed back into the bar, hoping the other man wouldn't put up a huge fuss...he was embarrassed enough as it was.

It all happened too fast, really: George was disrobed and gone, and this King was pulling him into the bar and the stallion simply didn’t know wot to do. He couldn’t abandon the child, not after all that had happened; he’d thrown in with the Four, blast it! He was mentally and emotionally prepared and he couldn’t afford to be put off because someone decided they wanted a laugh!
But this was a King of Hearts and, from his attitude, evidently one powerful enough to back up his rank. Double blast. Rai’s ears flattened unconsciously as his mind whirled through the best option to take. In the end, it was the realization that George couldn’t afford attention from a King of Hearts that decided the horse. If Rai put up a scene, then chances were higher of pursuit. From the rumours he had heard of the intrigues of the Court, some parts of the Court didn’t know wot the other parts were doing, but he had no proof that this man wasn’t in some way associated with the pursuit of the Club. Too many factors to deal with too quickly.
Shinrai made a final attempt to get away; there –was- always the chance the Highland mix would just let him go. A slim chance that the stallion in no way thought would actually occur. ”I need to go,” he replied, trying to judge his chances of escape from the canine/deer mix’s face. Someone was certainly used to getting their own way, and Rai was merely a ‘lowly’ Jack; he needed more power just to stand up to this one. The horse was also intimately aware of the King’s ability to simply take control of him if needed; a bitter pill to swallow. Could a King see through his illusion? And if it was touched?
Triple blast.
At the very least, the stallion would leave the robe behind, hoping that George might be able to sneak back and take it. He felt a fool for coming this far, only to cause the child to go into hiding in the city yet again. He just hoped that he could at least buy George some time to get hidden. Perhaps the child would be waiting for his return to the suite. Perhaps. Doubtful.
(( Thought i was going to do a major re-write, but ended up as a little more tweaking. ^^;; ))

Gaston let the stallion go immediately, looking relieved.
"Heh...uh, yes! Of course, of course! Places to be and all that. If you ever run by here again, just drop in and tell the barkeep that you get a freebie on the tab of Gaston...farewell."
He then hastened back inside the bar, away from the dark featured Jack and the memory of the odd bolting child...or midget.
He smiled...midget...nhaha...midget That made everything seem a bit better...if he was just hiding an embarrassed midget, of course..nothing creepy about that.
The Highland mix sat back down in between two buxom felines, trying to shake the dour Jack from his mind.
"So..ladies...where were we?"
---------------------------------
George didn't stop running until he hit the edge of the forest, he looked back once to see if he could catch a glimpse of Whip...all he could spot was the faint glow from the bar.
Squeezing his eyes tightly shut to repress the worst of the tears he hesitated for a few more seconds, as though hoping that the Equine would suddenly appear beside him.
Biting down on his lower lip to stop any noise, he cast a quick glance down at his Bander, and plunged into the dark trees.
((OOC: Sorry for the long wait on my wrap-up post...O__o been kind of crazy <3 Thanks for the run, George needed that, I'll make certain they meet again some day when George reappears <3))
