He didn’t flinch, not with Queen Serafino’s warning and endorsement, but it was an amazing cost nevertheless. And one worth every last bit of its price. He met the feline’s eyes steadily, grey-green gaze firm and certain. In answer, he gave the blue bander one final caress— he would need both hands for this— then carefully placed the male on the floor so he could scamper off and make a swipe at his brother. The stallion gently pushed his half-eaten meal to the side so he could place his bag up on the table and flip it open. He didn’t make the contents available, but he did open a pouch inside, then quietly and composedly began to count out the required tokens.
At thirty, he stopped, though he left the hidden pouch open; he had just a few more tokens, but no desire to really give proof of their existence unless needed, which he likely would as the handsome blue deserved an equally nice collar and lead, if Paisley had something fitting on hand. He’d converted a large portion of his savings to tokens for this at the Queen’s recommendation.
”If I were to inquire about collars and leashes,” the stallion said quietly. ”Would you have anything to offer?”

Paisley watched as each and every piece was counted out, tea in hand and brought to his lips more than once throughout the course of the session. He even went so far as to refill his cup with tea and heavy cream before taking one last steaming sip and returning the cup to its saucer, carefully drawing the tokens close to him and leaving them settled on his side of the table. He sat quite still, head tilted, looking at the equine.
"I have my own personal stock of accessories," he answered thoughtfully. "They are perhaps of a higher quality than what you will find in common stores and I do not often give them out. I could offer them at a price, I suppose." He stroked the edge of his cup, not picking it up quite yet. "I would charge you five tokens, I suppose, for a collar and lead. They are made of specially cured Avington leather and I would provide a small charm with the collar to confirm your ownership to anyone foolish enough to check such a thing up close."

Shinrai gave a small nod, trying to keep from showing his immense inner delight and desire to abruptly cackle in joy at his purchase. Now that the little male was his, the stallion felt he had every right to be superbly pleased with the world. If five more tokens was a bit more than he had hoped to pay for accessories, at least they were well worth it for the quality his bander deserved. It wasn’t as if this fee was unexpected either; Queen Serafino had warned him multiple times of the cost involved.
”That sounds most agreeable,” the stallion answered easily, keeping most of his happiness out of his voice. His eyes were twinkling a great deal more than he would care to know, though. ”No trouble getting it ready before tomorrow?” Because he would need to head back soon and couldn’t afford many delays; the Queen was being exceedingly kind-hearted in letting him take a week off for this venture and he doubted Serafino would be lenient for much longer.

Paisley flicked one hand-paw dismissively, accepting the additional five tokens without so much as a flicker of expression. "Oh yes, I am quite used to the requirements of readying a kit for travel. The accessories will be no great difficulty and I can call on my usual engraver now, to deliver the tag before you leave tomorrow morning. You will, of course, be my guest for dinner and breakfast before you leave."
He took another fish, appetite not yet appeased, and bit off its head with a satisfying crunch. "Once we have finished with this luncheon, I will show you to a guest room and allow you to become more acquainted with the kit while I take care of necessary details. There shouldn't be anything more required on your part, as you don't have to sign a female breeding agreement as others have. It is merely preferred that you keep his 'activity' to suitable females, not required."
