Viola remained curled around her Dori. She didn't care what happened now. She just wanted to stop crying and be alone with Dori. She wanted Siggy too, but she couldn't have him apparently. All she could do was cry and whimper. If father saw her like this she would be in trouble. If anyone other than Lani saw her like this she would be in trouble.
She shook her head at the thought of someone yelling. Carefully she picked up Dori and slithered over to another pile of stuffed animals. After a bit of struggling she managed to burrow herself in the pile. Her antlers tore one of the other dolls. Vio gave a slight whimper. Oh well, another doll to be fixed. At least she still had Dori. That was the only one she cared about now.
She sniffed again, rubbing her face against one of the stuffed dolls. Maybe they would make the tears go away? It was such a stupid argument to begin with. It was over a doll. Why did Lani have to be so mean?

Lani sat at the top of the steps for a while longer, head slowly hunkering down between her shoulders as the guilt became stronger. She had been... really mean. Even she couldn't deny that. Sure, it had let her 'win' the argument, but it wasn't even one of the big arguments to win. It was just over a stupid doll that she didn't even like very much. Vio should have known better than to yell at her...
But she shouldn't mess with her sister's dumb dolls and stuffed toys either, not unless they were playing together. She just thought the dolls were kind of pointless without her sister giving them life. She'd rather play with her feathers and her fabrics and make herself pretty instead of a toy.
Calmed down and feeling a lot worse than when this whole failed prank had started, the pup carefully picked up the doll in her mouth and padded back towards her - their - room. Would her sister even want to play with her now that she'd slobbered all over her doll? Of course, she was her sister... what else would she do? Ignore her? In her own room? Pfft. No one could ignore Lani.
Still. She might be huffy. And cry more. And that would make her feel... bad. Drat. She nosed open the door and, not immediately seeing Vio, she walked towards the pile of stuffed animals.

"Go away. Please." Viola sniffed. She didn't want Lani to yell at her again. She was going to. She always did. "I'm sorry. I don't want to be yelled at anymore." He choked back the tears, sobbing all the way.
She carefully popped her head out of the pile of stuffed animals to see Lani walk towards her with Siggy. She wanted to whimper again, but the tears filling her eyes were enough. She pulled her head back into the pile and cried. Vio could have sworn that she was done with all this, but they kept coming. Why was she so useless?
"Y-y-you're going to yell again aren't you? Or did you tell father that I was crying? Please tell me you didn't tell father!" She broke into another wave of tears. It was just stupid doll! Why did Lani have to take it?

Lani opened her jaws and let the doll drop wetly to the floor, lying limp in its own little pile. Now that she saw just how upset her sister was it made her feel even worse. Whether or not Vio was a crybaby or a Jack or an silly little 'child', she was still her sister. It made her stomach churn unpleasantly to see the wet streaks of tears running down the prettily scaled face.
"I'm not going to yell again," she muttered guiltily. "And I didn't tell Father. It's not any of his business whether or not you're a crybaby. Come on. I brought your doll back. I won't touch it again if it makes you that unhappy. Now stop crying..."
With a quick glance around, even though it was their room and of course no one else would be there, she walked up to the moving pile of stuffed animals and reached in to lick her sister's cheek. "There. I said sorry. C'mon, stop crying."

She had been following her brother again, making sure that he was okay. A small smile lighted upon her face as he told Lani exactly what he thought. He wasn't mean, but he wasn't pulling punches either. Good boy. Perhaps he could make it amongst the courts afterall. However, she didn't like the sounds of what Lani was doing to Vio and decided to stop following Lior if only for a few minutes. Linda slithered quietly after Lani, watching the guilt set in with grim satisfaction. It was a horrible thing, to pick on a sibling. Completely uncalled for and rude. She honestly believed there should be nothing but love and compassion between siblings. As Lani entered their nursery room, Linda slowed, staying in the doorway quietly and watching the exchange. She didn't want to interfere at all, but she honestly wanted to help so she waited to see if she'd have to step in.

Vio's tears slowed. She let out a soft sob as her sister licked her cheek. Sorry was good enough for her. Viola carefully wiggled her way out of her protective fort of stuffed animals, making sure she didn't hit Lani with her antlers. She choked back some of the sobs as she slithered back to the floor.
"I-I didn't mean to get so upset over Siggy. It's just... I guess I get a little jealous when you touch my stuff. I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean to yell at you." She choked back another wave of tears. She had no reason to cry anymore, but they still felt like coming. She held them back better now that Lani was around. She looked at her sister with sad eyes. Vio knew better than to yell, it always ended up this way. Hopefully no one else had heard her. She didn't want to get in trouble for crying or embarrass herself in front of Linda or Lior. Being the youngest, though, she did it more often than she liked.

"It's okay. I, um, forgive you," Lani said with a slow thump of her feathered tail, sitting down in front of her sister. She'd never rat her sister out to their father, never ever. That would just be wrong and violate the little 'code' she had going in her head. If only she didn't mess it up so bad when she got angry. Pranks were one thing, downright nastiness was another.
Those eyes cut her to the quick and she looked away, vestiges of guilt still clinging to her mind. "Do you, um, want to play? Or something? I thought you were outside or I would have asked you that in the first place. Before I looked at your doll and, well, yeah." That was all she'd really wanted in the first place, but since there hadn't been anyone around to play with immediately, she'd decided to play a prank instead. Not her best idea, it seemed.

The snake-deer grinned. "Okay! I think that'd be fun. Though..." She looked down to Siggy. He was a bit wet with drool. "Maybe we should let Siggy dry off? What do you want to play?"
The argument was pretty much settled for Vio. She had no problem now that Lani wanted to play. All was forgiven, and everything was perfect now. They had to work on the whole arguing thing, sure, but it didn't really matter at the moment. They could solve it some other time. She couldn't really blame her sister for acting like that. Yelling just made things worse. Viola couldn't help it though. It was the only thing she could do when she was so frustrated.
They had to work a lot out before they got older. It could honestly wait though. Forgive and forget. Playing. That was better than fighting. All's well that ends well.5

Lani tilted her head thoughtfully. What did she want to play? Certainly nothing to do with the soggy doll sitting on the floor. If Vio was willing to play anything at all, then there was one game in particular she always enjoyed. "Let's play dress-up, kay?" she asked, easy grin returning as she thought of the new feathery boa Daddy gave her last week. It was bright and yellow and long enough to play with properly.
When she turned, expecting her sister's agreement and determined to dig out a few choice pieces to play with, she caught sight of Linda in the doorway and paused in surprise. Did the older girl want something? Did she... had she heard any of the argument? That would be embarrassing, especially if Lior told her or something like that.
Well. She would either say something or she wouldn't, and it didn't much matter either way. "Heya, Linda. We're gonna play dress-up. Do you want to play?"

Linda watched the exchange without really hearing any of the words, though she could tell that things were being fixed. Well that was good, she hated seeing fights between siblings, completely unwarranted in her opinion. She was about to turn when Lani turned and spotted her.
"Oh! I was just passing by." she said quickly, getting caught eavesdropping, how horrible. It was a good thing she wasn't as warm-blooded as her brother, otherwise a rather crimson blush would have spread over her cheeks.
"If. . if you don't mind Lokelani. . Viola." She nodded at the girls. "I'd love to play with you girls." She grinned wide and moved into the room tentatively. "You . . don't mind me in your room?" She hesitated for a second.
She knew all to well how father responded to some people entering his room, and it wasn't always good. Better to ask before entering completely than somehow offending them with an assumption.
