Rai's attention wandered away, noting absently their other guest but ignoring him. . . well, ignoring him until the Morganberry canine began to scold them. He blinked in surprise, turning to stare towards the ghost with some wonderment. The little. . . If the thing wasn't a ghost, he would have smacked the man for that little quip. Dead, however, seemed a good enough punishment. Though that probably explained the man's outspokenness.
Rai coughed in his hand as the ghost turned his attention on Aderlass, and the stallion was relieved that the ghost's disparaging comments seemed to cover everyone and not just the Queen of Hearts. It was too bad ghosts were as they were. They could make excellent spies if there was anyway to tap into their power. Though that brought up memories he didn't wish to recall.
"You were acting like you were drunk," Ira put in cheerfully. "He went running off like a Rabbit on crack and yelling cheerfully about another curse he could put on."

At Elias' blaming Ira for the mis-happening the Queen could not help but give the cannibalistic canine a grin. Though he kept it well mannered. He would not put it past the canine - snot, he could believe it having seen all the hell the kid had raised growing up.
The grin leaving but the laughter still in his eyes, he looked back to the King. "Well, it definitely is something. If there is a longer version that is just as entertaining I would love to hear it sometime." The last comment was aimed at both of the Kings, glancing between them.
As he got a good look at what the mask had done to his King's face, he barely suppressed a shiver. Glancing away with only his eyes he continued, "I have actually been needing to speak with you, Elias. Considering all that you have done for me through the years . . . " His eyes went to Rai and he gave a nod of his head, "I am promoting you to the position of a Queen."

As he listened, he couldn't help but think that Elias had perhaps deserved the scarring he got to some degree... Cursed items weren't things that you should mess with, even jokingly. He'd seen plenty of people get some rather... nasty side effects in his days. he paused as he thought about this... People were really dumb with cursed looking items weren't they? He doubted he had ever seen one which wasn't purposefully put on by someone curious- or dumb.
He was pretty caught up in his own thoughts, and thus when he heard that 'promoting you to the position of a queen' a very surprised look of shock was evident on his face, and he sputtered for a moment before shaking his head to clear it again. "You're... You're just going to present it like that? Gah... No one has a sense of ceremony anymore." He looked up at Shinrai, then sighed. "Please tell me you're a little more formal..."
To tell the truth, he probably didn't care so much as he made it out to be... Everything was just so dreadfully boring that he had to find some way of amusing himself, it was so hard when no one could even see or touch you. What else was he supposed to do? Well... Other than spying on people... he did do that sometimes.

Elias was stunned speechless by this turn of events. He wouldn't turn down the power that being a Queen would afford, but he also hadn't been seeking the position. He was flattered and humbled by the promotion, and didn't know what to do with those emotions.
Finally, he settled for his version of bowing low to the ground. "Thank you, Your Majesty. I'll use the position and authority well." And he would. In fact, things were going better and better for him all the time. Rai didn't seem to have any challengers for his position, which, knowing Whip, would mean that he would only get more support. Elias had been making progress with Kelasia, and even if she might not make the best mate or lover, she could help him gain further influence in the city, and hopefully the Court of Diamonds.
Yes indeed, it would take some freak act to derail his plans horribly at this point. Someone would practically have to die, as long as he kept playing his role. He was pleased. "Now, about that longer version, Your Majesty. . ." he said when given permission to rise.
