The answer to her question came soon enough, and the girl nearly collapsed completely. This was the second time now that Rogers had saved her life, and even the sound of his voice was enough for her to think for a second that things were going to be okay.
She whimpered softly when he touched her cheek, rounding her shoulders in a feeble attempt to make the damage less obvious. A fine tremor was going through her, caused by a combination of the cold, the pain, and the blood she'd lost. She could only imagine how terrible she looked, but that was pushed aside by the joy that it was Rogers who found her. He was Family, after all, and she knew that she was going to be okay now that she had been found. Even that joy couldn't offset the pain she felt, though.
"Rogers, it hurts,[/b]" the young woman whimpered as she felt him wrap his arms around her, doing her best to move in a way that would make it easier for him to pick her up. When she was off of the rock her remaining eye slid shut again, no longer staring blankly up at him. "I shouldn't have left... I s-should have just stayed in, I'm so sorry... Oh God, it hurts..[/b]"
The extent of her shaking would only be more obvious as soon as he lifted her. She was in a bad condition, and if he listened closely he'd hear her whispering: "'m just dreaming... Just a bad dream."

Inside, Rogers was panicking. Outside, he was making little 'shh' noises and trying not to have a meltdown while simultaneously picking her up and trying not to drop her trembling frame. For a girl, she was heavy, or maybe that was just his wimpy arm muscles complaining at the sudden exercise. "It's okay, don't worry, don't apologize... it's not your fault, honey, and I'm going to get you home as soon as I can."
As quickly as he could manage, he carried her up the embankment and towards the road, and then stopped a passing carriage. One look at the burden in his arms and the passenger gave it up to him, a stroke of luck. Not everyone would have been so altruistic. He held her in such a way that her marking was pressed against his chest and not readily visible. There were fewer complications that way.
He got her home quickly, but between her waterlogged fur and her chilled shaking, he didn't know how much time he had. He banged his way into Theo's house in the city and shouted for someone - anyone - who might be inside. Others had been out looking as well.

( OOC: *throws Theo in* ) Theofilus had come home after being useless during the search. He had an awful feeling about the entire situation. How couldn't he? Asha was missing, but she was older now. She should have been safe, but how could she be safe? She was an Ace. People thought of her as property. An object that was too stupid to feel and nothing better than a pet. Asha though, was family. The sparrow couldn't shake the overwhelming feeling of despair. Please. He couldn't lose Asha. She had to be safe. He had been hoping in the dark, not being able to do much of anything but worry for her safety. As soon as he heard the shout and an unbelievable ruckus the sparrow hurried out of his room with a newly lit light. When he saw Asha his heart fell. He forced himself not to panic at the sight of her soaked body. Was that...blood or was that his imagination? "Oh god, Asha," he said, his voice cracking. "Rogers! Put her on the couch while I get some towels."It didn't take him long to duck into the bathroom and produce the said towels. All the time he worried about if Asha needed a doctor. Please let that not be blood. Please let her be okay. He could feel his heat pounding in protest in his chest. He knew nothing was okay.

Everything was a blur to Asha's mind, a flurry of noises and activity she couldn't see. She could feel Rogers carrying her and then the bumpy carriage ride. The whole way she curled more tightly around herself, moving into the canine's body heat and trying to conserve her own.
There was some persistant nagging feeling in the back of her head, repeating over and over that if she wasn't an Ace, the pain and shock of losing her eye wouldn't be affecting her this strongly. For the first time in what felt like years, she was able to push that thought down. Not everyone had a second chance at living, and Asha wasn't going to give hers up.
The carriage stopped and again, the world blurred. Her mind felt foggy and slow, not quite able to keep up with what was going on. She could tell that she was back out in the cold, but then she was in a house that smelled familiar and the heat was surrounding her like a thick blanket. She was finally home, and that very notion made her start to cry again. She could hear her papa's voice, and it brought a small whimper from her chest. How could she have done this to him?
"Papa..[/b]" the girl whimpered softly as Rogers lay her on the couch, tail curling around her body. She knew that he'd left the room, but the canine was still with her... "I'll be okay, right?[/b]" she said softly, turning weakly to look up at the man. "I didn't use it anyway...[/b]"
How would she be able to tell them what she'd done? All those people who loved her so much...

The master of the house himself was there, thank the suits. He did as instructed, laying her down oh-so-carefully on the couch. Its material was going to soak up so much water and dirt and nastiness, but that didn't matter at all right now. Theo was the Queen of Diamonds. He could afford a new one. He couldn't afford a new Asha.
"Yeah, you'll be okay," he whispered, getting a closer look at the damage done to her face. She was so incredibly cold. Did she have hypothermia? It wasn't freezing cold outside, but it was chilly enough that being soaked in a river was detrimental to her health, not to mention the shock of her missing eye and damaged socket. He didn't know anything about medicine, but he knew this wasn't good. They needed to get a doctor. She didn't look about to die... but she looked a mess.
He grabbed one of the towels as soon as Theo came back in the room, wrapping it tightly around her torso. Another went around her neck and head, carefully placed to stay away from her ruined socket. "I don't know what happened. She was next to a river and barely conscious when I found her," he whispered to Theo.

What Rogers said didn't help as he wrapped a towel around Asha. She looked a complete and utter mess. Theofilus blanked for a few moments. He had just installed a phone!
"Asha, baby, I'm going to go and call the doctor for you," Theofilus said before glancing to Rogers with a small nod. He had plenty of questions of "Why?" but it wasn't as if Rogers could answer them.
Theofilus brushed a hand against Asha's face lightly, before hurrying over to the phone. It was an ordeal, getting the operator and telling them to transfer him to a doctor. When everything was said and done the Doctor was going to be over in ten minutes.
Ten minutes was a long time.
Theofilus' feathers ruffled as he returned to the side of his injured daughter and Rogers. He wanted to know what happened to her so he could punish whoever it was who did this to her. But he wasn't going to force her to tell him anything, if she wanted to she would. He had faith in her.
"The doctor will be here in ten minutes or so," Theofilus said to Rogers quietly as he forced the tears back. He focused his attention back on Asha. "Everything is going to be fine sweetie."
