She wasn't exactly sure what it was about the situation that irked her, but she couldn't help but feel annoyed with the Guild leader. Remembering that the Courts often cared more about serving the Courts rather than the community, Heilyn switch her mind set.
"Well, if our friend here is dissatisfied with my answer, let's find another option? We could demand that the servant staff all piss in a bottle and give it to you. We could continue to do this and provide as much as you need to fulfill your long-term requirements, but in return, we would require a favor from you." Hell, if this specific dye was was such that he would go to such lengths, it must be nice. Might be nice to have piss-dye tapestries hanging throughout the halls.
Yummy.
The thought honestly did not appeal to the Bog Dweller's mentality, but she could get the details of the process later. Even if they didn't want that color, they could still get something else out of it...
But enough thinking about it. The man was being dismissed from both the room and Heilyn's list of problems. She gave him a curt nod of acknowledgment as he gave a somewhat insolent thanks for their services. What the hell was he expecting? He comes to the most arrogant Court in the lands and was just expecting there to be a solution? Help, yes, and an attempt, but the Courts had bigger worries than some guild's color issues. Tinman hummed and chirped, watching the short man leave with interest.
She turned her attention directly to Shinrai, slanted yellow eyes meeting his. How long had she been working for the Courts? It took her a second, Rhi and Hadrian are about 7 years old now...
"Roughly 8 years, Your Majesty." ...Had it really been that long?

Rai was silent through Heilyn's final 'suggestion' for the Guildleader, though he wasn't entirely pleased about it. She worked with Bernard, he did know that. At least he had seen her retreating from smoking rooms with the King a few times and he had always assumed that meant she either had a hand in setting things on fire or in pulling Bernard back out of them. Either occupation seemed a fairly good use of time.
"Eight years is quite a long time to simply hang around as Jack if you were planning to make a bid for further power," the stallion remarked blandly. "Wot brought about this sudden change of heart regarding your standing?" The pun was unintentional, but even if he had thought about it he would have left it; such things often annoyed the currently absent Mnem, but he felt it was good to remain in practice.

"I can't say it was a sudden change in heart," she remarked, letting the pun slide over her, "I had been considering it for a while now, but hadn't had the time or energy to act on it until recently. While the children are still hellions, they're more manageable than they use to be.
I'm going to be perfectly honest, You Majesty, I am not planning on staying your King. I know Xiven is looking toward a title very soon here, as I spoke with her previously about being her King" the girl was very quickly approaching adulthood and Heilyn had kept good tabs on her, knowing what her intent was. "If I were to wait until she received her title, then it would be an inexperienced King assisting an inexperienced Queen. I'm positive her education is superb, however, experience is experience and it counts for more. I feel this 'blind leading the blind' situation would create a weak link in the court.
If I am a King for some time before, then transfer over, this can be prevented and make Xiven's promotion into rank much smoother, thus providing a service to the court as a whole. I know you probably don't want to hear that I am asking you for the favor when my intent is not to serve you for the long term, but I am looking out for the welfare of the court as a whole." That was the main reason, anyway. She waited for Shinrai's response. If he wanted further reasons, she could provide and prove her worth.

Rai listened carefully to her response, his face a mask of interest and little else. The move was, perhaps, rather presumptuous of the woman. Xiven had spoken with the Queen once about gaining a title and the discussion could have gone better.
Still, the man was encouraged by the knowledge that Heilyn had been in discussion with the girl about gaining a title; given some time and experience, the Queen of Hearts still thought she could indeed shoulder the responsibilities of a titled Queen.
He leaned back suddenly in his chair, steepling his fingers and regarding her over the top of them. "That is some very interesting logic," the man said quietly. "What will you do if Xiven chooses to not pursue this career? Or if she's not accepted?"
Not that he expected either of these options. But it would be interesting to find out what the woman's back-up plan might be.

"Then I will remain your King. The plans Xiven and I have just happen to coincide with the intentions I already have. Had I not wanted to be a King in the first place, I would not have even brought the subject back up to her," she answered simply. The Tove perched himself on the woman's shoulder and remained quiet, listening to his Master talk, then watched the green-haired man with interest. The way he spoke reminded him of Master. He liked that.
"My political interests are that of the stability of the court, healthy trade to my homeland, and friendlier political relations between the Raemblen Bog and the Outside. With the rank for King, I could further my influence in both areas," she disliked trusting other people to do what she wanted. If you wanted something done, you had to do it yourself. "Because of the isolation of the Bog, the residents and -- for the most part -- the government of the region have very little concept of the conversion rate and how exactly to deal with Outsiders," if anything, Bog economy was little more than a barter system, but Shinrai didn't need to be bored with irrelevant details. Not to mention the fact that, left to their own devices, the average Bog Dweller would do nothing but insult an Outsider (intentionally or not)... it's bad for business to say the least, "I am constantly mediating between the two, and with a higher rank, that part of my job would be easier and I could devote more of my time and energy to the Heart's Court and the Court back home's relationship with the Outside in general."

Rai accepted this information with the same cool interest as he'd shown throughout most of the interview. He could relate, of course, with her desire to better her region in the eyes of others, but her interaction here with the Guildleader was something he wasn't certain he agreed with nor was he entirely certain that he was willing to have to work with her in an intimate relationship on a long term basis. It bore further thought.
"Your initial plan is acceptable," he finally stated firmly. "You will be accepted as a title King under me with the understanding that should Xiven come to power you will be taken under her leadership. However, if Xiven makes her bid and does not make it, or if she chooses to not attempt a title, you will come up again for the King slot." He paused and smiled at the woman. "I commend your reasoning, Heilyn, as well as your devotion to your family. I look forward to seeing wot you can accomplish as a titled King of the Court of Hearts."
(( Sorry, chica. xD;;; This took me forever. . . ><;; It wasn't until i talked to Trebias that i was able to really solidify my thoughts, though. xD; Congrays, Lyn!! ))

[Don't even worry about it. Better to take a little longer than to rush it like an idiot like I did in the middle. >>
I'm just going to call this finished. I don't think I have a closing post in me, so let's just lock and archive this sucker. ]

[Bah, I can't get a closing post out. We'll just say she thanked him for his time and decision and left as politely as she could muster (Gawd knows being polite is a chore for her >> ) and was a good little King-y in the meantime until Xiven got a title.]
