Because of the increasing number of Cards raising their ranks to Jack and above (we love it, don't stop!), Nat and I have decided that Quests for the rank only need to be run if that Card is looking to actually join the Courts with complete certainty as a result of the raise. If they just want the rank to go off and do their own thing elsewhere, or if they aren't sure whether or not the Courts are for them, they do not need to take part in a Quest. You can always have them join later and you won't need the RP for it if they're a Jack. Just PM the rank raise request to Nathalia like normal and you will receive the rank.
If you currently have a Quest going, it will continue as planned.

Can we opt to request a Quest anyway, even if the Card isn't decided if s/he wants to join the Court?

Em... maybe. It depends on the Court, who controls that particular trainer, and whether or not they have the time for a 'non-essential' RP that doesn't involve an actual PC character. ^^ For my part, it's iffy. For Nat's part, I'd imagine it's also iffy, but I can't speak for her.

No worries. Souris isn't going to try for Jack until a lot later, and I don't have any other Cards. And a lot can happen in between. I'll keep this in mind, and ask again when she's ready.

*giggle* Sorry, stupid meds must be making me more drowsy than I thought. I could have sworn I PM'd that to you.
What I mean is, say, a Card wants a particular title, and has the right rank for that. Then later, the Card decides to raise his/her rank further, but doesn't want a higher-ranking title. Would the Card still need to tackle the appropriate quest, as s/he is already in the Courts, or not, as s/he wouldn't be looking to join the courts as a completely certainty as a result, since s/he is already in the courts to begin with?

Ah. Well, if a character is say a titled Jack and they raised their rank to King, they would not be able to stay a titled Jack because they were no longer actually a Jack. They would have to apply to one of the Queens for Kingship under them. You can't keep a title if you've ranked past it.

Question.....
Please forgive me since I'm still new. Say a Card ranks, but doesn't title, all the way to King. THEN they want to join the Court. Is there only one Quest RP to get into the courts or would you have to do one for Jack that you skipped and the king?

Only one for King, because you weren't titled when you were a Jack, you were just... a Jack. You can't retroactively get a Jack title like that. It's not a prerequisite for being a titled King. For example, some characters are /born/ Kings and never go through Jackhood at all.
