Mephit didn't dwell on it much when she caught wisps of Peaches' thoughts. They were all pretty correct: Why did she try and talk to her about emotional things when it should have been known, at least by someone such as Peaches, that she had little interest in them.
Beyond that, however, was the certain fact that Mephit simply didn't know how to offer comfort even when she tried. She had given it a shot again and, honestly, Peaches didn't look any more comforted than before Mephit had spoken. Well, so much for that.
"I hope it won't either." It was perhaps the most 'comforting' statement she'd managed to utter. The court was a good home to her, and the people she actually cared about were here. As weak as caring was, it managed to happen regardless of her desires.
Then Peaches was brushing past her, in pursuit of action rather than her own despair. Mephit could appreciate that more. "Agreed." The serpentine doe shook her head and pursued Peaches up the stairs. Se had had 'keepers' during his time in the Court that had generally kept him from causing too much trouble among the servants and what have you, Mephit could only hope that they remained nearby to reign him in.
An explanation would be nice.
