Malchiah grumbled a little. Where had his happy self gone, no where! Actually. Still there just. . . he had to go home. He missed his brothers, he was sick of the rain, and quite frankly, he missed daddy. >.> Ever since he hit the age where he could wander he had but lately he'd just gotten this unignorable want to go home. So, that was where his feet were heading. He nearly began to skip as he turned the corner onto the block where their city house was. Malc had heard others whistling and tried to do so as he moved jauntily towards the front door, unfortunately beaks just weren't so well equipped so he turned to his natural born whistling instead. Naw, too bird sounding. He looked around to make sure no one was watching before tapping the door with his beak. A small chuckle escaped as he goofed around and crossed his eyes, pretending to be dizzy from a 'hit to the head'.

Theofilus didn't expect a knock on the door during this rainy day. He raised his brow before putting his book down on the table and wandering to the door. Who on earth would be out during this rainstorm? He looked out the tiny peephole and blinked. Was that? He shook his head and unlocked the door. He stared in disbelief at his son. "Malchiah! Where have you been? Do you have any idea how worried we've been?" The sparrow ushered his son into the house without a second thought, shutting and locking the door behind him. "I have half a mind to scold you for being so silly," Theofilus said sternly. He knew when his son was acting and when he was actually hurt. He wasn't and idiot despite what his children thought sometimes. "But I'll get you some towels to dry off. I don't think your mother would be happy with me if I let you make a puddle on the floor."Theofilus went into the bathroom and grabbed some towels. Malch had always worried him. Him coming home was the best thing that could happen. The sparrow gave a happy sigh before walking out to hand his son the towels. He waited for a proper explanation and a possible hug.

Malchiah laughed as he was ushered in and promptly 'almost'-scolded. It was good to be home, truly. Wandering was fun but it lost some of it's lustre when you lived off half-ripe berries for a few days in the pouring rain. He shook into the towels, patting himself dry as he fluffed up to look like a rather happy, blue, puffball.
"I, uh. . . came home?" Oh helpful, he thought with a smirk, that wouldn't fix dad's worry at all.
"I was fine really, just got bored and wanted to come home." Malchiah coughed a little before dropping the towels on a small bench beside the door.
He stood in an awkward silence for a while, unsure of what to say. A small blush crept under his feathers. "Could I maybe. . steal some of your food? I haven't really. ." before he could say anything more his stomach made a rather loud, rude and obnoxious sound.
Heh. . "Missed you?"

Theofilus gave a worried sigh. "Of course Malchiah, I'll make you something. Join me in the kitchen then?" The sparrow turned away from his son and walked into the kitchen. The towels could wait for later, everyone else was out.
The sparrow opened a few of the pantry doors, taking out the proper supplies to make a sandwich. He tapped the butter knife on the wooden chopping block before looking turning around to look at his son. "You do know that you can come home whenever you want, right? We miss you, and I worry about you. You could at least stop by more often." Theofilus gave his son another worried look before going back to making the sandwich.
He really didn't like that Malch wandered around. He didn't want his son to get hurt, and he certainly wasn't living off of the small amount of money Theofilus gave him every so often when he showed up. It was a decent amount of money, but not enough to make a living on.
The sparrow finished making the sandwich he placed it on the table in front of a bar stool. "Take a seat," Theofilus said as he sat on the one next to it. "You have quite a bit of explaining to do."

There was another knock on the door at that moment, interrupting Theo's serious words to his son. Outside, a trio of sparrows waited, all crammed under one small umbrella. Two of them were very similar in appearance, both from Kahmden and with fluffy tails. The third was a Lakelander, and was looking to be the most impatient of the trio. " Mooom! What's taking so long?" the Lakeland sparrow cried, looking up at the biped with narrowed eyes. " This umbrella is so small! I'm getting all wet, mom!" The biped looked down, frowning slightly as she did. " I'm sure he's here, Ceren... Just taking a little longer than usual to open the door.[/b]" The smaller Forester moved closer to her mother, giving Ceren a look. She disliked being in the rain as much as her sister, but she knew how to keep quiet and wait patiently. Their father would open the door as soon as he was able to.

Well, that almost worked. The sparrow sighed as he hurried over to the door. Oh dear, he'd completely forgotten about Calia and the girls! They were supposed to visit today. He hastily picked up the towel, draping it over his arm and undoing the proper locks. With a hurried smile he ushered the girls and their mother in.
"Didn't mean to let you wait for so long, sorry about that. Malchiah came over, and the other boys are out with friends. They should be home soon." Theofilus sighed happily as he shut the door. God, he missed seeing Calia so much. Why did they have to stay apart for so long?
"Is there anything I can get you ladies so you don't look so miserable from the rain," He smiled as he took Calia's umbrella and placed it on the proper rack, hanging the towel besides it. Family was a wonderful thing.

Malchiah raised an eyebrow as the door was knocked loudly. Then again it was raining, he didn't blame most for not liking it even though he loved just getting drenched. However he let out a startled chirp when he heard it was his mom, he hadn't seen her in quite some time and found he was actually excited.
His sisters on the other hand . . x.x Why did he love his brothers so much and yet seem to disdain his sisters? Or rather. . Ceren. She was always so stuck up. At least that was how it seemed to him. Never wanting to get wet, never wanting to eat unless it was exactly what she wanted. Thank goodness she spent most of her time with their mother
He rose from his seat and followed Theo to the door. "Hey mom!" He greeted, settling a rather tight hug around her shoulders.
"Ceren. . " he said somewhat blandly
"Mori." He said with a bit more fondness, ruffling the part kahmden girl on the head with his wing.

The look on Calia's surprise said everything. It had been such a long time to see Malchiah that she was extremely excited, but there was a glint of displeasure in her eye. Where was he always vanishing off to? She worried about him!
All of that displeasure vanished, however, as she laid eyes on her son. Face splitting into a wide smile, she hugged him tightly. "Malc! I haven't seen you in a while, hon.[/b]" she exclaimed, pulling back to look him over. "You're so skinny! Well, I guess while you're here I'll have to try and fix that.[/b]" she chuckled slightly. He was growing to be so handsome, but so skinny! She had to be a mother sometimes, right?
Ceren's nostrils flared slightly at the half-assed greeting, and she looked away. She had never liked her brother as a person, and only the bonds of family allowed her to tolorate him. In her mind, he was everything that was wrong with men. "Malc," she replied, tone equally bland. There were so many things that she wanted to say in reply, but instead, she ran to Theofilus. "Dad! Dad, can I have some tea? It's so cold outside!"
Mori giggled slightly, moving happily into the touch. "Malc! Malc, I haven't seen you in so long!" she chirped excitedly, jumping at him and grabbing him in a tight hug. "Me and mom missed you so much!!"

Theofilus watched Malc and Ceren's reaction to each other with a brief moment of disapproval. He knew full well that they would never get along, there would always be something that rubbed them the wrong way about each other. At least Mori was still cheerful.
"All right Ceren, I'll make you some tea, but please remember your manners next time," he said as he smiled down at the girl. Humming quietly he quickly made his way to the kitchen and grabbed the teapot, thankfully he had been planning to make tea anyway so everything was set up. He double checked the infuser to see if he had something that Ceren liked in it.
After setting the teapot on the stove he returned to the room where the family was gather. He briefly wondered if Zane and Ez would be home in time... then they would just be the picture perfect family wouldn't they?
"The tea should be enough to serve ten people, so if anyone else wants a cup, we'll have plenty to go around."

He laughed and smiled as his mother gave him a huge hug. Last time he had seen mother, she hadn't had her bipedal, so he was proud of her. "Thanks mom, and I'm plenty. . not. . . skinny." He raised an eyebrow at his own comment. Way to use words Malc, way to use words.
"I wouldn't mind you trying though." Malc grinned, he did rather like food. It almost made him want to come home more often, almost.
Little brat, he looked at Ceren. She was so full of herself and uppity. Thought herself better than the rest because of her born rank. If anyone in the family didn't deserve the benefits it brought, it was most definately her. Funny, he would laugh if he could hear her thoughts, as she was everything that was wrong with women to him.
He chirped as Mori grabbed him for a hug and smiled warmly. Wrapping her up in his wings. "Missed you too squirt." He nibbled a feather on her cheek fondly. If anyone deserved the benefits of a higher rank, it was. . . well, Ez. But Mori too. He looked up at his father with a happy expression.
"I'll have tea Dad." . . . It was good to be home.
