The Torquehelmian gave a small half-bow and a very hesitant smile. "I am Haret," her voice was still low and quiet. A wait was only to be expected at such a nice restaurant as this, and fifteen minutes was astonishingly good. "It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Calia." And it really was.
Haret didn't often make friends, but she sensed a sort of kinship with the sparrow and she was pleased to have it. So many times she felt like nothing more than an outcast; left alone and ostracized based on her realm, her bindings, or simply her personality. Through it all only Aroha had managed to truly break through the shyness and terrible self-image the canine held of herself and, for now, the lovely fox was far away.
Haret was terribly lonely, again, and it was harder now that she'd had a taste of true companionship and love.

"Haret," the sparrow echoed, extending a hand to the woman and taking great care to keep her feathers off of the table and out of the glasses. She could feel the woman's sorrow, and it sent a pang through her - the motherly sparrow could never ignore someone else's troubles, even if they were a person she had just met. "It is a pleasure to meet you.[/b]" the corners of her beak curved into a pleasant smile.
She would take this chance to try and brighten the other woman's day the best she possibly could. It seemed like the lovely canine was reaching out to her, in a way.
Calia took a small sip of water, closing her eyes for the briefest of moments before relaxing in her chair. She was, in all honesty, quite happy for the chance to get off her feet, even if only for a few minutes - she wasn't as young as she used to be, and she was tired! "What brings you to the capital today, if you don't mind my asking?[/b]"

Haret took the proffered hand with a gentle, though still shy, smile. It was a surprise when Calia offered her even that small, physical touch. She hadn't realized she was touch-starved, but, there it was. Her heart clenched with missing of her lover back in the Ville.
Haret's eyes slipped back to her glass at the next question almost as though she were embarrassed or hurt by the topic, but it was really just that the canine was that shy. "I'm trying to find work," she admitted very softly, wondering if she should admit to the Spade that she owed the woman's Queen a very large honour debt. It seemed too much to say just now; too personal for a woman she only just met, whether or not she felt a connection to the other woman. So she was quiet rather than continue to talk.

The sparrow blinked at the woman's statement, and she tilted her head thoughtfully, running one finger lightly across her beak. "Is that so? Hmm.. very interesting.[/b]"
The pair chatted for a while longer before Calia made up her mind. Haret was a lovely woman, if a bit shy, but it seemed that she was the sort that would thrive in an environment like the one provided by the cafe. She needed work, and Calia needed to move on with her life to find something better, something that would put her closer to her family. It seemed like an ideal situation, and by the end of the night, the bird had offered the dog her position at the cafe.
When the sparrow left, it was with a happy smile and a shine in her eyes. Today couldn't have gone better if she'd scripted the day out herself.
