Oh! Despite himself, a light giggle escaped his beak. Generally he was quite quick to talk of his prowess, but rarely did someone humor him. Generally they were too distracted by what they could see of his grotesque body to really think much of his work. 'Arteest'.... 'Magnifique', how charming and flattering! "Oh, oh goodness yes, I very much hope this comes true." His voice noticeably fluttered from her kind words.
She was asking more about the silk. What did she want him to explain, exactly? "Well..." He started off slowly, examining the fabric in the thinning light so as to better explain it. "It is silk, of course. It's a rather distinct fabric type for sure. It is.. lavender. A good color for you.. I suppose you'd have to take my word for it.." The small laugh that followed was quiet and awkward, quickly ceasing when he realized it may offend. Hastily, he continued. "But there is.. something about this fabric that I really like, you see. Even though it has color.. clothing isn't all about the color. This fabric is thin, and somewhat sheer. This means you a person can see what is behind it. It doesn't make it a good choice for full body clothing where concealment is the point, but used in certain areas such as sleeves, or the bottom halves of skirts, and especially shawls and scarves it is a very lovely thing because when you wear it.. it's not just about the clothing any more. It's never only about the clothing. Clothing is just a pile of cloth until someone wears it. But anyways, what makes this special is that the color intermingles with the shade of your own skin, bringing out a very special beauty both within yourself, and the fabric. It makes it all the more yours. No other person could wear this color just like you could." As he spoke, He carefully reached out and put a wintip on her arm, using the other to gently stretch the fabric out across the bare flesh. "Here... feel. You'll be able to appreciate how your own skin feels in conjunction with the fabric. That's how it -looks- on you."

His little giggle made her smile broaden a bit, she truly enjoyed making others happy. It was something that was a little difficult in her hometown... and a lot of people tried to fake it. Why they'd want to try and fake being happy, she'd never understand... but that wasn't at all what this particular stranger was doing. She brought her free hand up to her lips and shielded them as a light laugh escaped her, she couldn't help it... that little flutter to his voice... it was just too much.
She'd really been asking about colors and patterns, but she hadn't wanted to offend him and had tried to think of a... nicer way to ask... and he seemed to get it... eventually. Lavender? Oh, that was a perfectly lovely color and it would... flatter her in this form as well? She knew it would in her lower forms, she had far more purple then she could remember ever seeing on another Torquehelm... but in this one as well?
His words were not offensive to her, nor was the laugh .... she simply stayed silent and listened, a smile on her face the whole time.
It certainly feels divine, if nothing else. I have a dress zat zis would would be perfect for ... I would love to purchase it from you my dear Karrock.
If she had to go to that party ... she'd want to look absolutely smashing. The dress she had, black, full length and still revealing, would have been enough t do it.... but she could just see it in her mind with the scarf and... well... it was too good to pass up. Her Belize was wonderful at keeping up on all the latest trends ... .but she wanted the outfit to have a little something to it that was, well... hers. She hated feeling like a dress up doll ...

Oh, lovely! With a definite twitter still lingering in his voice, he recited his reasonable price to her, settling the rejected choices back on his bench and neatly folding them back in place. He'd made enough of a profit today to buy more material, and that certainly was a winning situation in his book. Perhaps he should look into feathers... They were something he was sorely lacking but had always admired. That, and fur. Was it truly cruel to wear Ace fur? Viola didn't really approve of it.
"I am most certain that it will compliment you greatly, M'am. I find it an honor that you will be wearing my creation." He was trying to be gallant and poised, but his youth kept him from being truly in control. The poise of the creature before him was stunning. Perhaps it was the bindings, but it had an amazing effect. What animal was she? His first guess would be horse. The shape of her headplate and the tail attached to her back made it look that way. For all he knew though, that might be the very ruse she was trying to pull off.

Her outfit didn't exactly leave many spots to hide any money on her form, but that was part of it's beauty ... she was far less likely to get mugged if it looked like she couldn't possibly be carrying anything of value. but she did have some, not a whole lot and all in one type of increment to make counting it easy on her... but she did have it. She reached up into her sleeve, fingers gliding up her arm until she found the little bag that was secured there and thumbed through it, plucking out an amount that was only slightly more then what he'd asked for and offered it to him.
You may keep ze change Karrock.
She flashed him another pretty little smile before biting her lip, she just... couldn't resist the lure to see what this talented young man 'looked' like. She lifted a hand up to toy with her golden bracelets for a moment before peering at him curiously, although that fact might be lost to him with her 'hood'.
I have ... a question for you zat might ... sound a little... off.
She paused for a moment and forced herself to cease the silly fidgeting, her upbringing didn't leave much room for that. Despite her region she had been expected to act in a proper manner no matter what.
Would you mind letting me... see you?
She figured she might have to explain a bit but ... she'd used the same sort of phrase in regards to the scarves so...

A strange request indeed! It hadn't surprised him since he'd seen and heard of blind people in his life, but never had one wanted to touch his face like he'd heard they would do. Then again he really didn't meet many people at all, much less blind people who got to know him well enough to want to make physical contact.
There was a pregnant hesitation as he considered the option, taking note of the growing tension in the air between them as she waited for his decision. Despite his fears, he was unable to say no. With a calming intake of breath, he carefully unraveled the scarf that covered his head and much of his upper body, feeling exposed, and even frightened in the cooling dusk air.
"V-very well. I warn you. I am not pretty." That admission came out in a quick, high voice. Was he really going to let this strange woman touch him? What if she pulled away at his featherless, slightly wrinkled skin and his bony, gangly frame? His fangs were retracted as they normally were, but it made him feel no less ashamed of his monstrous appearance.

She waited for his response, not at all surprised by the awkward silence that followed her request. She stayed quiet as she did, there really ... wasn't much else to say until he responded one way or another unless she excused herself and simply left. She didn't really want to leave, having only just arrived.... and, well... she didn't exactly know how to get back.
The equine stared to chew on her lip a bit as the silence lingered a wee bit too long for her liking. and, what was that? It sounded a bit like the rustling of fabric .... was he leaving? She didn't hear steps, then again.... she wasn't sure if he was a diamond or not. That flight ability of theirs made them move so quietly...
When he spoke she couldn't help but grin a bit, so the young man was self conscious? She lifted up her purchase and placed it around her neck to free her hands as she leaned toward his voice. She reached out slowly with one hand until she felt her fingertips brush against something warm. She then brought her other hands up to touch the other side before letting her fingertips glide gently over his... skin? Hum, that was a little odd... his face wasn't quite the right shape to be a human. She kept her expression neutral as she continued to map his face, coming across his beak before moving upward and finding his comb. What an odd little fellow! What exactly was he?
Are you ... an avian, Karrock?
Her voice held no disgust, just simple curiosity. She'd never come across anyone quite like him before.

Despite himself, he flinched just a little at her touch. It was a quick movement before he submitted to the attention. After all, some of the only contact he'd had with people had been his aunt, and his brother.
Karrock was sure that she was going to be disgusting, staring intently at her partly covered, neutral expression to find any hint of negativity. He could find none. Her question hurt him even though he couldn't blame her; most people could hardly tell by sight, much less by touch what he was. Still, he was somehow hoping that he wouldn't be so malformed as to confuse her. "Partly." He whispered softly, finding no need to speak loudly with her so close to his face. "I am also part snake. It causes... a considerable lack of plumage." He hazarded a giggle at that; sadly he looked very much like a bald chicken; he hadn't inherited the most graceful of snake qualities. His grandfather, he had heard, was a supreme beast, as beautiful as Karrock was ugly.

Soft fingertips explored the texture of his skin a bit more, mapping a few more of his features as they did. At his response to her query she gave him a soft little smile and moved her fingertips over his cheek and toward his chin to lift his head up a bit.... almost as if trying to get him to look at her eyes .... if they'd been visible or usable that is. Her voice held the smallest hint of excitement... serpents weren't exactly something you came across everyday.
Snake? I've never met a serpent before... nor a partial one! It makes perfect sense now.
She released him as her smile brightened a bit. She'd made up her mind about this one ... he seemed rather trustworthy and interesting in her opinion and perhaps he'd like to give her a little tour of the garden they were in? Scent alone wasn't enough to paint a picture after all.
Karrock ... would you mind keeping me company for a bit?
She couldn't hide the hopeful little undertone in her voice ... her social interactions were about as limited as his; her servants and her Ace. Most of her servants were hardly more then an occasional voice to her though, all she really had was Ginger really.

Perfect sense. Perfectly normal. To consider anything about himself 'normal' was invigorating indeed. He almost sounded too eager as he shut his portable stand up and slung it over his shoulder. "Well, I certainly don't want to disappoint you. I'm sure business can wait for another day. A little dose of friendship is a far more valuable commodity" He said with a sweet, rattling churr that only a snake/bird hybrid could make.
"Well then, where would you like to go? Have you done the full circle about the garden yet? The herb garden in the far back is absolutely to die for. I can never pass by there without getting a nibble of mint. Then again, the stuff grows like wildfire so I hardly see the harm in it." He chattered on, swirling his cloth back around his head out of habit more than anything.

Her smile brightened even more as he accepted her request for company. Oh, this would be fun ... she knew it! She also agreed whole heartedly about the his statement of friendship, it was just too rare of a luxury these days. He was such a bright young man, at least .... he sounded like a young man. He could be older but ... she'd never really know and she was alright with that.
Oh ... I don't think I've ever been over to the herb garden! Can we go? I love how strong, but different, their scents are. There's mint too? Do you think they'd mind if I brought a few sprigs back with me? It makes quite a lovely accompaniment to lemon and ginger in water or tea.
She couldn't help but get a little excited as she walked with her new friend, today was turning out to be so much better then she'd imagined it could be.
