Dre smiled prettily at the comment about being seen only from a distance; she had been rather busy since she'd entered the Court. Getting to know her father and grandfather, then the sudden, whirlwind romance with Ignatius, and then getting married, and, the death and replacement of the Queen of Hearts. Yes, it really wasn't surprising that she'd not yet had a chance to really meet Xiven, much less have a chance to have a nice chat. She put out her hand gracefully to press her fingers to Xiven's, less of a handshake than an acknowledgment.
Thus far, Drostan was rather impressed with the other Queen, though he recognized the glance she'd sent him when he'd been introduced. It didn't bother him as much from this Queen than from some of the others he'd met, at least. Still, he did nothing but continue to sit still and be well-behaved.
Dre's smile remained steadfast, even in the face of the bluntness from the other Queen. Like her father, such sudden subject changes did not phase her; but, then, she'd already had such training with the man. "We are both well aware of the changes that have stormed through the Court," the woman said, seeming a bit less feather-headed than she normally did as she handed Xiven a cup of tea and quickly poured out her own and prepared it to her tastes. "The Queen of Hearts has already left. . . something of a mark on the Court, if only because his. . . appearance." She paused, looking thoughtful for a moment. Drostan's reaction to the Queen made certain that she was well aware of Se's effect on the lower ranked.

This woman had an amazing talent for understatements. Xiven would have chuckled if she were in a better mood, instead she took a sip of tea to hide the smirk of mild displeased amusement that was forming on her face. This entire situation shouldn't have been happening. If she hadn't lost her Kings, if she hadn't had children to take care of she would have made a move. Of course if didn't solve any of the problems going on.
"I think everyone knows by now that the current Queen is completely insane and there's no point in pretending that anyone in this palace is happy about the current situation." Xiven said as she ran her finger along the edge of the tea cup. "But I imagine you want to do something about that?"
The entire situation drove Xiven up the wall, and festering on the impossible didn't help. Stuffing down her discontent she kept her face as blank as she possibly could, waiting for a response.

Dre's ears pricked towards the woman thoughtfully, and she missed the small sound of sardonic agreement Drostan made as he laid down on the ground. The Ace likely would agree with any plan that Xiven suggested in regards to the current Queen of Hearts, but he already feared and hated the man.
"So far, my father, Ignatius, and I have him rather well in hand," the King explained-- or reiterated, if Xiven was aware of the checks they had on the Queen, though they hadn't told anyone other than Bernard yet. Of course, that was part of this meeting. "Uncle Se is a bit off, but now that Grandfather. . . is gone-- her words hesitated, ears drooping a bit in one of the few moments that she actually remembered that her grandfather was gone from her. She had loved him, and that's what caused the current situation to be all the more difficult. Still, she bore it up and pushed on anyway. "He's a bit more stable than previously." Her smile was rather ironic. "A bit."

Xiven found herself leaning forward with her chin on the palm of her hand. Oh yes, having The Queen of Hearts under a close watch was a great thing to do. Xiven could feel the discontent bubbling up again. How couldn't people think their entire suit was some sort of joke with the current situation? How could anyone take the Hearts seriously?
Her expression didn't change when Dre mentioned the previous Queen. Shinrai was unfortunately dead by his own son's hand. She felt sorry for her only briefly, lingering on the thoughts of the dead and gone was never productive.
A bit? She had to refrain from snorting at the thought of him being worse than this.
"Keeping him in check is all well and good, but I can't imagine it's going to work for very long. Since you're his family I imagine you wouldn't want to see his early demise, considering everything that's been done...," Xiven shifted to pick up her teacup. "Normal" family watched out for each other, so she could only assume. "And I'm sure there are plenty of blood thirsty Hearts willing to take advantage of this situation."
She took a long drink of her tea before continuing.
"So is this tea party all for show, or are you planning to correct the current situation the Court is in, if you don't mind me being too blunt."

Dre tilted her head at the woman, making sure to gather her thoughts as she took another sip of her tea. She respected the other woman's innate strength-- Xiven was a Queen, after all-- and, well, she wouldn't mind having a female friend at the Court. It was a shame that everyone hated Uncle Se, but, really, Dre couldn't blame them. If her own 'love' for the man was heavily leavened with fear and unease. But family was family. "You are correct that we'd prefer to keep Uncle Se from being just killed; if anything, we would like to get him stable and perhaps persuaded to go on. . . an extended vacation." The Highlander couldn't help a small smile at her own word choice. The extended vacation would, hopefully, keep the Yarrow from even contemplating a return to the Court. She sighed, however, the smile quickly slipping away.
Drostan had heard all of this before, and simply remained still, watching the grass shift near his front paws.

She was skeptical. Really. Stable? That didn't seem like it was ever going to happen. Why was the man in the court at all? They could just knock him out and throw him in an insane asylum where he belonged. She bit her lower lip as she stared at the woman. There had to be more to this plan.
"Is that it?" Xiven asked as she ran her finger tip along the edge of the tea cup. "I don't see why you've bothered to call me here if that was all you were planning to do. I don't see a point of staying here much longer when there's work to be done...." Xiven said flatly before looking to the woman with a bored expression.
"I imagine you're really here to win me over so I don't do anything rash. Or at the very least you're looking for an ally. Then again this is all idle speculation. Delusions of grandeur from being titled and all. I just hope I'm not just here for tea."

Dre lofted a brow at the woman's response and found herself re-apprising the Queen. Her ears remained cupped forward, however, and she let her expression slip back into one of polite interest. "Of course I'm hoping to be allies with you." Though she had also hoped for more than just an alliance; perhaps it was too much to desire friendship with this particular cat, though. Xiven seemed to be making it clear that she didn't have any such like-interest in Dre. It was. . . a shame, really.
"I actually thought that the Royalty left in the Court would not only be willing but would desire to band together now. I had also assumed, perhaps presumptively, that the other Face Cards would pursue the same with not only myself, but also Ignatius and His Highness Ira simply because of the control we at least symbolize over His Majesty Se." The words might have been a bit cool, but there was no hostility in either her tone or expression.
Drostan was relieved to hear Dre's response; at least partially because he had assumed the same thing. Of course, there were sayings about assumptions. . .

(( OOC: I am not trying to be difficult, I'm just staying true to character. Xiven isn't the time to bend to someone's will without convincing. >_>; She's stubborn like that. ))
"I'm offended that you take me and the other nobles so lightly, Miss Dre," Xiven said flatly. She flipped her empty teacup over onto the saucer. "What makes you think we wouldn't band against you? What gives me a good reason to be an ally if you give me no good reasons besides your family relations? Most of all what makes you think that a Heart would shy away from a slight disadvantage of facing a madman?"
The anger was bubbling inside of her as she looked at the woman, her voice was simply monotone. She was tired of all the games. She was tired of being underestimated. Just because she wasn't the Queen didn't make her powerless. Just because she wasn't a Highlander didn't make her helpless. If she had been in any other form her hair would be standing on end.
"Assumptions aside Miss Dre, I am tired of, no pun intended, pussy footing around. I have a mountain of paper work, four children who lost their father, two more children who lost their mother and father, and No sane person can walk into the courts without fearing for their life." She leaned forward, her one eyebrow arched. "Why am I here, Miss Dre? Are you simply here to mock me?"

"The purpose of this meeting," the hybrid responded and this time her tone was cool. "Is to formally meet you, to extend some sort of alliance so that this Court can continue to run in at least some form of a normal manner." Her irritation, however, might not have been at the source the Queen might assume and her next words likely gave at least some light on that. "I would hardly bring someone here to mock much less you."
This meeting, she felt, wasn't going well, and while it didn't exactly occur to her that it might fail full out, she was trying to resign herself to the fact that Xiven might not like her, and thus they couldn't be friends.
Drostan wished he could safely pipe up and try to smooth things over, but he already knew that people didn't appreciate Ace's sticking their noses in places they didn't belong. He gave a small sigh to himself and tried to think of a way to at least give Ignatius a clue of how it went-- assuming Dre didn't tell him outright-- so he could comfort the woman.

Xiven narrowed her eyes as she looked at the other woman. Finally knowing her objective made things easier. It was hard for the feline not to snort at the comment about mocking people. It was hard to believe that any Highlander would be modest.
"Well, no that I know your intentions I have no problem having a nice chat with you. As much as I enjoy politics and guessing being under the stress of dealing with.... everything it's difficult to have fun when I have to worry about people's true intentions." She shrugged as she tapped the bottom of the teacup. "Sorry to be so terribly catty. It's unfortunately in my nature."
Another pun, unfortunately, that stood true. Considering her track record with her siblings, she wasn't the most level headed woman to walk around in the court of Hearts. So much for not reinforcing the stereotypes of the suits.
