Tegan's hackles raised. The mixture of anger, denial, and fear was building up to her usual habit of lashing out at others. However, this time she couldn't. Before it got her a kick to the face or ribs. Those healed quickly, especially since Heilyn never aimed to hurt her, only to humiliate. Her ego over came the humiliation quickly, too. Now she was being thrown out on terms that weren't hers. she hated it, being completely subjected to the will of others. She could do nothing, and she knew it. If she tried, then she would leave here with nothing. Still, she stayed there, frozen to her spot on the bed, staring. Part of her was waiting for the way out. Waiting for that opportunity that was either handed to her or that she could figure out on her own that would get her out of this. That's how it usually happened. Surely something will come along this time, too...

Alaster waited for a reply. His hearing wasn't great, but he could hear a conversation happening. So she wasn't alone. Part of him sank, the other part knew it was probably for the best. He waited to be acknowledged, curling and relaxing his long toes against the soft carpet in the hall.
She finally acknowledged him. He breathed in. Okay, you can do this, he told himself and walked in. He looked around and room, subtly taking in the smell of the room. He turned his head when he saw movement out of the corner of his eye. He blinked as he saw the door behind her. What in then hell happened?
He walked forward to meet her then gave a bow of his head.
"What is it you require of me, Your Highness?"

He really was a magnificent example of what the Highlands had to offer as far as looks. To her, she reminded him a lot of the late Serafino, save for a few details. She was told he was Egret and Basilisk. Only after that did she start noticing subtle differences in breed. It was still odd to see a Bird-Reptile mix running around the court and not think of His Former Majesty.
"Yes. Alaster, was it?" she'd only bothered to remember his name for this job. He was a 10 (much to Spekkio's chagrin), which made him a very good candidate to help her deal with the King in the other room. Also, if she was going to use him as a meat shield, she might as well give him the courtesy of knowing his name. That, and he was Pale's friend. "I need you to stay by the door here. It'll only be a few minutes until Tegan will be ready to be escorted out. Should she lash out at me, I expect her to be treated like anyone else who makes an attack on a Court Noble."

This... was really happening. There was no way to avoid it. She decided to spare herself as much dignity as she could and began packing her own things. The spider legs and the jar of teeth went in her bag, as well as a few other personal effects. She only had her animal form, so not much clothing was needed. All of the money she had went, too. She almost grabbed the bottle underneath her bed when the decided it was best to leave it. It was a half-filled bottle of very high quality vodka. In the last half she'd mixed in the crushed powder of one of the teeth and one of the spider legs, playing chicken with herself to drink it and see what the effects would be. She knew it had full capabilities to harm her, but her curiosity always brought her close to doing it.
Well, if she knew either of her parents, most likely her father, when they found it, it would be drunk. She slung the bag onto her back and went out.
"No need to wait, I'm ready," she announced then headed for the door.

Alaster nodded his head to show he understood. So she was finally kicking out her Club brat? About time. It took a good amount of self control to not give the little snot a good whack or two with the butt of his spear when he saw her running around, acting like she owed the place. Or even belonged.
"Of course, Your Highness. By your command," he stated and went back to the door after giving her another bow. After actually getting a few words out, he was surprised how easy it was. Usually he found himself unable to get out anything intelligible. Maybe it's because now he was being giving a job rather then being faced with something harder: idle small talk.
He hadn't even reached the door before the girl came out. How convenient. He nodded to her, then went to hold the door open.

Heilyn was pleasantly surprised to see her daughter was ready so quickly. Not to mention the fact that Heilyn would have never suspected her to be a light packer.
"Very good. Please at least keep in touch with us, Tegan," she offered, only to be met She watched the two leave, the door closing behind them. Spekkio twitched and relaxed as they left. Heilyn knew the only reason Spekkio didn't lash out against Alaster was because he was Pale's friend. She went to sit in a chair and put her head in her hands.
She had expected to be questioned. She expected to have to explain to her why she was doing this out of love for her. She had no idea what Tegan thought of the whole thing. Heilyn hoped she understood. Tough love was not an easy thing to explain to someone like her. She stood up and shook her head. No. She wouldn't understand now. She will later in life after the lesson being taught sank in.
With any luck, anyway.
