Calia really was an extraordinary woman. Parzifal could see why people regarded the Forest of Kahmden as a quiet place from the softness of her smile and the serenity that radiated off of her even in times of great stress. Maybe maturity had granted her the strength to do so. Hers was a composure that he admired.
"I don't want to pull you from the eggs," he finally said after a moment's hesitation. They really were safest when settled in a nest and covered by a warm body. With all the traveling his egg had recently done, it didn't need any more jostling. Likewise, hers didn't need any more movement than necessary. "Thank you for the directions. If you could just send someone to let him know I'm coming, I would appreciate it. I don't want to turn up in the Queen's office unannounced." And possibly unwelcome. For all the woman's confidence... he still wasn't sure what Queen Theofilus's opinion would be on the matter.
After an appropriate amount of time had passed from the sending of the messenger, he left the room and his egg in search of the Queen of Diamonds.

Theofilus had been surprised by the servant who came to tell him of Parzifal's arrival. He had simply figured that he would show up on his own if he needed anything, but that was assuming the young man wasn't intimidated by The Queen of Diamonds. He could hardly imagine being in the same situation.
Either way, from the way Calia spoke, he seemed like a kind young man. And Calia had never misjudged anyone for as long as he knew her. The sparrow sigh as he flipped through the never ending pile of papers in front of him. He was grateful for the knock on the door to distract him.
"Come in, I've been expecting you," Theofilus said cheerful. He had been quite tempted to "play" with Parzifal, but figured that it would probably be better to get down to business. He didn't want to absolutely terrify the poor man when he probably had plenty on his mind. "So what is it you wanted, the servant wasn't very clear."

Parzifal took a few calming breaths that didn't work particularly well and entered the Queen's office, inclining his torso in respect as he did so. This was absolutely nerve-wracking. For all that he normally presented a calm and collected exterior thanks to his training under Vren and the man's insistence on level-headed 'servants', he just couldn't hold up the front right now. Too much might hinge on this meeting, combined with the fact that this was Calia's lover, and the Queen of Diamonds, and the only person who had a glimmer of a chance at doing something to help his cold little egg.
He tried to keep the trembling to a minimum. The more at peace Calia had encouraged him to be, the more jittery his nerves became.
"Your Majesty, thank you for seeing me," he began in as even a tone as he could manage. To someone so used to reading human expressions, Theo would have no doubt that he looked uneasy as hell. Another slow breath and he could continue. "Calia tells me that you know of our acquaintance, and the outcome. On her part, at least. I ended up bearing my own egg and it seems to be... unwell. She suggested that I present the matter to you for your consideration and potential assistance."
Formality was something that he could fall back on, something he'd learned very young as a servant to an eccentric old man who sometimes liked his guests to see the staff treating him like royalty and other times didn't care a whit. It would serve him well enough, even if his brain blanket out on something else to say.

"It's nice to finally meet you, Mr. Parzifel." Theofilus could have laughed at the expression on the young man's face. It was priceless. Being the Queen did get some wonderful reactions from people. Of course, he had decided to be nice, so stringing along the young man at a time like this would be bad manners.
"I'm not going to eat you, you know. Calia would scold me something awful," He shook his head. "Please relax, just a bit. I'm more than happy to help. A favor. A blessing. Anything. You, willingly or not, happened to be part of the family now, and I would be ashamed if I didn't offer my assistance."
The sparrow smiled. Hopefully the crow would be a bit less nervous, but he could only do so much before to make someone comfortable. "Now. How exactly do you want me to help?"

The man certainly looked every inch a Queen, from the tailored suit and polished appearance to the notable injury to his eye that news said came from his battle for the title. He tried to force his shoulders to visibly relax to convince the man that he was taking the suggestion, but he didn't know how well it worked. The humor was noted, but he couldn't think of how to respond that wouldn't sound twitchy or desperate.
Hearing he was now considered part of the man's family was a bit of a shock, though. It was one thing to hear it from Calia. It was quite another to hear it from Queen Theofilus. But really... that only applied if his egg lived.
He took a breath and convinced his lips to form more than a pale ghost of a smile. "Thank you for your kind words, Majesty. The fact of the matter is that the egg is unusually cold. I don't believe that it's dead." Yet. "There are still hints of life. I'm caring for it as best I can and Calia is sitting on it at the moment, but I'm worried about how to keep it as warm as it seems to need. I don't know what exactly you can do to help. If I did, I'm sure that would make things a great deal easier. A favor of some sort would be appreciated more than you can imagine, Majesty. I don't... want to lose it."
Though he wouldn't have chosen to have a child now, something in him feared that he would never have the opportunity again. Perhaps it was an irrational fear, but he felt it nevertheless.

It wasn't a "simple" request, really. Things could get terribly complicated and there was a life involved. He didn't want to do anything to aggravate the delicate situation. However, hesitation got the situation nowhere. He mentally shrugged off the complications. If anything happened after the favor it would be dealt with accordingly."I can grant you a small favor that should help."
The sparrow opened one of his desk drawers, producing a small handkerchief that was neatly folded. He offered it to the man, a faint smile on his face. "This favor can only do so much. If it doesn't work well enough I can send a request to someone in Capital City to have a new one made. Hopefully, though, it will be enough."
It wasn't fair that someone as young as Parzifel should have to worry about such a thing. He could only hope that everything would go smoothly after this.

"Anything, Majesty. I will gladly accept anything." Parzifal reached out and took the handkerchief from the Queen's hand, lightly rubbing one thumb over the smooth fabric. The power to grant favors had always struck him as a fascinatingly bizarre one, the privilege of rank allowing someone to turn their magics in such varied directions as needed. He wondered what in particular this one would do, whether it was for warmth or health or luck or something else entirely.
"Thank you. I appreciate your help, sire." He inclined his bare torso in a bow and took a step back. "With your leave, I'd like to return to Calia and use the favor as soon as possible. I mean no disrespect." As soon as the sparrow gave any indication of agreement, he would turn and leave the room as he'd come, the meeting thankfully brief for his nerves.
The poor egg. Hopefully this would do the trick...
