Malachior twitched, noticeably.
Acerbic hadn't chirped. Hadn't done anything to let him know he was being followed, and... the boy was accusing him... of taking his Tove?
The King of Spades turned slowly, reaching up to lift Acerbic off of his shoulders. "Excuse me, boy, this Slithey Tove is mine, and has been ever since I can remember..." The Tove coiled around Malachior's arm, offering a displeased hiss to the boy's incredulous claims.
Really now, of all the far fetched claimed. "What could possibly make you think I could have your Tove?" The boy was a fellow Spade. He should know very well that his summon was still there, or was he too young to properly grasp that reassurance?
Parvana couldn't believe how many people had turned up... and so many that she just knew had come to meet that treacherous Donnie. Mourning was the last thing on their minds. It only made Parvana's sorrow worse.
How could they be so insensitive? How could they turn such a terrible moment into a get-together!?
Anatolius reached down, laying a hand on Nova's head. The pup was so worried about Vana and there was so little that An could explain. Vana had been in love, and then that love had very suddenly been snuffed...
No, that wasn't anything a little boy needed to hear.
"It'll be alright, kiddo, Vana will come back around." He scratched behind his ears and sighed heavily, only to notice that Vana appeared to be getting more and more restless. Crap. Had she just noticed what it was she'd honestly walked out into? To a celebration of the beginning of a new era... not the sorrow of her lover's passing.
Oh Vana... Of all people, why did this have to happen to you?
Wulfram was intrigued by what he found on his circuits of the proceedings. A lot of new faces, from new staff to general strangers, and a couple of old ones. He passed by the butterfly once, listening to her cry her eyes out with a hint of sick amusement.
She was probably one of the very few who was openly mourning.
He would've liked to see Donnie step in and sending her along with her lover to the afterlife. It would have at least given him a good laugh...

Parsley was an idiot. He realized that after he opened his bloody mouth. He gave a frustrated sigh as his ears drooped. Of course the man hadn't stolen his Tove. His Tove just looked exactly like his. Which was still strange and didn't make sense. Why on earth would his dove look identical to his? The squirrel's ears twitched as he narrowed his eyes at the man. Maybe he should summon his familiar to prove a point. It never occurred to him that he should probably settle this at a later date. They weren't near the actual casket or anything like, so somehow the squirrel's logic was to get it over and done with. "Fine then. Our Toves look exactly the same. Allow me to PROVE to you that I'm not completely and utterly insane." The squirrel said as he summoned his familiar. The little green creature took her usual place on top of Parsley's head. A smug expression was on the squirrels face when he looked up at the man. Of course he would make such a mistake when their Toves looked like that.

The girl rolled her eyes. Didn't Mom take the time to enjoy anything? So to the point with everything. She trotted to catch up with her Mother. She took in as much as she could traveling at Heilyn's brisk pace. She loved the decorations here. They were so... elegant. It made the decor of the Heart's Court seem gaudy in comparison. Heilyn went for the coffin to view the body. She'd heard of the battle, how brutally this new Queen had taken out the old Queen. When it was her turn to get up and see the body, she took the time to study it. There was no lament or morbid curiosity or even amusement, only calculation. There wasn't much to be seen. They had lain the woman so that only her good side was showing. The repairs to make her presentable were quite excellent, the stitches camouflaged under the fur. Disappointed, she turned. There must be someone she could talk to... A smirking figure caught her eye... but that symbol on his arm. He was a Diamond, then? He definitely looked like he knew something, though. She made her way to him and stood next to him, not making eye contact. "I must say, you certainly look like you know something. Would you care to enlighten me?" Tinman gave a soft chirp. Tegan went to view the body and did so after her mother went to go talk to the... oh~ He was pretty for a man, wasn't he? Well, the body was disappointing. It was fascinating for a bit. She wasn't sure if it was because it was the first dead body she'd ever seen, but the... energy was weird. She paused, taking in the oddness of the feeling, then turned away from it, unable to accept the discomfort it gave her. She toddled over to her mother, not wanting to endure the embarrassment her mother would surely unleash on her. Heilyn only tolerated the girl being here in a funeral she really didn't have much of a right or interest to attend because Tegan had complained about not being able to go with on the Bog trip. She looked up at the man her mom was speaking with. The living were so much more interesting.

His attention fixed back up onto his papa when that hand rested atop his head and he couldn't help but give the older canine a hopeful look. Auntie Vana didn't seem like she was going to be coming back to her usual self at any time, at least not soon, but if papa said she would ... then she would, right? He gave the biped a couple slow swishes of his tail before he stilled it again and went back to looking around. There were so many different looking, and colorful people around that it was hard for him to stay fixed upon his father and his auntie .... even harder for him to maintain a solemn attitude when not looking at the butterfly as well. There didn't seem to be anyone else here that was sad ... and that confused him further.
He looked back up at Anatolius, confusion clearly written on his face, confusion and curiosity. He did manage to keep his voice quiet and soft though, trying to make it to where only Toli could hear him.
Papa ... why isn't anyone else really sad?
His ears flipped forward as he awaited an answer. Well ... there was at least one other person that looked sad... but not like the butterfly, not even close.

Oh why did Nova have to pull out all the hard questions at once? The canine's ears drooped a little, and he crouched down to be more on-level with his son.
"I'm afraid very few people knew the late Queen as Auntie Vana did... Most would grieve behind closed doors, but Vana's grief..." Vana's grief was boundless right now. Too deep to allow her to be proper and polite for the sake of social views. "There is also the new Queen to consider," Anatolius pointed out the yarrow mix Queen as he spoke, "many of these people have been invited by the Queen and do not know Lysaras very well, so they merely come to show their respects."
It was hard, telling the truth while trying to be gentle on the boy. He didn't want to, under any circumstance, lie to him... but he also wasn't about to tell him the sad truth of the day. Lysaras was missed by some, yes, but the majority of people there were simply present to welcome in a new era underneath a new Queen.
Parvana couldn't stop crying.
And she was starting to get looks. Miserably she rung her claws together, keeping her head down, but eventually she had to move.
Wings drooping, Parvana slipped into the crowd and went to find herself a nice quiet spot to brood in. Quietly she was wishing it would rain, to put a damper on everyone's day. Then maybe they wouldn't seem so... uncaring.
Wulfram hadn't expected to be approached, he usually wasn't. Nevertheless, he didn't really mind. This woman was familiar, a noble in the Court of Hearts, and Wulfram wasn't about to turn his nose up at her.
"It vould depend on vhat it vas zat you were lookink to know?" He arched a brow slightly, his smirk stretching ever so slightly.
When the child approached, Wulfram blinked slightly. Guh, children! He could hardly stand them. Ignoring Teagan once more, Wulfram turned his attention onto Heilyn and offered his hand to her in greeting.
"I am Vulfram, und you are?"

Zane glanced around the crowd of people gathered. He highly doubted all these people knew the Queen. He certainly didn't, and from what his father told him the courts had gotten invitations. He glanced over at his father, who still looked painfully uncomfortable. He glanced back at Kel, who had a rather sullen expression on her face.
He was pretty sure that none of it had to do with the death of the previous Queen. He shoved that negative thought down when he caught sight of a rather curious form move amongst the people.
He had never seen anyone quite like her. What... a strange person. And from the looks of it she was actually morning the passing of the Queen. The sparrow patted his father on the shoulder. "I'll leave you to all your professional business as the Queen of Diamonds," he said to Theofilus.
His father raised an eyebrow but didn't question his son.
"Take care of him, Miss Kelasia," Zane whispered before departing from their group.
Zane was too curious to let the woman out of his sight, so he followed her. She looked rather miserable, funeral or not, she must have been terribly close to the previous Queen. He kept his distance when she stopped to sulk, hoping that he wouldn't surprise her.
"Excuse me... I couldn't help but notice that you were...." He couldn't say the 'only one crying.' "Erm. Rather it looks like you need to talk to someone about your loss. Is there anything I can do?"
Hopefully Pravana would look at it as a simple gesture of kindness.

Parvana wanted to curl back up in bed, to let the world pass her by. No one cared that Lysaras was gone, not really. Even Toli. He mourned because Parvana mourned and because he was a kind person, but she would not be surprised to know that he was more concerned with her state than the Queen's passing.
Her heart wanted to shatter in her chest, if that was even possible. It already felt like a fragmented mess.
And then a voice was pushing through her solitude. It wasn't Toli's, which was a surprise, but it did hint ever so slightly at concern. Slowly she lifted her gaze up from the ground where she was currently staining everything in a puddle of salty tears. "I... " Notice that she was what? Vana glanced around, trying to wipe up her tears for a moment. That she was the only insect there? That she was a complete and utter mess? The tears wouldn't stop. "No... I... I don't think so. Not unless you can change the past... or bring the dead back to life."
Both were entirely impossible tasks and, if they were at all possible, Lysaras would already be back and none of this would be necessary.

Malachior arched a brow, looking absolutely perplexed.
Well, the boy did have a Tove identical to his own. How... unexpected.
Abruptly Acerbic released his arm, moving over to investigate the other Him. Which was, to Acerbic's confusion, a Her. The two pulled apart form their summoners, meeting midair to touch noses.
And then, quiet without warning, they burst into a dazzling erruption of green fire.
Malachior's jaw dropped so far that he was surprised it didn't fall off entirely and the toves began to keen and dart around and around, burning all the while. Malachior momentarily reached out to touch one, but the heat was definitely real and he had to yank his hand back before being singed by the erratically flying Tove.
What... the... hell!?!
And then they stopped.
The piercing keening and the wild flying all came to an abrupt stop as the Toves dropped into exhaustion. Malachior was able to catch Acerbic -- at least he figured it was him -- and he stood there in momentary shock as he took in the damage his tove had endured. A horrendous scar now marred the right half of his face and it crackled horribly with green energy.
"What..." Malachior was in shock. Slowly he turned to the faerie squirrel, shaking with quiet rage. "What did you do?"
Tove Mutagen: The two Toves, upon actually meeting one another, will very suddenly burst into dazzling green flames. They will swirl about, crying aloud uncontrollably until the flames fizzle out. Once the flames have ceased, each Tove will have a distinct burn across opposite sides of their faces. These burns look amazingly horrible and crackle with green energy from time to time. As a result of these two Toves meeting, the owners are now inexplicaply connected. Fully able to communicate telepathically with one another through their Toves whenever they like, and (to a small extent) read each other's motives and actions, though not thoughts. If working together, they could become quite the formidiable pair.

Zane sighed. No he couldn't bring back the dead could he? He felt bad for even bothering the girl who was taking the previous Queen's death rather hard. He was bad at comforting people. Worse than his father, even, which said a lot.
"No. I can't help that way. I'm sorry I'm terribly useless. I just felt bad that you looked so upset and no one seemed to care." He said as he laced his fingers together. The funerals were for the living, since the dead couldn't say much about it, and she obviously needed to morn, but shouldn't there be somewhere there to comfort her. It was a confusing matter that the sparrow wasn't good at.
He sighed. Thankfully he had grabbed his father handkerchief earlier. The sparrow walked up to the young woman, holding out the piece of fabric. "Here," he offered.
---
Parsley watched as Larisa moved out of his reach. His ears twitched in confusion as the little green creatures met in the air.
And then to his complete and utter horror burst into bright green flames.
A horrified squeak escaped the squirrel as he fell backwards, landing on his tail in surprise. His bright red eyes widened as the pair of creatures made a scene for everyone to hear and see. This wasn't what was supposed to happen on a day like this.
And then it stopped. Both creatures were falling to the ground, and Parsley flopped forward to catch his Larisa--well he figured it was Larisa. His eyes widened even more as he looked at the the scar running across his summons' face.
"Buh..." was the first thing that escaped Parsley's mouth. His words slowly righted themselves as he stared at the crackling scar on Larisa's face. "I... I didn't do anything!"
Oh. This was a really bad day.

His ears perked up a bit more as his papa bent down, normally he'd hop up and either nip at his nose or give him a slobbery puppy kiss but he resisted the urge to do so, he wasn't going to do something that silly when his papa had a look like that on his face.
When he pointed out the new Queen, the flame winged pup followed the direction of the point and peered at Donnie for a moment before turning his attention back to Anatolius.
So they're here for her? That doesn't ... seem right.
He let his ears flop down to the sides of his head as he kept his gaze on Toli's face. This was a combination of several things he still didn't understand in life and it was a little much to try and soak in all at once but he was giving it his best effort.
One ear flipped forward as he caught the movement of someone black and blue from the corner of his eye and he turned his head to see the butterfly move away. He continued to watch where she was going, but he spoke up a little so Toli could still hear him with his head turned.
Should we go with her?
