Malachior didn't believe him.
The boy had started this mess and he was surly responsible for it. He resisted a brief and rather childish notion of squeezing the little Tove against him and merely lifted it up for examination instead. The scarring was hideous.
And the Malachior realized where he was. In the middle of a funeral. A good deal of people had turned to stare but quickly looked away when the furious King glared a swatch through them. Bastards.
"Erg... Is your Tove alright, boy?" Malachior glanced down from the corner of his eye, not wanting to look Parsley directly in the eye. He wanted nothing more to do with this wretched little squirrel ever again. At very least he would pretend to be cordial about it so as not to create a further scene. If Acerbic was not alright, however, he would take the boy out of the funeral and skin him.
Anatolius sighed softly, hugging his son. No, it didn't seem right, did it? "I'm afraid that's politics sometimes." The canine's ears remained down, perking only when he caught the shrill shrieking of the Toves from somewhere in the crowd. Bloody hell... What was that? His eye twitched and he turned to see two toves spinning around, on fire, and keening as if they were dying.
And then they stopped, plummeting out of view.
....
Well. That must have sucked a bit for the owners of those Toves....
"Errr." Vana appeared to be far too lost in her own world to absorb any of the chaos going on. She simply sulked along until she found a shady spot where she was alone. "Yeah, let's." He lifted up, stretching the kinks out of his leg from the crouch he'd been in, and began walking toward Parvana.
Along the way, however, a new figure arrived. The tall Kahmden bird was one of the few figures Anatolius had seen that seemed genuinely upset, though it would quickly appear that it was Vana which concerned him and not the funeral. "Hold on," he murmured to Nova, "She's got someone with her... If he's nice enough, we should let them talk. If not, you can go bite his tail feathers." Toli wouldn't typically encourage the biting of tail feathers, but Parvana was miserable enough, she didn't need anyone adding to it.
Parvana blinked slightly at the bird's apology.
She hadn't called him useless... though it was obvious there was little he could do to make her situation better. And he had confirmed her innermost fears... she was the only one truly grieving this loss. No one else cared. How could there be so many there and so few who truly missed Lysaras?
So what if she hadn't been the greatest at her job, Donnie could have taken the spot as 'The Queen' and just gone from there. A gentle paw could be more than useful!
"I - I..." Her tears seemed to pick up vigor, stopping her from being able to say the words she wanted to. How could she explain how she felt right now? And how grateful she was that even though he was a complete stranger he was still extending a kind hand.
Sniffling quietly, she accepted the handkerchief and attempted once again to stop her tears. The cloth helped a bit more than her own claws, but still didn't do much when the tears picked up again.
If anyone was useless, it was her.
It took her a moment to control her tears enough to speak. "Y-You're not useless, you're v-very kind. I- I..." She shook her head, at a loss. "It it means a lot to me, really."

No title. He didn't introduce himself with a title. Heilyn felt a touch annoyed, beginning to suspect this man may have actually been a useless pick for talking to. She took his hand in a firm grip to shake. Her Tove crawled from one shoulder to the other to get a better look at the man. He looked funny.
"I am Her Highness Heilyn," she introduced herself. If he couldn't see she was from the Court of Hearts, then he really wasn't worth talking to, "I am mostly curious about this new Queen. You're a Diamond, right?" she asked, pointing to his armband. It was her only clue as his rank was covered. Heilyn was aware that unless the clothing was unbearably obvious, it was entirely possible they could be another suit. Hell, she wore a ring with a Spade symbol on it and Peaches' interesting little friend had that hat with all the suits on it.
Tegan watched. The teenager wondered when it was her turn to introduce herself. When the Toves lit each other on fire Tegan, Heilyn, and Tinman snapped their heads to look. The hell? It was gone after a short bit. Where those people fighting? Tegan looked up at her mother her a moment with furrowed eyebrows, only to receive a shrug in return.

(... XD Totally didn't mean to leave out his rank. XDD [hugs the baffled Heilyn])
"Nein. I em e Spade, Jack auf Spades to be exact." It wasn't like him to leave out something like his title, but Wulfram was admittedly distracted by his investigation of the 'funeral'. The crow bowed slightly, his expression vaguely between apologetic and amused. "As for ze new Qveen, vhat is it you vould like to know?"
Wulfram stopped short when he saw the Toves abruptly burst into flame, his brow arching sharply as he searched the crowd to see the owners of the Toves.
....Malachior?
Well, well! He hadn't expected to see Boss in the crowd! The Tulgey chuckled deeply, shaking his head for a moment. He would have to approach the man later and see what happened to his beloved Tove.
Until then, he had Heilyn and the young bat-eared canine to figure out. "Und you are?" He questioned lightly, fixing his firm red gaze on the younger.

Oh, how lucky! He was not only a titled Noble, but one of this very court! The name sounded familiar, so she felt it was safe to assume he'd been around since before the change in power.
"Well, I'm mostly curious as to her form of leadership. Hopefully under her our Courts will have more to discuss between us." She watched him carefully, keeping her fear aura toned down and avoided direct contact with him. She wanted to observe his reaction without unrelated influence. She allowed herself to show her interest without the taint of her suspicions. Would he show pride? Apathy? She was well aware that the Court had been something of a laughing stock before. If he wasn't as much of a poker face as she was, then she could figure something out.
Then the man acknowledged Tegan. The girl's tail gave a quick flicker. Such pretty eyes he had...
"My name is Tegan. She's my mom," she nodded back at Heilyn. Her ears twitched when they heard something. "Wow, someone's really bawling out there. Kinda funny they're the only one at a funeral..." she said to no one in particular. Though now they sounded like they stopped, or at least quieted it down.
[Heh, don't worry about it XD Tegan's reaction to Vana's crying is a touch late @_@]

Wulfram inclined his head slightly. "E pleasure to meet you both."
As for Donnie's leadership abilities... Well, they pleased Wulfram.
"Under our new Qveen, I vould hope to see our Court flourishing et last." It had better. Wulfram was sick of the way their Courts were crumbling, sick of the mockery Lysaras had made of their great suit's name. And the neglect was noticeable everywhere. At least they'd finally chased out all the filth and were beginning to rebuild their broken image. "Zere heff been many changes since ze shift of power, und all of zhem heff been favorable."
Wulfram found a dark smirk tainting his features as Teagan mentioned the crying. Yes, the butterfly was definitely the only one mourning. It should have been sad, but Wulfram was more amused than anything else. What a scene she made, what a disservice it did to her. She really did belong her Lysaras, they were both too soft.
"Ja. Ze butterfly vas apparently ze late Qveen's lover. Obviously, she has not taken zis vell." Wulfram's voice held little interest in the subject, but his amusement did shine through in sadistic glints.

Souris had been staring almost directly at the green Slithey Toves when both erupted in dazzling green fire. Wincing, she slitted her to let in as little light as possible, even as she struggled to move away jerkily. Stumbling, she almost tripped over an adorable Solandrian Coyote wearing vine-wrapped bracers, talking to a young mix with awkwardly long, gloved fingers.
Blinded and startled, she apologized profusely to the brown spotted, blue trimmed leg, rubbing furiously at smarting golden orbs in a frantic bid to regain her sight, only to panic quite badly as she recognised His Excellance, Hadrian; Jack of Clubs, son of Her Highness, Heilyn Amhiann and Seth, untitled Queen of Spades.
Excellent, she thought, sarcastically, before she reconsidered. About time she met the Card, actually. Both his parents were acquainted with Severus. Perhaps, she would be able to discover more about the surly, uncommunicative serpentine deer.

Mikael gave an odd sound slightly between a yipe and a groan as someone's foot caught him up under his gut. There was a great amount of swaggering, and Mikael scooting out from underfoot that kept a Yarrow mouse from toppling right over him.
There had been a green flash just a moment before; Mikael hadn't seen the cause but he could only assume someone had the audacity to be invoking magic at a funeral. He wasn't necessarily here to grieve.. but this was ridiculous! The apology just about fell on deaf ears as he turned to see two Cards looking at each other with odd expressions on their faces, both cradling toves that looked exactly alike. He wasn't sure what was going on, but he'd turned to regard whomever had tripped over him. Of course, she had already toddled off, and he gave a frown. His side would be sore after that. Then again.. she -was- Yarrow after all. He had to consider that perhaps little more than an apology was necessary when it came to regarding men. Hell, she'd probably done it on purpose!
His nose wrinkled at that thought, and then scanned the crowd to find Her Majesty Donnie once more. She might not take too kindly to people doing.. anything that involved flashy lights and generally causing disorder. Or perhaps she'd brush it off? All he knew was that he was as wary of her fickle temper as he was her set of wolverine teeth.
Then, his brother seemed to materialize beside him. He gave a bit of a jump, looking over his shoulder as if surprised his brother was there. Then again.. he supposed it made sense. There were people from all the Courts here, and he thought he'd spotted his mother anyhow. "Oh.. hey.." He said quietly, giving one last glance toward the Yarrow mouse with a frown. "It's insane out here right now. Toves going insane.. rude guests... It all just feels like some.. sick joke of a funeral."

Nova was quite happy to be moving again, staying in one spot just wasn't something he was good at. When Toli started to walk toward Vana he was right at his heels, and ran into them with a little oof when the older canine came to an unannounced halt. He wiggled his little black nose for a bit before he peered up at his papa, only then realizing how bloody tall he was in comparison, and perked his ears forward once more. He peered around Toli's legs curiously and moved his head until he got a clear shot of the butterfly and the bird ... was that a bird? talking to her.
However, when his papa mentioned biting the man's tail feathers he looked up at him again with a lifted brow .... before he laughed lightly and thumped his tail .... assuming a threatening little pose that just .... didn't quite look threatening coming from a puppy. The growl he issued made it even less threatening ...
He was trying to lighten the mood just a bit, it was weird seeing his papa so very serious and here, away from her side, it wouldn't be rude to Auntie Vana either.

Zane wasn't sure if he wanted to smile or not. He didn't know what to do in a situation like this. "I'm glad, at the very least it means something to you...." He didn't know what to say. He didn't know what to do besides feel utterly awkward.
"I uh... if there's anything you need don't hesitate to ask, I guess. I don't like seeing people suffer. I'm Zane, by the way."
Who didn't notice the light show going on between the Toves? Xiven certainly snapped her head around to look for the source of the horrid sound. Ears pulled back she watched everything die down. What... was going on?
Her eyes wandered over to Heilyn and Tegan speaking to a pale man... who was pure white actually. Who... might that be? Her tail swished curiously as she slowly made her way towards the small group, Tove light show forgotten.
The squirrel stared blankly at his Tove. The scar... on her face was absolutely horrible. He hugged her softly to his chest. "You're all right aren't you?" he whispered.
She chirped him before nuzzling at his face. That was a yes.
"Yeah, she's fine. Er... is your Tove all right? Are you all right? Do we know what actually happened?"

"Oh, Excuse me," he said to the young mouse and moved around her. Best not to linger when it comes to Yarrows - Hadrian had learned that one the hard way. Best to just apologize and move on.
"It's... interesting," he agreed, then lowered his voice so as the Yarrow mix wouldn't hear him, "I'm glad I'm not high enough in rank to have a funeral like this. Let it be known that only people I like and care about will be invited to mine... Hey! When did you get those gloves?" he asked, voice suddenly raising. Wow, those must've been a real custom job for his awkward fingers.
Tegan's head snapped to the man when he said 'butterfly'. Had she heard him wrong through his accent? Was their really a Butterfly here?! An INSECT?! When she'd looked up at her mother with wide eyes, she nodded.
"Yes, Tegan. You can go look at the Butterfly," she said as she gave the girl a very pointed look of 'you know how to behave, or else'. Tegan nodded, her stub of a tail flew into a blur of blue as she bound off in search of the oddity.
"Well, I am pleased to hear that things are looking up for your court," she nodded, "I'm mostly curious for my son, you see. He was recently hired and, while he is a good kid, I worry about him a little," she gave a small smile to the man, then looked back out again. It wasn't really the reason she was asking, she did worry to a small extent about Mikael, but it wasn't the driving force behind her question.
