He pulled another handkerchief and offered it to her. "I wish I could have met you under better circumstances too, Miss Parvana."
"I'm sorry for your loss.... but I have to say at least you're alive. You can carry on for her, and I'm sure she wouldn't be happy to see you suffer so much." Zane gave her a weak smile, "But you've probably heard that before."
---
"Just fantastic," Parsley said weakly as he pet his Tove carefully on the head. He really hoped she wasn't hurt. She looked exhausted though. "I can't imagine nothing happened after that...."
His ears drooped. This was complicated.
---
Xiven paused in her steps when she watched Heilyn walk away. Crap. Her ears pulled back as she stood there looking like an idiot. He had already seen her she suspected.
Oh well she just had to go over and talk to him then. She was still curious about someone like him. He must have been from Tulgey, since there was no other coloration that she could make out, that was for sure.
The feline smiled when she came up to the man, "Excuse me... I was just to curious not to ask. Are you from Tulgey?"

Hadrian followed Mikael a few steps when he was nudged. His eyes went wide and jaw dropped at the next thing his brother said.
"You're kidding. All of them?!" it seemed almost surreal, "You've... hired some people in the meantime, right?" His time here getting things off the ground might be a little rougher than he originally though. He took a quick glance back up at the Queen. Where had he seen her before?! It was really starting to bug him. Something about the letters on her struck a cord.
"Is she now?" He smirked and stole a glance back at the Yarrow mouse. He rather enjoyed the thought of that. He chuckled at his brother's meat comment, "You know me all too well." He liked being a little roughed up by women from time to time.
Heilyn was amused by the man's expression. He found it quite amusing, did he? He was dying for him to say something out of line. Too much paperwork and not enough action made her a little antsy. She really was in the mood to hit someone lately, and not in a friendly spar. Part of the fun was seeing the shocked and hurt expression. She headed off to find Tegan. Gods know how much trouble she could stir up.
I found it! Tegan almost squealed in delight as she caught sight of the electric blue Corvistowan. It was so exciting! She was quite open about staring at the poor young woman.

"I really wish I wasn't right now... I wish I could have protected her." Vana shuddered, feeling a sickness growing in her gut again. Yet, she almost couldn't bear the thought of failing her Queen either. Had she died first... then Lysaras would have bared that guilt with her to the grave. Vana shook her head miserably. "I'm trying to... to stop... but..."
Vana tensed up suddenly, feeling eyes firm on the back of her head. ...What? She had been getting looks all afternoon, but most of those looks were quickly averted for whatever reason. Of course, she expected onlookers.
She was the only insect she had ever seen.
Slowly the butterfly's attention pulled away from Zane to search the crowd and... there. A teenager was staring, very intently, with a look of utmost interest. Parvana quickly turned her heard away, dropping it down lower so that she could gently hide it in one set of hands. Why today? She was not only physically a freak of nature, but she was borderline hysterical and just plane miserable.
Malachior still wore a deep and perpetual frown as he stroke Absynthe. The Toves were terribly scarred but otherwise unharmed, people had stopped staring... but he was quietly enraged. What in the name of the Suits had happened?
And then he caught it... the vaguest hint that something was different.
The older man's eye twitched. A pulling at the back of his mind? He narrowed his eyes beneath his glasses, glancing between the two toves and the Squirrel which held the twin of his beloved Acerbic. Something was very wrong right now. "I'm sure something has happened, obviously... Light shows like that usually have after effects. The scarring seems oddly magical and, honestly... It's our Summons that have been the cause, so it's probably something deeper than a physical level."
At least he was getting his logic back after that awful scare.
Wulfram watched the feline from the corner of his eye, brow lightly lofted. Hmm... When she approached, he flashed a dark smile and tried to keep himself from giving her a once over. He did enjoy Torques... but this one was very different from his Lenore. No bindings, a confident standing... he was sure there was probably some of that rare but tell-tale gold somewhere on her as well.
"Auf course." Wulfram bowed his head a little and offered a hand to the feline. "I em His Excellence, Vulfram. It ist e pleasure, your Majesty... Xiven, is it?" He trailed off, giving the Queen a questioning look. While he couldn't say he knew every noble of the various courts, he did try to keep himself up to date on the current Queens.

"If you can't stop then don't force it," Zane said quietly. He would have given her a comforting hand but he didn't want to invade her personal space. It was just a little odd.
And then he noticed how uncomfortable she was all of a sudden. His brow furrowed as he looked around.
A girl was staring. Oh that was great.
And suddenly there was a little yip. He blinked and looked down to find a small black dog wagging its tail happily. The canine quickly hurried up to Vana, pawing at her with it hopped on its hind legs.
(OOC: Enter Peaches in the form of a cute cuddly canine.)
----
Parsley wasn't particularly gifted when it came to magic. He was just preoccupied with his mechanics and trying to improve transportation. The concept of his Tove doing something to him magically had never occurred to him in the slightest. Why should it have?
Something was wrong. He could feel it. He just didn't know what it was.
"Uh...huh," he said with a note of distraction in his voice.
----
Xiven's lips curled into a smile when he said her name. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Your Excellency. Not many people know who I am right off the bat, I'm impressed."
But she was still curious. No wonder they had that saying about the cat.
"If you're a member of the court of Spades, why do you wear the diamond arm band? I mean, I know plenty of people who support suits other than their own, I'm just rather surprised that a titled court member would wear an armband like that."

He moved along, following the scents of what he hoped were delicious, edible things and managed to be conscious of other people around him. He'd burned several people in the past, mostly his siblings and mama, by being oblivious to them and his wings but now he gave a wide berth to anyone he passed. He had a feeling it just wouldn't be that great of an idea to you know... light someone on fire accidentally. Especially not since there was quite a few human forms around with their oh so flammable clothing.
Well, he had been paying attention up to the point where he got way to into just following his nose and focused all of his attention on doing just that. He continued forward, tail swaying side to side idly as he let all of the sights and sounds around him drift into nothing more then a blur ... and that's when he went head first into something that he definitely hadn't been expecting. It surprised him and he jumped, making a little noise as he did and raising his hackles for a moment ... he sincerely hoped he hadn't run into a person... they'd probably be mad ...

Vana kept trying to smile for Zane, but everything else just... didn't work.
People were staring... and the ever present thought that she was at her lover's funeral just brought the tears back again and again...
And then there were little paws prodding at her, scrabbling for attention with a chorus of cheerful yips. The butterfly's mouth opened briefly in surprised confusion before she found herself melting. "Awwh... H-How'd you get in here?" The butterfly sniffled and reached down, affectionately rubbing the canine's head.
Wulfram bowed his head a little and flashed a charming, but still undeniably dangerous, smile in her direction. "I do vhat I ken to keep up to date vith zhe ozher Courts."
When her attention was directed to his band, Wulfram's gaze followed and he briefly arched a brow. A lot of people noticed it, but very few people ever acknowledged it. "Ze arm band is e matter auf family pride. Zat ist not to say, auf course, zat I lack pride for my suit." The crow puffed up slightly, though not so much as to be overly cocky. "Ve heff e great suit... und hopefully ve vill finally be gettink some recognition at last."
Malachior wanted to growl at the little squirrel. Was he block-headed? What sort of response was that? Uh huh!? The old man's eye twitched briefly, until he noticed that Parsley too seemed to be distracted by something.
Probably that thing that was bothering him as well.
Malachior had to stop himself from grinding his teeth in anger. "I'm going to get a drink." He needed to distance himself from the squirrel if he intended to think straight.
It was a lean human with ruby-red hair that Nova finally ran into. He jumped in surprise and, for a moment, stared in disbelief at his pants which were quite randomly spouting fire at him. Standing at the punch bowl, he was -- however -- rather prepared to douse the sudden fire that sprouted on his pants... but that didn't really fix the singe mark or the punch stain afterwards.
Erm... Oops.
The stranger stared down at his pants, head tilted in surprise before he finally registered the two canines that had approached him. Anatolius was apologizing profusely, but all the stranger noted was: "You're wings are on fire." This was not said in your typical horror that such a statement would involve but a great wealth of delight.
Toli stopped dead in mid-apology. ...Well, that was random. He hesitated and them smiled cheerfully. If the man didn't mind, then Toli wasn't going to stop Nova from making a new friend.

Not only did the human manage to pour punch on his pants, but a good portion of it managed to land on the little canine's face, which made him take a little jump backward. However, he was well aware of the fact that he'd run into someone and, instead of shaking the liquid from his face, he flopped his ears down to the sides of his head and peered up at the man with big, apologetic puppy eyes. He was about to join his papa in apologizing when he realized this particular person wasn't at all offended by suddenly being lit on fire... no.... he was terribly intrigued.
He flipped his ears forward, face instantly switching from sadly cute to bright and happy once more and a little goofy at that since he had punch dripping off his chin. This person didn't seem so bad, not if he recognized the utter awesome that was his wings and that flame colored tail of his started to sway cheerfully. People were so much more fun then food!
Hi! I'm Nova... who're you? Sorry about you pants but... they are cool aren't they?
He hadn't meant to let all of his thoughts fall out of his mouth in what was almost and a super chipper run on sentence, but that's exactly what happened.

Zane was curious to know the same thing but he watched in silent surprise.
The canine Peaches replied with a happy woof, her tail wagging furiously as she hopped happily at the butterfly. She'd never really seen one before, and this was the perfect chance to, right? She licked the woman's hand in appreciation for the head rub.
---
"From the look of things you will. The new Queen is quite the woman...." Xiven said as her tail twitched in thought. But what was the yarrow going to do about the men in court. He couldn't imagine it would be comfortable for people like Wulfram.
He didn't really seem the type to take orders.
"But only time will tell." She smiled, "I wonder what the Court of Spades has in store for everyone."
---
Parsley's ears pulled back as he held his familiar in his hands. Ass hat. Fine. The squirrel thought at the man. You get your drink Malachior. Just get off your high horse while you're at it.
The squirrel didn't realize what he had done as he gave Larisa a light kiss on the head.

The Morganberry laughed rather loudly, the sound deep and cheerful, before he quickly stifled the noise in favor of a more controlled tone. Ah, oops... Not the time, not the time. He lowered his voice and stuffed his hands in his pockets, ignoring the hint of a stain on his dark slacks.
It could be washed.
"Hey~ It's a pleasure to meet you, Nova. I'm Matthew! Pants are fine, they can be washed and mended, but those wings are something else!" He kept his voice hushed in order to keep from seeming too inappropriate. He didn't really know the Queen in order to mourn her, nor did he follow politics in the manner that might mean he ought to keep up with such events, but knowing was always good.
Slowly he glanced up to Toli and flashed a smile. "You must be the lad's father?"
"Yeah," Toli hesitated before smiling lightly and nodding. "That'd be me. I'm Anatolius -- it's a pleasure, Matthew."
The red-headed human reached out cheerfully, clasping Toli's hand and giving it a warm shake. "A pleasure indeed, though on such a sorry occasion." He tilted his head toward the casket before pausing. "Did you two know the late Queen personally?"
Parvana was, despite herself, oddly cheered by the sweetness of the puppy. It wasn't everyday that she saw such a sweet animal running wild and especially not at a time when she felt she could use the affection quite a bit.
Faolin didn't look entirely pleased with the prospect of his summoner petting someone else, but he remained nestled where he was; sulking.
Wulfram grinned slightly and nodded as he watched the Yarrow in the distance. She was a formidable woman, this entire event was proof of that, and she was doing a wondrous job of reforming everything.
Despite her heritage, and her tendency to be a bit overbearing toward him for nothing more than the sheer fact that he was a man, Wulfram was pleased with her. He could work with her, though under her... That was growing mildly unbearable. He didn't like taking such firm orders from a woman... Well, from anyone really, but definitely not someone who thought they were better than him to such an extent...
"E great deal auf change, so far... Most auf our old staff is gone und ve are workink on filling in ze gaps."
Malachior had only walked a few feet when he felt the thoughts of the fairy squirrel burn into his mind. He recognized the voice instantly and it wasn't hard to assume, either, what with the recent events. The buck's hands clenched at his side and Acerbic whistled in mild concern at his summoner's sudden agitation.
Boy, watch your tongue. He snapped back, focusing sharply on the thought of the squirrel. This. sucked. I'm not done with you.

This whole thing had certainly been eventful, if nothing else. Large gatherings of nobility were supposed to be social pit traps, from what Donnie had heard, but combining that with a funeral was apparently enough for small-scale chaos. From the sobbing butterfly off in the corner whom she'd taken great pains to ignore, to the unexplained commotion with a pair of Slitheys to the left of her, to a hell of a lot of mingling... people would be talking about this for quite a while, she was sure.
Good. People needed to be talking about their suit, one way or another, and she would prefer that it was in a social context. The whole commotion about her fight with Lysaras would die down after a few months, or so she hoped, and people could concentrate on things she was actually doing for the Court.
There were quite a few avenues available to her, though. She wanted to go and speak with the Queens of Diamonds and Hearts, both of whom were in attendance and floating around the room at their leisure. She also knew that the other Heart Queen was in attendance, a Torquehelm woman, and she wanted to take her measure to see whether or not she fit the region's obnoxiously incompetent stereotype. And then there was her secretary, not far away, talking to...
Oh, that had to be a joke. She stared for a moment in surprise, a memory flickering across her consciousness of a hotel lobby in the Capital and a particularly stupid Solandrian youth. It couldn't be. What the hell was he doing here? Her eyes flicked around and noticed one or two more potentially... noticeable figures, Tegan for one. Maybe it was. She walked closer to the pair of them. "Mikael. Mind introducing me to the exceptionally bad babysitter by name? I don't remember whether or not I ever caught it."
If anyone else wanted to talk to her, they could easily prod their way into the conversation, she was sure.
