Donnie didn't notice the pretty Yarrow mouse with an eye on their proceedings, focused on the task at hand. Or rather, the people. The very, very interesting people. Who all seemed to be related. Now that was just funny. The Solandrian in Hadrian was obvious enough, and the Bog in Mikael. Their father was probably quite a sight, if his bulkier son was anything to judge by.
She turned her attention to her secretary after a moment's thought, watching him look at something off in the distance. "Mikael, what can you tell me about this brother of yours whose service have apparently been gifted to our Court?" she asked with an ironic smirk, her tone baiting him. Would he be honest to his Queen while on the job, or would he take care toward his brother's feelings? Or both? Or neither, if his mother was his true focus? What would amuse the woman most in this situation? She didn't know her well enough to make the call. Certainly an interesting one, though.

Mikael snapped back to attention, looking up at the Queen wide-eyed for fear that he'd missed something. The unmistakable human smirk on her face made him relax, but only a little. What sort of answer was she expecting from a question like that? An honest one? A humorous one? He studied her mysterious human expression for just a breath longer before finding the courage to speak.
"I have found that a person does not always conduct their business life as they do their personal one, and it is with that in mind that I have the utmost confidence in my brother's ability to do his job." And with that eloquently worded comment, it was probably what wasn't said that spoke louder than his words. Feeling witty, his grin widened behind the mask and he gave his coyote tail a wag. He couldn't help but give a quick glance back to his brother to judge what he thought of the comment. He wasn't going to look at his mother, just in case she disapproved. He'd probably sense it if she didn't; that aura was a monster.

Hadrian perked as his brother answered the question. Finally things were looking up for him! His tail gave the beginnings of a wag when it halted quick suddenly. Wait... what did he mean by that?! Hadrian just stared back as his brother with a somewhat confused, half-fallen smile. Was that... a compliment or an insult?
Heilyn nodded, finally speaking again "I have to agree with that statement. Well put, Mikael." Hadrian looked at Heilyn trying to gauge the neutral statement. True, it agreed with Mikael, but said nothing more than that. Was what he said a good thing or a bad thing, dammit?! It didn't help that her face was absolutely blank. Even her eyebrow had gone back down to the level of the other one.
She just stared back at him. At first she wondered why he was looking so expectantly at her, but when she actually looked at him, his confusion was apparent. It was amazing how expressive his face was without him even being aware of it. She simply turned back to consider the other woman. She cursed the Court of Hearts for ingraining a need for approval in the boy that was quite contrary to what she wanted and taught him to believe.

Donnie had to hold back a snort of amusement at the pale Bog's words, though the emotion could be seen on her face by those who were used to human expressions. That would probably give Hadrian a clue as to the double meaning behind his brother's words. Cheeky little monkey. If he'd had a female role model with as much personality in his life as his mother seemed to have, she could see yet another reason why she got along well with him.
"Your answer speaks volumes," she commented in an ironic tone, the edges of her lips turning up in a controlled smile. "Just so long as he keeps himself under control while not on the job, the arrangement shouldn't be a problem. I will have to express my gratitude to your Queen. We are certainly in a period of transition at the moment and the gesture is a kind one." And quite political, all things considered. A new regime that had already made waves simply by coming into power... she appreciated the lack of hostility from the leaders of the Clubs, whether or not it also included the inevitable surveillance and information-gathering to find out what sort of Court she was going to be keeping.
A busy one.
((Since this thread seems to be slow and to a moderately decent settling-point, would anyone object to its retirement? :3))
