"My apologies," Parzi said to the Mid-Ranger with a small, sheepish shrug. "I wasn't sure if you were really interested in the banter, or if you would prefer to be left alone. Not that there's much difference at the moment, I suppose, since we're here and preventing your escape simply by sitting in your way."
But now that the mouse had spoken up, he was a little curious. "If you don't mind my inquiring, that's a very handsome blade at your side. Are you a soldier?" It was much more polite than asking if he was a mercenary, or anything even more derogatory. He hadn't seen all that many weapons being used by people with their animal forms, mostly because they needed the rest of their limbs for balance. Vermin had an advantage in that arena, he supposed. Looking at the paws of both the mouse and the squirrel, they seemed a sight more dextrous than his own feet.

Parsley smiled. Parzi was good at this. Personally the squirrel couldn't think of a damn thing to say to a complete stranger that wasn't considered "rude." He wanted to ask questions about the Mid-Range. What were their customs? Why did they cut themselves? Did he practice the rituals they did? However he played nice and sat with his paws laced together, ears twitching eagerly.
Ichigo wished he was a solider, but he couldn't see himself joining the Courts unless there was a request. Getting paid peanuts just didn't exactly sit well with him, at all. "I'm afraid not. I deal more along the lines of being a bodyguard. Thank you though, for being considerate." He said with a small smile and a bow of his head. "A former employer was kind enough to present me with this blade with a rather interesting story about it. Though I'm sure that would bore you."
He paused to sip his tea and the resumed the conversation as smoothly as possible. "What exactly are the pair of you doing in the city since you talk so comfortably about... The Wood that I've only heard cursed whispers about?"
Parsley snorted."I left because everyone was a boring snot and couldn't understand that "Outside" can bring new opportunities. And all those whispers are probably true."

"Your employer must have been quite the man, to gift you with such a blade," Parzi commented, eyes resting on the finely-crafted hilt. "Is it true Mid-Range steel? I haven't heard all that much about weaponry, but I've heard the phrase used before and I'd always wondered what the differences were between weaponry made in your home region versus others."
He supposed, after the mouse's comment, that it would be very unusual for an average stranger to sit down and begin chatting about the Tulgey. He just hadn't really thought about it before in the context of a normal city-dweller. "I lived in the Wood since I was five," he said with a small shrug. No need to elaborate on the circumstances unless pressed. They weren't exactly pleasant to think about. The pair of them would probably just assume some sort of familial connection to his host due to his mixed region and leave it at that. "And yes, the whispers are probably founded on fact rather than fiction. Blown out of proportion, maybe... but based in truth. It is a very dangerous place and the residents are usually unwelcoming to Outsiders. Any you meet outside of the realm are probably not a very good representation of the natives, since most of them don't seem interested in leaving."

Ichigo shifted and rearranged himself as he listened to the comment about Mid-Range steel. Not many people actually asked about it. He smiled to himself and waved the waitress over, asking for a few biscuits. Once she had hurried off he resumed his part of the conversation.
"She was quite the woman," Ichigo said with a small smirk, "It is. I've only ever used Mid-Range steel. I didn't part with my previous sword because it broke, but out of respect for a family heirloom. It also has a specif balance to when made into a sword, unlike ones made out of non Mid-Range steel. I'm not an expert, I only go by what I feel."
Parsley yawned and glanced down at his tea in disinterest. Coffee was better. His ears twitched as he glanced over at Parzi. "Some of them are close to truth though. And Parzi's right. Most people are content to live there. My Mom only leaves when Dad gets down on his hands and knees and begs. Hell, my brother has never left."
Then again Alphonse had an excuse.
Ichigo raised an eyebrow at the pair. Interesting. He would make sure never to set foot in Tulgey--of course he had never been inclined to in the first place, since he wasn't stupid.

"The fact that you're able to feel the difference so distinctly speaks for your skill, I suppose," Parzifal agreed, finally looking up from the hilt of the blade. Weapons had always interested him, but never quite enough to learn how to use one. He didn't even have a pair of hands yet, which made it even more complicated. He wasn't a Heart and figuring out how to wield a blade with his feet would be more complicated than he cared to work with at that time.
Then again, this man wasn't a Heart either. His breed had to serve him well in his swordsmanship. "Do you ever think you'll have an enchantment attached to the blade, or would that be disrespectful?" He honestly wasn't sure.
Talk of Parsley's unusual family made him snort a little bit. "I remember your Mom. She was, um. Very nice. For all that she seemed a little... flighty." He didn't want to insult anyone's mother, but the squirrel had seemed like a real twit to him. "You only have one brother, right? Is Sage planning to go to the Villa to actually study, or just to visit? I remember hearing her sing with Poe a few times when we were younger. And what's Rosemary been doing with herself?"

Ichigo was slightly embarrassed by the comment. He had never thought of himself as skilled in the arts of martial combat because he had grown up with it. It was understand it or pay for it by his father's standards. He rolled it off with a mental shrug.
"Enchantments are hardly disrespectful if used properly. This blade was already enchanted upon receiving it." He gave a small shrug.
The biscuits were set on the table in front of him in mid-shrug. For a bit Ichigo was going to ignore the pair while they caught up on family matters. They could have a grand time with that while he debated on how much money he had in his pocket.
The squirrel rolled his eyes. Look at Parzi be nice about his mother, that was sweet of him. "My mother is really special. We obviously got all our smarts from our grandparents and father." He shrugged, "Yeah, one brother. Alphonse is a real jerk, so he can stay put in Woods until he learns a bit of taste."
"Sage is actually planning to go to Villa to study. Hopefully she'll get over her crippling fear of people there.... Rose went with her to help her enroll in a couple of schools. I don't know how well that's going though, since she's been pretty airy lately. Going from place to place and all that. And Thyme is being her typical Highlander self." He rolled his eyes. Family. Such a wonderful thing. "But...you'veonly met Sage right? I can't remember who Mom dragged on her little trips besides her perfect little doll."

Parzi gave the sword another long glance after the mouse's comment, quietly interested. "Very good to know," he murmured, absently reaching for a biscuit as they were set on the table.
"Yes, I've only met Sage, but I think she mentioned you all at one point or another. Family was always a good subject with the three of us, since it was all we really had." Depressing thought, but he wouldn't have traded them for all the freedom in the world. It distressed him that he hadn't seen either of them for a little while. He needed to keep better tabs. He would have to send them his new address when he reached Parsley's house so that they could write, at the very least. He wasn't about to let either of them slip through the cracks. They were too important to him.
Taking a sip of tea to clear the biscuit residue from his tongue, he shook his head. "I'm glad to hear that she's finally acting on her plans. You could practically see the raw talent radiating from her. She'd always referred to Rose as the loud, outgoing one, so hopefully she can convince her to enroll."
He wasn't sure how to take the 'perfect little doll' comment, especially not when it was said with a touch of sarcastic venom. Was that a dig at his mother or at his sister?

Ichigo quietly sipped his tea and ate his biscuits, he wasn't about to interpret the pair especially when it was just so interesting. He hated being nosy but... well he could always make an exception.
"Out going and loud, yeah. That's Rose to a T square." He shrugged. "I have to admit that Sage did have talent, it was something painfully hard to ignore. I think she can do it once she gets over her mind numbing fear of people thanks to Mom."
Sometimes his mother was just.... well she was always special but there were somethings he would have hoped she didn't pass on in the gene pool. Unfortunately she did, and they happened to go to two of the three pure Tulgey's in the family. Somehow Rose had managed to skip it, but what she got wasn't much better. Oh, whatever. None of that had to do with anything.
"I guess your family doesn't really have that outlook that Outsiders are terrifying." He commented with a shrug before taking a sip of the foul liquid referred to by many as tea.

From all that Parzifal had overheard of Femi's conversations with Vren, the woman was entirely biased against Outsiders who weren't a part of her family. It was unfortunate that bias had been passed on to her children, or at the very least Sage. She hadn't been shy like that around him for a long time so he could hardly remember how utterly terrified she'd been of new people when they were both younger.
"Not... really," he replied with a matching shrug, feathers rustling at the movement. "Our mother was from Torquehelm and none of us are pure Tulgeys, so we could never fit perfectly into the culture of the Wood even if we'd wanted to. I'd be more inclined to be afraid of Tulgeys, honestly, if I didn't know so many who were just eccentric rather than threatening. I just settled on a healthy respect for oddness and left it at that."

Parsley shrugged. Parzi was pretty lucky not having to deal with the soap box outsider rants. Then again he had been "working" for Vren which had always seemed a little bit illegal.
"You haven't seen her recently either? Rosemary told me she sprouted wings because of some crazy accident. Apparently she's more drop dead gorgeous than ever. It's probably going to be a breeze to get into school with her looks. Takes after our pretty Corvie Highlander Dad." Parsley said with a snort. "Then again I'm often told I'm just as pretty. Personal preference I suppose."
Ichigo had to raise an eyebrow at the comment. In his personal opinion the squirrel was hardly pretty. Unusually decorated and feminine, perhaps, but not really "pretty." His sister sound terribly strange. Sprouting wings at random? And her brother seemed to have mixed feelings about her in the first place.
