Tegan contemplated her newest purchase. She was getting hungry, but couldn't afford to but a lunch after purchasing something far more important. A jar of other people's teeth. It was stupid, but that shop sold magical items. And if it wasn't? Well, that man would find his store mysteriously flattened come next snowfall. She turned the jar too look at a different side of it. She looked at her other new purchase. Her delightful new Bandersnatch. She was... just gorgeous. Apparently a breeding mistake from a Highland Champion breeder. Had all the traits save for a small number. The tail was too long among other things. Tegan thought she was perfect. She named her 'Siku', which meant 'Ice'. She found it fitting. Now to train the damned thing... [Awful post, I know, I just have to get things flowing and hopefully it'll get better.]

With a gleeful bounce in his step, Kaden trod into the city on the semi-lookout for his ferret friend. Jak had said that he would see Kaden before Kaden saw him, so he wasn't really looking but he did hope to encounter him at some point in his excursion. He had convinced his father to purchase that awesome dead spider, after all, and now he was psyched to play with it... If only he'd find Jak, then he could play with it with him. And Jak would have those wicked... The bird's thoughts were promptly interrupted as he bounced along past a table with a fluffy blue and brow female and... the Jar of Teeth? Oohhh... Had Jak not gotten them? That was disappointing, and his poor friend... The bird tilted his head in thought, tapped a claw against the ground, and made up his mind. With a quiet chirp-squawk to get Quicksand's attention, he turned in mid-step and bounced over to the table. "Hiya! Couldn't help but notice your awesome teeth in a jar! Do you know what it does yet?" Balancing on one foot, he plucked the jar away from Quicksand with one claw and nudged it up onto the table as well. Quicksand didn't protest when the Jar was taken from him. The removal of the weight in his little carrying sack was slightly more comfortable and gave him more ease to bounce and bite and all those good things that carrying stuff made it hard to do. And then, to the Bander's fascination, he saw another of his breed. Very rarely did he get to interact with them, aside from Mango and Quicksand dominated all. The lean bander shifted his weight, eyed his fellow, and sneezed.

Tegan's massive ears went up as the very strange bird boy approached her and not only commented on her item, but put something on her table.
That Spider. The one she saw at the shop.
She tilted her head slightly.
"Yes. I do have a jar of teeth, and no, I don't know what it does," she never looked at the boy, only at the Spider, "Did you want something from me?" Tegan found his nice to look at, but not very attractive... but she knew she wasn't hard to look at. Maybe if she shmoozed a little, she could get a free lunch.
Siku eyed the other Bander as their masters spoke. The sandy-colored one caught the stocky female's attention. Then it sneezed. She raised her head, ears fully perked. She sneezed back and leaned her head in a little.

Kaden paused for a moment, taking in the details of the girl he'd confronted. She was a club like he was, but a King... She out ranked him a good deal, as most people did, but hopefully she wasn't one of those people who got snotty about it. He kept on his winning smile and leaned in a bit. "I was curious bout the teeth, 'sall... Saw that jar before I came back to get this one," he tapped his spider's jar as emphasis before shrugging. "I'm Kaden, by the way, and you are?"
Quicksand wriggled his little stub tail, eyes flashing curiously. He inched forward a little, glancing up at Kaden to be sure he was properly distracted, before sneezing again. He fully intended to investigate the fluffy female more fully if he were given the chance.
Kaden paused as he noticed Quicksand sneaking away and tilted his long head down to peer beneath the table at Quicksand and his new... friend? Hopefully the girl's bander wasn't prone to attacking... Quicksand may make a bunch of noise, but he wasn't the sort to bite other Banders without being provoked. "Nice bander, y'got there!"

It was best to really get a good look at the person she was talking to, in case he did something that required her to remember what he looked like. He was... wow. Those markings were nice. Damn shame it wasn't female. Or less gawky-looking. Obviously a mix realm. Was he... part Torque? Hmm, interesting. Another Card who was half-annoying restricting Realm, with the perks and (almost) none of the drawbacks. That purple was really quite attractive.
"My name is Tegan," she extended a paw to him with a smile, "What were you curious about the teeth? and... thank you. I'm rather fond of her myself. Her names is Siku. What's yours named?" Interesting pet, but it was not a wonderful as her own blue beauty.
Siku was becoming confused at the signs she was being given. He was making sneeze-sounds... those were something of a challenge, but... everything else about him implied nothing more than a friendly curiosity. The tilted her head and sniffed at him, then sneezed again. She had to be sure before she attacked the male. Her master was new and she had little loyalty to her at the moment.
Tegan looked down. She didn't like the noises they were making. Weren't those supposed to initiate a fight? She really wished her first day as a bander owner didn't involve a challenge like this.

Kaden grinned at the pretty bat-eared coyote and extended a wing to brush her paw in greeting. "I was thinking of something like a trade, yeah? Some of my spider for some of your teeth... There are about the same amount of teeth as there are legs too... so it'd be fair."
When she asked him about his bander, Kaden had to hesitate for a moment as he noticed what the little rapscallion was up to. Was he trying to start a fight? Now was not a good time for that.
Quicksand had always been a playful trouble maker, a lot like his owner, and while he was definitely looking for a challenge... it was very much out of fun. Kaden didn't him a chance to pounce others of his species very often and, with bird distracted the little beast was very much into the idea of...
Abruptly Kaden leaned down and grabbed Quicksand in his wings. Grumbling and sneezing was put to an abrupt and purposeful halt. "Oi, yeah. His name is Quicksand. Got 'im when I was real little, love the bugger even though he's plain." Setting the bander on a nearby chair he gave him a very meaningful stare that said 'no fighting or I'll leash you' and Quicksand was forced to sit down with a great miserable huff.

Almost the same amount, but short by one. Tegan turned the idea in her head. She definitely wanted to be the one to come out on top of this deal. Not only that, but this boy was completely compliant to it. Unless he was the one trying to make her shirt one item... mm no. Only an idiot of a single-digit Card would try to pull that on a King. She gave him a nod when he brushed his wing against her hand. She did find his coloration quite beautiful, but she was sure if it was his breed or the fact the he was male that she didn't like the look of him. Well, in any case, she continued taking pride in the fact that all the good looks were on her end. It was something she never failed to notice. It wasn't until she met someone more attractive than her was when looks didn't matter.
"Yes, I agree, it would be fair," she said, taking notice of the change in the banders' general actions. At the other bander being stopped and put aside, Siku made a smaller sneeze, then began to relax.
"That's quite a long time to have had him," she nodded. She felt a pang of annoyance that he'd had his bander much longer than her. She went back to her lowest denominator and noted that of course this boy would get a bander as plain looking as him.
"I'm willing go half. Well, roughly half," she offered, "I think it would be something of a waste if we just traded one for one. three of mine for four of yours?" She gave a slight bat of her eyelashes, hoping that would help things along.

Kaden, unaware of Teagan's thoughts, continued to grin cheerfully. He'd be happy so long as they came out with a decent trade. He just wanted to get some of those teeth back to Jak and if he could make friends with the lovely bat-eared King along the way then he'd be doubly happy.
"I gotta agree, one for one's a bore... I think Three for Four sounds great," Kaden bobbed his head as he spoke. There were less of her teeth, after all, and he could easily give Jak two -- he only wanted one for himself. Not to mention he also had the body of the spider left, so by all means they were fair.
He also had a feeling that it made her feel better to get a bit extra than she gave, it showed in the sweet ways she batted her lashes in an attempt to sway him with coy lady whiles.
Cheerfully he pulled his jar in front of him and carefully removed the spider husk to dismember it. After laying out four carefully plucked legs onto the table, Kaden returned the rest of the now four-legged spider back to it's jar.

Tegan's tail flicked back and forth at the agreement. What's-his-face didn't seem to be at all affected by her flirting, but that didn't matter because she was getting what she wanted anyway. She watched as he pulled off the legs and set them on the table. She then opened the lid of her own jar and pulled out three teeth and put them on the table near him.
"Pleasure doing business," she smiled and put the legs carefully into her jar. She'd have to find a better place for them eventually. she'd just have to be careful and remember not to shake the jar around too much. She put the jar away as the lazy waitress finally got around to bringing out her menu and bread. She would eat the bread while reading the menu, pretending that she would actually order, then leave once she'd had her fill. She didn't pay Kaden much attention anymore.

Flirting had never been Kaden's strong point.
He didn't do it often, and rarely stayed still long enough for someone else to flirt with him. So it was really no surprise that Tegan's eye-batting had gone right over his head.
"Likewise, Tegan." The muttbird bobbed his head amiably, tucked his teeth carefully into his spider's jar, and watched as the waitress returned with menu and bread. He contemplated stealing a piece but figured that bartering with the King had been good enough. He could snag someone else's lunch on the way home. "Alright! I'll leave you with your meal. Good afternoon!"
With a cheerful wave goodbye, Kaden grabbed his jar and pulled away from the table. With a click of his tongue against his beak, Quicksand was trundling along behind him and they were on their way home. Or onto a rendezvous with Kodi, whichever happened first.
(We can go ahead and close this now if you'd like?<3)
