She was visibly happy as she strolled down the street, her mechanical tove perched on one shoulder, her bat slung over the other. It had been a while since she had come to the capital in such a good mood. (Frankly it had been forever since she had been in a good for no reason at all.) She just felt that something was changing. Even with things the way they were... her suit the way it was. It made her blood boil. Stuffing that away she continued to stroll down the capital. What was there to do around here during the daylight hours? It was too early to hit a bar.... not like she was supposed to be drinking anymore. She had made a promise to herself that alcohol was off limits since the incident. And she stumbled, cursing. Damn, sometimes this missing eye was a pain. Regaining her composure she continued her walk, whistling as she went. Maybe she'd have a chance to crush someone's spirit today?

((OOC: I may very well regret this, but...I don't like seeing Open threads go unanswered! >_>;; )) Eldryia was in a hurry to be on the move again. After all, she'd seen hardly any of the Realms she'd meant to, yet, after making the awful descision to go to the Yarrow Gardens first (whatever -had- possesed her to do such a thing?) and gotten sick from the friggin' poisons in the air, and THEN that...JERK had to come along and beat her up for no reason, turning one day of bed rest into four, and leaving her without an ear. It was so infuriating, but she'd finally gotten the stupid bandage off. Slinking along through the crowds in the Capital like a shadow, Eldryia gloomily kept tabs on everyone she was passing, out of habit. Hearing a curse, her good ear flicked towards it and she turned, purple eyes widening at the sight that met her. Another Torquehelm, with what must have been a very uncomfortable binding, but that appeared to be the least of the bird's worries. She was missing an eye, and one of her legs appeared to be from the Lowlands. Eldy shuddered. There were worse things than losing an ear, she reflected in a rare moment of introspection. Especially since she -could- still hear all right out of her damaged stump, it just...looked like a mess. Even stranger than her many odd handicaps, the other Torque seemed oddly...happy. Curious despite herself, the cat turned to slink after the other woman, knowing the sounds of the general crowd would easily mask the light padding of her paws. She decided after a moment that she was not content with merely watching, however, and quickened her steps a bit. It was only when she got close enough to see what appeared to be a Tove, but made out of metal, and a baseball bat that Eldy realized she had no idea what to say. Curse being a social recluse for most of her life! Maybe the woman wouldn't...notice her...

The heron didn't notice anything at first. It wasn't until the feline came closer did her Tove nudge her. Loreta gave a small sigh as she turned to look at who was following her.
Both her eyebrows arched upwards as she turned around. That honestly looked like a mini-version of Peaches. Minus the ball and chain and the missing ear. Was she one of the mythical children that Peaches spoke about every so often.
Sure as hell could be.
"Who the 'ell are you and why are you following me?" She asked as she gripped her bat just a bit tighter. Blythe's tail twitched as he leaned forward, ready for just about anything. The girl didn't pose a threat, but there was no point in not being careful. For all she knew it was just a coincidence that the cat looked like Peaches. It could really be someone she had insulted one of those many drunken times. Eventually that was going to catch up with her, hopefully today wasn't that day.

Eldy cringed slightly as she was addressed, and gave a cool look to the little...metal thing that looked like a Tove for alerting the odd woman. Nevertheless, she managed a smile as she fell into step beside the woman. "I'm Eldryia," she began easily, "And um..." She searched for words. She couldn't just say that she'd been curious about her weird leg, missing eye and painful binding, sure that these might all be sore points for the woman and very rude to bring up...right away at least. "I just thought you seemed interesting," she said vaguely. "And I was curious about that...creature on your shoulder." Her good ear perked and she turned again to the small green creature. "It looks like a Slithey Tove, but it's made of metal. Is it actually alive?"
Pleased to have settled on a topic that seemed non-offensive, Eldy's tail was held high as she continued to walk. So far, this was a pleasant distraction from her dark thoughts. And after the woman tired of her, she could go on her way and finally leave this blasted city again, in search of her next destination...Corvistowne.

Loreta's wings flared briefly at the cat's comment. "What ya want to say is that I'm a weirdo." She snorted before turning to look at the path she was walking. Damn woman had come up on her blind side. And honestly the name rang a bell. She just couldn't remember if it was one of Peaches' daughters or not. She knew... that Queen girl of hers was part of the courts. Zi? Xi? Vixen?
Oh whatever.
"Blythe was a gift from a Corive friend of mine," She said as she tapped on the mechanical creation with a talon. "Blythe's a real sweet 'eart but he's not living and breathing. I prefer it that way. Less of a pain to feed."
The little mechanical tove rubbed up against the heron. She raised an eyebrow at the feline woman. "You wouldn't happen to be related to Peaches would ya?"

"Well...ah..." Eldy had a half-confused, half-amused look on her face, unsure if the woman was being serious or not. In truth, she WAS a bit of a weirdo...but the cat had far better manners than to say it, even if she hadn't been the first. Manners. When had she picked those up, anyway? Her mother would be so proud.
"I see," she said, nodding. "That makes sense I guess. Corvies really can make some amazing things. I'm actually going to visit Corvistowne for the first time soon. I assume you've been there? Any recommendations?" She had no idea why she was feeling unusually...chatty. Maybe it was because it was nice to meet someone who didn't randomly attack her or hold some sort of grudge against her mother or Torques in general (at least she assumed she didn't, being one herself).
Though then again...! Her surprised expression at the question probably gave the answer away before she spoke...assuming she wasn't still in the heron's blind spot, of course. "Actually...I'm her daughter," there was both caution (since she could never tell how anyone felt about her mother; her reputation was quite odd and tended to evoke some strong emotions in those that crossed her path) and pride in her voice. After all, she still loved and respected her mother...though she was fully intending to ask her about that weird...thing Apocalypse had yelled at her about. And possibly get information out of her that he'd refused to give. After all, she'd already promised to keep it a secret. But that was all very much unrelated to the present circumstance.
"So, I told you my name, what's yours?" Okay, so she was still working on some of those manners.

Loreta snorted yet again and rolled her eye. Girl could use some proper lessons in manners. It figured she was related to Peaches. The woman never really cared much about "proper this and that." Then again the heron could hardly blame her.
"I live there actually. I had a fling with someone and ended up settling down there. I run a bed and breakfast." She shrugged. Hatter was a bit more of a fling but she wasn't about to share that with someone related to Peaches. If the straight jacketed loon wanted her daughter to know about Hatter, the heron was sure she would know about the man.
"Little impatient aren't we?" Loreta commented as she shifted to look at the girl. "You shouldn't talk back to someone who has a blood covered bat in their hand. But, my name is Loreta, and I 'ope to 'ell your mother hasn't said a word about me."

Eldryia perked more at the info that this lady actually lived in her next destination. Now wasn't that rather convenient? "Oh do you? Maybe I'll stop by, then, in that case, while I'm in the area and need a place to stay," she commented, tail twitching. She wondered if, if this woman knew her mother, her bed and breakfast was one of the places recommended in the guide Peaches had given her as a going away present, and made a mental note to check later.
"Sorry," the cat sang in a tone that didn't really seem like a proper apology. But then, as a spy, she liked living dangerously, and she'd seen stuff that would make most people wet themselves. So her sense of self preservation and what scared her were pretty screwed up. Besides a few instances, nothing dangerous had really happened to her directly, so it hadn't hit home yet that she herself was mortal, and she didn't have a proper fear of death.
"I guess I just trust you not to use said bat in a crowded street," the girl went on, shrugging. "Loreta? No, I can't say Mom mentioned you...but then, she doesn't talk to me very much about her weird social life." She shrugged again. Other than the people at the Palace, the only others she'd heard about were Mom's long-dead twin brother and some guy named 'Hatter', about whom she couldn't remember much right at the moment, though she thought Mom might have some romantic interest in him.

"You shouldn't trust me to do anything," Loreta said with a smirk as she suddenly swung her bat over the feline's head. The odd sound made several people in the crowd cringe. She put the bat back on her shoulder, shrugging. "So next time you run into a person with a weapon like this show a little respect. Your mother certainly does."
Peaches did know how to tread lightly if she needed. After all the cat had experienced quite a bit as far as the heron knew. "Good to know she can keep her mouth shut too, I don't want my private business to be splattered all over. I'd have to have to have a talk with her otherwise."
And of course a "talk" meant a "beating." And Loreta had no qualms beating up a noble. "Anyway, if you're staying in Corvistowne while I'm not on business I suppose I'll give you a bit of a discount as long as you tell your mother we didn't meet."

Eldy's eyes widened and she ducked as soon as she saw the bat coming for her, whether it was an intentional miss or not. After all, her natural cat reflexes had been honed over the years by her mother's constant lessons. As her head rose back to its normal position, she raised an eyebrow at the heron, obviously surprised and more than a bit impressed. "...I'll keep it in mind," she said, and this time it actually seemed like she meant it.
Apparently this woman didn't want a reputation? "Well, Mom does know a lot of secrets," was the cat's only response to that. She figured it went without saying that she didn't just go blabbing them around to everyone, or else they wouldn't be secrets any longer. She also didn't miss the veiled threat in Lore's words, but it didn't phase her. Peaches could very well take care of herself and take responsibility for her own actions, which were sometimes a bit out there, even Eldy had to admit.
"Deal," Eldy said, grinning. There were a number of things she intended to not tell her Mom about this trip. She figured that as long as she could say, at the end, that she'd kept her word and stayed out of Tulgey, all she'd need besides that would be a few stories and lessons she'd learned, and of course the reason for her lack of an ear. Heh.
