Eir was briefly stuck on his side and he treated this with another diatribe of curses and threads. When he finally regained his feet, it was after he managed to knock his left foreleg around a bit and he knew it was not going to be good later. When he turned, therefore, and spotted the still form of the squirrel, he let out all of his rage and frustration.
When he finally left the area, the body was in bits, the area drenched in blood, and the stallion's stomach was only partially full. Squirrels, he decided, weren't that good. His tongue cleaned his lips as he limped off through the trees. *#(% Tulgey Wood. It was going to be difficult to find a healer. In the meantime, however, he had an arm and a wing draped over his withers and left the skin of the wing drape back over him like a cape and strips of blood-stained white skin and fur tied messily around his left foreleg. He didn't look so hot, but that was fine. His pain ability began to wore off and, cursing under his breath, the stallion moved onward through the night air. He needed to get some distance before he found shelter.

She wanted to tell Alphonse what had happened. She could only hope that he would still... well like her after this mess. She could feel the tears at the edge of her eyes as she trotted though the Wood, going towards the heart. He normally hunted out there. And then she saw something. Her heart stopped as she took several steps back. No, no that couldn't... it was just something else right? She swallowed hard as she slowly approached the smell of death. "Oh... oh my god...." Rosemary said as she looked at the gore that used to be someone. Someone that was close to her. It used to Alphonse. "No... No..." she whimpered taking more steps backwards. This wasn't happening. This wasn't happening! He couldn't be dead like this in the middle of the wood. There were pieces of him missing and he wasn't all together. What... what sort of monster had done this? She summoned Forge in all of her distress. She couldn't express what she was thinking with words as she cried miserably. They had to bring his body back home. They just had to.... "I-I'm so sorry Alphonse," she said as she struggled to keep what was left of his body balanced on her back. She picked the severed head of her bother in her mouth, dismissed her sword, and began the long walk home. Crying and praying that she would just wake up from this horrible nightmare.

Femi lay on the couch in the main sitting room of their house, leaning against her husband with an arm around his waist and a tired expression on her face. Rose had shown up at the house a few hours ago and surprised them both with her new look. And she'd thought the tattoos had been strange... After what happened to Thyme, though, she had resigned herself to the fact that her children had odd tastes for magical items and were probably going to turn all sorts of colors before they settled themselves down and dyed their fur back to normal. Her husband had told her about things like that happening in the big, unpleasant city, and she wouldn't be surprised if they took advantage of the convenience. Apparently Rose knew the place well enough to come home smelling like flowers. Eventually she would come to her senses eventually, Femi was sure. As late as it was, she could feel her head drooping a little lower against Kazifel's shoulder and was just drifting off into a doze when a knock at the door woke her up. Probably Rose, or Alphonse coming back from the hunt and too full to fly comfortably through a window. "Be right back," she whispered, leaning over to kiss her husband's cheek before standing up and going to open the front door.

It had been a long quiet walk filled with tears. At this point Rosemary couldn't really see, but she clawed at the door until she was able to knock properly. And there she waited, miserable, with her brother's mouth in her head. All she could do was sit and stare at the door through her bleary eyes. Kazifel had been paging through a book as Femi was falling asleep on him. What was taking Rosemary and Alphonse so long anyway? His ears twitched when he heard the knock on the door. He opened his mouth in protest, but Femi had already gotten up. He sighed, and went back to reading. His children had gotten into all sorts of trouble, he just prayed that they would remember to stay safe. Coming home part moth, or coming home covered in writing was one thing, but.... He was just being paranoid. He sighed as he turned the page. Children were so complicated.

Rubbing one knuckle at the corner of her eye sleepily, Femi unlocked the front door and swung it open. She looked down and stood there for a moment, just staring as her brain tried to connect the sight before her to something that made any sort of sense. What could Rosemary possibly be holding in her mouth? That wasn't... no. It couldn't be. That was quite impossible.
When her daughter shifted and the silver fur at his ears gleamed in the dull light coming from the other room, Femi shrieked and screamed, the sound ripping up from her throat as she stumbled back and away from her daughter, whose mouth was covered in blood.
Her little Five. Her Alphonsey-monster. Her snarky, sweet baby boy.
Never one to be quiet, she screamed again, hands flying up to clutch at her mouth as she tried to find words. She couldn't move beyond stumbling back a few more steps and hitting the banister at the base of the staircase.

Rosemary couldn't do anything else but stare at her mother, her brother's head still hanging from her mouth. She didn't know what to do or say. She didn't know how she was supposed to react. She just watched the blurred image of her mother scream and fall back. She simply sat there.
Kazifel leaped from the couch as he hurried to save his beloved Femi. But apparently she wasn't the only one who needed help. After going to her side, Kazifel's head snapped around to the door. Only to find his daughter sitting there, blood on her muzzle, her eyes blood shot and something hanging from her mouth.
Something... that something. A gurgle escaped Kazifel's mouth as he stared at the sight in front of him. He moved to grip Femi's shoulder, but ended up missing. He couldn't honestly believe what he was seeing. He just wanted this... oh god he wanted to be sick.
"Rosemary get inside! NOW!" he yelled as he tried to calm down Femi.
His daughter wordlessly moved forward, closing the door behind her with a kick. She apparently wasn't going to let go of her brother's head so soon. Her father kept shooting her horrified looks as he tried to help her mother. What... was she supposed to do?

Femi didn't know what had happened. Her mind couldn't even begin to comprehend something as awful as one of her children actually dying. It just wasn't in her power to grasp, not until it was shoved in her face, and even under those conditions she was having trouble forcing her mind to accept what her eyes were telling her had happened.
After a few gasping breaths, her mouth opened again. "W- wh- w- w- whaaaa~ii?!" The stuttering ended on a shrill half-wail, her brain not certain what she was trying to say, only that she needed to say something. What? Why? How? Her little baby...
She didn't notice Kazifel miss in his grab for her shoulder, but as soon as Rose kicked the door closed, she jerked to the side and clutched at her husband as though he was the only thing keeping her from collapsing. Wide, strained pink eyes never left her daughter's face and the head... dangling from her muzzle. She whimpered against Kazifel's fur, fingers and claws clutching tightly at his jacket and ripping a little bit as she began to tremble.

The door slamming was enough to make Kazifel jump a bit. Femi clinging to him was enough to drag him back to something that wasn't fear, but shock. It was nothing but a horrible painful shock. That really was Alphonse in Rosemary's mouth... what....?
"Rosemary," Kazifel choked, "Rosemary what happened? What... why...?" Kazifel had to hold back the urge to vomit at the smell of blood. Was this really happening? Was this really possible?
Slowly she put the head down on the floor. She slowly looked up at both her parents, not really sure how to put things. "Mom... Dad...." she said quietly. "M-mommy... Daddy... I found A-Alphonse dead. Something.. something... something ate him!"Her voice broke into a rather pathetic howl as she slid to the floor, babbling about how sorry she was that she couldn't find Alphonse in time, and how it was all her fault that she couldn't keep the family together.
Kazifel... didn't know what to do. He stared blackly at the head on the floor, and the crumpled Rosemary. All he could do was sit there in horror, and hug his wife as tight as she would allow.

Letting herself hear Rosemary's words just made the situation that much more real, but as hard as she tried, Femi wouldn't erase them from her mind. They'd been said. They were there, hanging in the air and in her mind, as heavy as lead. She clutched at her husband, trembling soundlessly for a moment as she stared at the lifeless head on the floor of their foyer.
Rose's jumbled words didn't make sense in her brain, but the sorrow in her voice finally broke through some sort of barrier. She didn't want to move, to leave the cocooning hug of her Kazifel, but she couldn't leave her daughter sobbing and babbling on the floor. Reluctantly and with a jerky motion, she pulled her arms away from her husband and moved out of his embrace, stumbling over to the girl crumpled on the floor. Stepping around the mess in front of her - if she thought about it she would faint, so she didn't think about it anymore - she knelt and wrapped her arms around her daughter.
Also her baby, even if she stopped allowing it years ago. She would never be anything else. The hug turned into her sitting down and practically dragging Rosemary into her lap, burying her face in the girl's neck and whimpering.

Kazifel made no protest when his wife left his arms. He watched her walk over to Rosemary, and dragged the girl into her lap. There they sat, Rosemary was still babbling, but now she was crying into her mother's arms. There was nothing he could do or say. He stared at the head of his dead son.
His son was dead. Alphonse may have been a miserable brat at times but he was still their miserable little brat. He hadn't deserved anything like this. No, no... why had this happened to his son? He let out a small whimper as he slowly rose. He slipped out of the room, desperately searching for something. Anything. He found himself in his workshop, looking through all his boxes before finding one of the wooden crates. Grabbing a blanket from the closet as he passed. Returning to the scene he set the box and blanket down. Crouching besides the mess he gingerly lifted his son's head.
There was a brief moment when he stared into the blank face where he remembered his father, his sister, and all the death he had seen before. Why did he have to see his son like this? Snapping out of it, he proceeded to to wrap the head in blanket and then he placed it in the box. No. He didn't want to see it... just... he couldn't. They had to bury it.
Rosemary continued to cry in her mother's arms. She continued to rant about how she would never be able to keep anything together. She only ended up failing Alphonse and the rest of the family. She didn't even notice what her father was doing, and probably would have protested.
