Carefully balancing the full glasses, bowl, and vase on the tray, Femi made her way carefully towards the foyer. Ah, but they'd moved into the living room. Good! That was a nice, safe place to have a conversation. They'd had lots of conversations there, over the years. She set the tray down on the table and held out a glass for Kazifel, holding it until he accepted it. Then she sat down on the other end of the couch and held out her arms to him. She wanted to wrap her arms around his slim human torso. He was just so huggable.
She looked at the hunched girl on the other end of the couch with a curious sort of sympathy. Obviously she was upset. The poor thing. "Whatever it is, it can't be that bad," she said soothingly, trying to help. "I'm sure Kazifel can help you. He's very good at things like that. The most wonderful person I've ever met. I'm sure he can help."

It was breaking. The cracks were spreading.
Kazifel accepted the drink with a weak smile, taking a sip before setting it down on the table. He let Femi hug her, he wasn't going to fight it no matter how much he wanted to recoil. This wasn't the Femi that he loved. This was something else. He watched in horror as she spoke.
Rosemary didn't look up. Maybe she should just go? This clearly wasn't a good day for either of her parents. They clearly didn't want to listen to what she had to say. Her mother didn't even know or care that she existed.
Why was this happening? Why had Alphonse died in the first place? If she ever found out what killed him she would find it, kill it, and wear its skin as a coat.
She finally looked up up at Femi. "I didn't bring any Roses besides the ones on my fur. You used to call me Rose."

Something didn't feel right in the air. It made Femi a little uneasy and she curled her tail around herself and her husband. She hated it when a room felt like this. She always felt like she was missing something big and important, the elephant in the room. If she knew what an elephant was.
She nuzzled Kazifel's shoulder, but that didn't seem to help anything. Then the girl spoke again. "Oh, yes, your fur is very pretty. Is that natural? And I... what?" Puzzlement crossed her features and then stayed there as she stared at the girl.
That didn't make any sense. She didn't know this person, did she? She glanced briefly at her husband and received no help. "Erm. Did I? I'm afraid I don't remember. That's so strange. I..."
She paused and her eyes went a little glassy as she stared at Rosemary. Her face became even more confused as her mind tried to catch up with itself, running furiously. It had so much trouble catching up.

Enough. He had enough. This wasn't going well at all. "Femi, let's go to my workshop. I have something to show you." He stood up rather suddenly and tried to get his wife to move with him.
Rosemary however acted before he could do anymore. Hopping from the couch she looked back at bother her parents. "I'm sorry I bothered you. I'm going to get going."
Her parents didn't love her anymore. She choked back the tears as she turned away from them, going towards the door.
Breaking. Kazifel watched as the cracks finally shattered the fragile glass that kept the family together. It was like losing Cassiel again. It was like Femi almost dying. Panic flashed on his face. "Rosemary, please don't go."
She paused for a moment. Her father had never sounded so panicked. "No. I need to go. I'll come back later. Tomorrow maybe."

Femi's eyes remained slightly glazed-looking as Kazifel spoke to her. "Mmm? What? Mmhm." She stood up with him, her mind still off somewhere else and trying to catch up with itself. She felt so fuzzy and distant.
"Oh, goodbye then," she said absently as the young woman hopped off the couch. But no, this wasn't alright. She looked up at Kazifel and frowned. His face... he was upset. Something was wrong.
Something was wrong and this girl was upsetting her Kazifel. She turned around, furred hand still on his arm, and frowned at Rosemary. "No, you need to stay. If Kazifel says you need to stay then you do. Don't go anywhere. You're upsetting him. I shouldn't let you leave. Why are you upsetting him?"
Her face turned back to Kazifel. "Why is she upsetting you, love?" she asked with a touch of pleading in her voice. He was upset. Why was he upset? It was... upsetting.

Words wouldn't come. Kazifel simply stared in horror at his wife and daughter. This wasn't happening. This wasn't happening. It was repeating itself. Something had gone wrong and he had failed somewhere and now it was all falling apart. Why couldn't Rosemary have picked a different day? Why now? A rather usual whimper escaped the man as he took a step back reaching up to press on his temples.
This couldn't be happening.
Rosemary choked. No. She didn't want to deal with this right now. She wasn't going to stop even if it made her mother cry. It's not like her mother understood what was happening anyway. Turning to face the woman broke her resolve however. And watching her Dad only made things worse.
Why couldn't she remember?
No. She couldn't stay.
Rosemary quite suddenly disappeared. Using her power to teleport to the next region over. She'd sort everything out later.

Femi started getting more worried, more upset, and more worked up as her husband whimpered in every evidence of pain, a sound she actually noticed just then. His head, why was he reaching for his head like that? What was going on?
Clutching harder at her husband's arm, her claws inadvertently dug into the coat and arm beneath as she tried to understand what was happening and why everyone was getting upset. She was so confused, and everything was swirling around in her head uncomfortably. It almost made her feel sick. She let go of his arm when the girl looked like she was still going to leave, but then she looked back and...
Disappeared.
She screamed loudly and jumped back, grabbing at Kazifel and half-climbing him. What?! Where did she go? "Sh- she left!" Femi half-shrieked. Then she started crying. "W- wh- what's going on?" she wailed, utterly lost and upset. And he was upset. Which made her more upset. She was actually hyperventilating a bit.

Guh. No. No no no. This wasn't working. This wasn't going right at all. He shriek made Kazifel jump, he watched as the woman he loved started crying. Hyperventilating.
This wasn't Femi. This wasn't the real Femi that had saved his life. She couldn't possibly be the same person that he had loved. That had changed him from a doll to an actual man. This person was just like a child. Did that make him nothing more than just a worthless play toy again?
Was he like Cassiel's experiment again?
It was only for a second that he hesitated to comfort his wife. She wouldn't notice. She wouldn't really care. He shifted to his bipedal form so he could comfort her properly. "I-I'll explain later. Just please don't be so upset. I'll explain later. I promise."
Not like she would understand.
