Kazifel continued to work around the kitchen as he waited for a response. Putting the spices and oils in the pan so he could slowly cook the chicken. He would heat it up once everything was properly mixed. He raised an eyebrow at the comment. "When you're done put the potatoes in the water."
The man walked past Pale, grabbing one of the large knives and grabbed the chicken. He could take the skin off pretty easily without the massive carving knife he was holding, it just made him feel better, to be honest.
Guh. People. He hated people. Why did Rosemary have to be so damn friendly?
His thoughts came to a grinding halt when Pale finally revealed the truth. It was something stunning. Unheard of. Something that Cassiel would be fascinated with. The Corvie in him perked slightly while the rest of him pushed it down.
"Ah," he said simply. "You doubt sound happy about being human. I imagine something awful happened."

If it wasn't for his own skill with a blade, Apocalypse might have felt some nerves at the way that his host went about skinning the chicken. Mine's still bigger. he thought to himself, comparing... Rhiannon's blade to the one the man held. Pheh, that wasn't what this was about, really. When the potatoes were all diced, he did as requested, flinging them a little harder than he'd intended into the water, something he blamed his nerves on. They were running wild, and Rhiannon's increasing presence in his head wasn't exactly helping. It was like she was watching him, judging him.
He sort of wished he could punch her right in the face, but that would involve summoning the weapon first, something that could be interperted wrongly.
But the man's reaction... That couldn't be feigned. He'd hit some kind of trigger, something that made the hairs on the back of the Heart's neck stand up. All the things Rhiannon and Heilyn had told him about Corvies slipped back into his mind, and he tensed. Maybe letting this slip had been a bad decision, but for now, he'd go with it. What could he do, other than that? Shut down entirely? Punch the man in the jaw and make a break for it, giving the JubJubs a treat of his brains?
"It's not that I'm not happy about being alive. I love that part." he said as casually as he could manage, feeling his grip on the knife tighten. "The circumstances... yeah, they were pretty damn awful. Rhi... Rhi tried to kill herself." Did kill herself. Would have killed herself, had he not done... whatever it was that he had done. He still felt like he hadn't done anything, but everyone around him seemed to like to say it was all his fault. Whatever the hell that meant.
Rather abruptly, Apocalypse set down the knife, his fingers clenching and unclenching on nothing. "Ugh, just... Don't tell Rosemary. I don't want her to think less of Rhiannon." There was a pleading tone to his voice, something that sounded almost out of place.

"Oh?" Kazifel said as he stopped in mid-motion. The look on his face flashed surprise. Perhaps he wasn't all that different from this person. The thought was a frightening one. His expression turned blank when he heard the next few words.
Tried to kill herself. The wolf could feel his stomach churn in protest. He bit the inside of his lip as he set down the knife. He stared down at the chicken, listening to the other words that the man spoke. It took him a minute to process everything.
Such a horrible feeling. Why did he feel this bad?
His had reached up to press his temples as he shook his head. "I wouldn't tell her that. You or Rhi should when you're ready. If that time every comes. I can't imagine she would think badly either way. She's not that type of person."
He could feel a headache quickly forming. Death. It really was a horrible subject. If Cassiel hadn't been dying she wouldn't have turned him into a doll. He wouldn't have killed that poor woman... then again he wouldn't have met Femi. "In the cupboard near the edge of the kitchen... could you do me a favor and grab the bottle in there. My head is killing me." He gave the man a rather pained look, "Your story reminded me of someone who left a bad taste in my mouth. I seem to be getting a lovely headache from the guilt."

Hah. So he did understand, and he finally understood what Apocalypse meant. Granted, the man couldn't possibly know about Cassiel, but at least this was one person who wouldn't just hate him without knowing the full extent of the situation. It was a terrible situation. It sucked, hard. Apocalypse shook his head slowly, running a hand over his face and trying to keep completely composed. He hadn't wanted to tell anyone that. Up until this point, he'd managed not to, simply telling everyone who asked that she'd been in a terrible mindset when the switch had occurred.
Which was entirely true. He just didn't want to tell people how terrible it had been.
"I will. Someday." he said, waving a hand vaguely. He didn't want to, mostly because he didn't want to talk to Rosemary again once this was finished. But he knew that he should tell her regardless. It would probably smooth things over between them, but he didn't care what state they were in. "I just... Rhi didn't have that many friends, either, and I'd rather they could think of her fondly. She doesn't react well to Clubs anymore, either."
He turned away again, picking up the knife and cleaning it off in a stream of cool water, investigating the blade idly. When Kazifel spoke again, Apocalypse raised his head, glancing at him. Then, he nodded, and opened the cabinet, finding the bottle. He wondered what was in it before deciding it wasn't any of his damn business, and handed it over. "Here you are. Sorry to bring up bad memories."

Didn't react to Clubs well? That was clearly a problem. Did that have something to do with being a weapon? He shrugged it off. It wasn't like it was a problem he could solve.
He accepted the bottle with a small nod. Popping it open he took a long swig before speaking again. Setting it down near the chicken he shrugged. "It's not your fault mostly, I can't stop thinking of all the stupid things recently. You just happened to touch on a subject I used to pretend didn't exist."
Skinning the chicken, he should get back to that. He started the task once again, still biting the inside of his lip. Why couldn't he stop thinking of his sister now of all times? And that Mili? Why couldn't he just forget about them and focus on Femi?
Because that hurt too, didn't it?
"This is a personal question, but I'm kind of curious. You clearly don't like my daughter.... so why exactly did you sleep with her? And... could you pull the plates out of the cupboard over there?"

The man watched with a curious expression as his host drank - rather fascinated. So to deal with his issues, Kazifel was turning toward alcohol? It wasn't entirely surprising to the man, but after watching Rhiannon's exploits in regards to various drugs... Apocalypse had decded to avoid them. His poison immunity only gave him a little more motivation to avoid them - he'd have to work hard and spend a lot of money to feel anything from most drugs, he was sure, so it struck him as being an utter waste of time. He gave Kazifel a small nod of understanding. "Like I said, seems like we're more alike than we'd care to admit."
Except for the drinking to deal. Apocalypse would stick to fucking things to keep his own emotions at bay. Though, he grudgingly had to admit, if anyone had a reason to drink, it was the Ex-Doll with the insane, child-like wife. Creepy.
The other King's next question gave him pause, and he let out a short, harsh laugh, shaking his head. There was one he really didn't want to touch. "Magic." he responded, feeling the burning hatred for the purple-haired twat raising in him anew. He took down the plates - four of them, three for his host family, and one for himself and Linnea. She'd eagerly eat from her father's plate, he was sure. "A... Jack at the court thought it'd be hilarious, considering that we hated each other even then. Then I got pregnant, which I didn't even know was possible until that moment." He brought the plates over, setting them down. "Silverware?" when he'd been pointed in its direction, Apocalypse gathered it up. "...But damn, I love my little girl."
He laughed again, shaking his head. He really did, more than he'd ever thought he would. All throughout his pregnancy, he'd anticipated what'd happen after the birth - mostly that he'd strangle the infant and be done with the whole damn thing. He hadn't been expecting the surge of protective love he'd felt for the little girl, and as she grew, so did it.

Having something in common with a King of Hearts. Kazifel's eye twitched as he continued to tear the skin of the chicken. He was done fairly quickly and walked over to the skillet, setting the chicken strategically throughout the pan with the vegetables and oil. He then lit the fire, which took a little bit of effort so he wouldn't accidentally light himself on fire.
Magic? That seemed rather unfortunate. Of course it made perfect sense since his daughter wouldn't sleep with someone she hated unless something else was involved. At least he hoped. He motioned to the silverware and continued to listen to what Apocalypse had to say.
It did make things a bit better.
"I'm glad to hear that. Unexpected children can be a bit of a surprise. Part of me is thrilled that I don't have to worry about that anymore," He snorted. The other part wanted sex, not like he could manage much of anything anymore. It was entirely too awkward to anything with Femi. He would flash back to some inconvenient time, and get entirely too frustrated to stay in the room.
He grabbed a fork to poke at the chicken and turn it over when he needed to. "Could you get some milk from the fridge and the bowl and whisk from that pantry for the potatoes?" He turned off the fire underneath the boiling pot.

He didn't have to worry about that anymore? Apocalypse wasn't about to ask for additional information in regards to that. Either the man wasn't having sex with his wife because he didn't want to anymore (which would be a relief, really, because then the grandfather of his child wouldn't be a freaking pedo), Femi didn't want it because of her bizzare child-mind, or they simply couldn't have any more children. That was fine, because based on what the man knew about Rosemary, they'd had... quite a few babies already. So he tried for a smile.
"Here's hoping this'll be the last surpsise I have," he remarked with a nod. He didn't want to close the door on the possibility of him having more children one day - but when he did, he could only hope that they were expected and wanted.
The man continued to do exactly what Kazifel instructed in regards to the preparation of dinner. Silence filled the room as he worked, but he didn't mind. He was taking mental notes as to the way his host was cooking, notes for his own reference. It wasn't long at all before a delicious smell filled the kitchen, and at the smell of it, Apocalypse became sharply aware of the fact that he was starving. How long had it been since he'd last had anything to eat?
Too long, he decided, once the meal was completed. Food and company... All in all, it wasn't terrible, but Apocalypse couldn't wait until the next day, when he'd finally be able to leave and return to his own life.
All the same, it was nice to know that he would have some support in raising Linnea, should he need it. A smile tugged at his mouth and he glanced at Rosemary, nodding at her slowly. He could do this.
(sorry for lamepost, but I wanted to wrap this one up <3)
