He stopped and regarded her closely for a moment, dissecting the words that had just uttered from the leverets mouth. Was this the leverets way of questioning him? Or was the small rabbit just looking for confirmation? It took him a long moment before he responded, trying to sort out if this was some sort of challenge to his authority.
"The walkway must be spotless by the time you're done, but otherwise, carry on."
With that the Jack stood up and brushed himself off before moving back into the Warren. He wasn't entirely sure how to treat this newcomer yet. His son Jun had made him paranoid about the loyalty of his workers, though he could not assume that all others were like him.
Once the Jack had reached his study he sat, cracking his neck and trying to relax. He must not assume all leverets were trying to get back at him in someway. This one had seemed quite submissive earlier, perhaps it had really wanted to know the right way to do things in this Warren. There was always a learning curve in each one, as certain Jacks did things different ways.

Thankful for the yet again mild reaction to a potential mis-step, Laur offers up a brilliant smile of thanks followed by a sincere nod of understanding. She'd be quite thorough from this point on, cleaning each pile of weeds before moving to the next bed and sweeping the rich planting soil back into the flowerbeds. She'll hustle the current pile to the side all the same before her Jack retreats, long tail whiffing back and forth behind to clear the path so that he could walk by without dirtying his paws.
And back into the fray! While he goes about his business, the morganberry gingerly hops herself further into the bed of plants, careful to slip between the rows of plantings without setting so much as a toe on the smaller sprouts. Odd as it might be- this was an area in which she excelled! She hadn't quite the head for fancy cooking, and things like sweeping could be so tedious- but anything that required a delicate touch gave her a chance to shine!
Humming lightly to herself as she works, the technicolored leveret imagines for herself the finer duties she may someday be allowed to take. She'd never aspire to serve her Jack directly... that seemed too forward. But maybe she'd be able to brush the does or help them with their personal ornaments...

Yes, that must be it. It was a while later after several long minutes of quiet contemplation that Anubis finally lifted himself back onto his feet. Slowly he made his way back out of his quarters, running a hand softly against the packed dirt walls of his Warren. Hum, perhaps he needed to make his intentions with this leveret known, but not yet. She was still new enough he didn't feel like pressuring her too much.
He opened the door to the garden and stood, surveying what was in front of him. The garden was, quite simply, spotless. And the walkway was clean as well. At least the leveret had potential past being a doe.
"Hum. It'll do."
With that he turned around and moved back into the Warren. Put a Jack in front of him, or a doe. Or anything /other/ than a leveret he wanted to woo and he knew what he was doing. This was a first, but something made him think it would be worth it. Perhaps he'd sit in the main sitting room for lunch today . . .

Long, hard work was done on that garden. Laur happily spent hours about it, eager to prove her worth to her new Master by ridding the garden of every tiny sprout that dared set root in his flowerbeds, garden, or herb garden. Many piles of greenery in the compost later, she'd swept the lot of it until it was immaculate. She even whiped her mucky paws before hopping along to await his assessment, quite proud of herself for all that she was sprayed over with loose soil.
But... it'd do? she deflated so evidently that her bright colors almost seemed to dull, lengthy tail plopping onto the path behind. Left there on the walkway, she'd wait until he was well out of sight... looking to hop herself off for a thorough bath before she so much as touched anything else. She'd work harder next time.... show him how it was worth the kindness he'd shown.
