It had taken time for her to recover from her wounds. The physical damage had been taken care of by the best of the best, but the mental scars... They'd take time. After all, the court had been her safe place, somewhere where she could enjoy life and learn about the world and all its interesting people. It was with a hint of sarcasm that she'd realized that she had learned about the interesting people of the world. Cannibals. Seriously, how weird could things get? Treasa shuddered at the memory. But she was somewhere safe, now, much closer to her parents. In fact, her Papa Lior was just a shout away from her, and if anything went wrong he would take care of her. That was what papas were best for, after all. She smiled to herself as she snuggled into the sun of the window, yawning as she found a comfortable place to curl up. Her snout was neatly tucked under what was left of her tail, and her eyes slid shut slowly. She'd intended to just sit and enjoy the feeling of the sun on her fur as she watched the world, but it all felt far too good. She just needed a little nap.

Marie was in a hideously foul mood that day. The world was getting to her in the worst possible way. She just couldn't stand it. Her summoner's Pravus looked to be getting into an even worse mood with everything that happened, none of his children were competent individuals, his uncle still pissed her off with every forced smile and cheerful greeting, and she just wanted to kick puppies. When one happened to present itself, she couldn't quite believe it. She stared for a second at the Highland canine, one of... wasn't that one of the Worthless Emo Cat's offspring? Him and his obnoxious cloak and his depression and his inability to ever please her Serafino. She had never liked him at all! His children were just as intolerable in their own ways. Gold eyes narrowed in dislike as she stared at the girl. Then she marched over, her soft shoes making little noise, and glared. Then she balanced herself on one foot and forcefully kicked the girl out the window. Ahh. That did feel better. She smiled a little and wandered away.

There wasn't a chance to react, just the sudden impact of a foot that jerked her awake in an instant.
She let out a high-pitched scream, a noise that seemed strange coming from a canine body like hers was. It was a horrible thing, like a nightmare that brought her back to that horrible day, the feeling of her body being propelled through a window and the glass shards falling all around her. The feeling of falling, her body light. There was only a moment for it to happen, but she tried to spread the useless wings in her back, an automatic response that she just couldn't control.
Three stories was a long way for a puppy to fall.
The darkness swam around her, thick and stifling. It took the air right out of her lungs, pressed down on her chest like a heavy weight. She couldn't see a thing, and the whole thing just felt... Wrong. Was she... dead, then? She'd already escaped death once before, so she supposed it must have caught up with her. But that meant that... Maybe... She could see her siblings again. See her Jak...

His daughter's scream was like a knife to the heart. Lior jerked up from where he'd been reading something Xiven had given him, eyes dilating hugely as he tried to figure out where the sound had come from. He knew that was Treasa, just knew it, and a sinking feeling hit him right before his ability kicked into action. He walked like a man possessed down the stairs, taking them at a normal, measured pace and ignoring everything around him. His eyes had taken on their hollow expression and the aura of imminent death radiated from him like an evil cloud as he stalked the halls and stairs. When he finally stepped out into the garden, he moved unerringly towards the broken corpse of his daughter. He stood over her for the few seconds his ability required to confirm her death, and then he came back to himself. And screamed. This was like a nightmare. He had dreamed about something like this, finding her or Kieran's or Rhi's broken corpse at his feet after a period of nothing. He fell to his knees, golden eyes huge as he stared at her, and slowly pulled her body into his lap. He pet the soft fur, still warm from her recent death, and something choked at the back of his throat. Did he still have the ability available to him? His mind frantically scrabbled to determine whether or not he had used it too short a time ago, but when it kicked in... relief, followed by a period of mind-numbing bliss, followed by... more staring, and a bit of panting, as he warred with his mind. Oh Hills. No. He couldn't take his daughter's eye. No...

Death didn't scare her, not now that she was wrapped up in its cold embrace. She was going to see her siblings again, laugh at Jak's jokes as Amhal helped clean her silky fur. They'd be together again, and that was a wonderful thing. She wondered if she'd look the same dead as she did alive, and hoped that they wouldn't mind her new scars and her short tail.
The whole thing felt almost... familiar. Like home. Like... being wrapped up in her papa's arms, his heart beating against her ear, the feathers of his funny cloak tickling at her nose...
She sneezed.
Yellow eyes stared up at Lior, wide with shock as her brain finally registered. She was in her Papa's arms, and he was breathing hard... had he been crying? Or maybe he'd run really fast down the stairs and caught her before she'd hit the ground, only she'd hit her head and was finally coming to. Did it really matter, though? She was safe in her father's arms... "P-papa..." she whimpered, he tail wagging weakly. "P-papa, you saved m-me.."

Oh no. No no no no no no no. Lior couldn't do it. Not to her. Not to his baby girl. The pressing need to take a portion of her soul warred with the father in him and he swallowed around a lump of bile, pulling her closer. "Y-yes, sweetheart. Yes..." He squeezed her carefully and then relaxed the pressure, only half of his attention on the world around him. "We need to go inside. We need to find Mommy."
Hills, Rhi, she needed to get their daughter away from him before he did something utterly horrible. He swallowed again, convulsively, and stood. He really wasn't strong enough to carry her. If she couldn't muster the energy to walk, he couldn't move her without dragging her or something equally unpleasant. "Hello? Anyone? Rhi?!" Could she have heard their daughter's scream? It was loud enough. Between her and Pale, one of them would recognize the voice as Treasa's, wouldn't they?

Unfortionately, Rhiannon wasn't nearby at the time. She was on the other side of the Court, in fact, bringing a stack of paperwork to an attending Jack. Her tail wagged cheerily as it was prone to do on a sunny day like today was, and she was oblivious to the drama that was quickly unfolding just a building away. But Apocalypse was. While Rhiannon delivered messages to the rest of the court, he brought a message to Lior, and passed by just in time. He hadn't caught Treasa's terrified scream, but he did hear what followed: Lior's call for help. It only took a moment for Rhiannon to be alerted, and as she ran to where her daughter and lover were, the weapon hurried down the stairs. He froze for a moment as he finally saw the scene that was unfolding there. Then he hurried to the cat's side, placing a hand on the man's shoulder in what he hoped would be reassuring as his brows furrowed. " Rhi's on her way. What happened?" It didn't take a genious to figure out that Lior wouldn't be able to pick up the girl, and so Apocalypse smiled reassuringly at her as he lifted her, then glanced back at the cat. Treasa looked from one man to the other, her eyebrows twitching uncertainly as she did. " P-papa saved me." she said, beaming up at the pale human, her tail starting to wag. Wait. Her tail... The girl froze for a minute, then started to quiver with excitement. " PAPA! P-papa, you fixed my tail!! How did you do that, papa?" In her joy, her stutter was forgotten, and her golden eyes lit up like stars.

Oh, thank the Hills. Between the two of them, Lior could count on either Rhi or her companion to notice something amiss in the palace. It was large, but not so large that someone in their family couldn't keep an eye on things. "S-she fell out the window on the third story. I don't know how. Something might have startled her. She... I... you know." He gestured helplessly to his cloak, fighting the urge in his gut to do something he refused to do.
He had no idea what would happen if he refused it. He had never tried before.
When she cried out, it startled him enough to make his tail half-fuzz. He stared down at her with huge golden eyes, already on edge, and saw that... yes. The damage had been fixed. All of the damage, even what had nothing to do with her fall. He stared down at her, mouth opening but unable to make any sound come out. How could he possibly explain something like that to her? "Papa needs to go inside," he finally said in a thin, stressed, high-pitched voice. Pale at least would be able to recognize the signs of an imminent panic attack.

The pale man's brows furrowed slightly, slit-pupiled eyes narrowing. It wasn't to say that he didn't believe Lior, just that it seemed unlikely that Treasa would be startled into jumping out a window. After all, the last time she'd jumped from a window, it had been while under her mother's control. When the cat gestured, the man simply nodded. He did know. It was freaking weird, but he knew, and that was enough. " Right. She's alive now, though." his grip around the puppy tightened slightly, something protective flashing in his eyes. Then he moved to Lior's side, scratching the girl behind the ear to try and quiet her. Her father didn't look great, so he hefted Treasa to a one-armed grip, offering Lior the other to lean on. Before they could get any farther, however, Rhiannon burst out of the entrance like a bat out of hell, skipping the steps entirely by spreading her wings and leaping down, landing at the base of them and looking from person to person with wide, terrified eyes. " Lior? Pale, Sa... W-what's going on?[/b]" She looked like she was about ready to collapse where she stood, and Pale knew that it was still entirely possible that she would. He looked at her for a long moment, then shifted his grip so that the girl was on her back in her arms. " Hey girlie, let's let your mom and pops talk for a second. We'll go find cake. Come on, we'll make a game of it." he said, keeping his tone light. With everything that had happened, he didn't want to upset the girl any more, and he was sure that the emotions running between her parents would do it. Seeing them both have panic attacks would be sure to do it, so he'd take her away until they were ready to see her. " What kind of game?" she asked eagerly, her tail wagging with ferocious speed. " Can we get cake for mama and papa, too? I bet they'll be hungry!" the sound of her voice would get softer as the weapon carried her away, and Rhiannon stared after the pair of them with a soft whimper. Treasa would be okay with Apocalypse. From the looks of it, however, Lior needed her.

Lior didn't say anything while Pale took control of the situation, his throat tight as he resisted the unspeakably strong urge to ruin his daughter's face. Why were these horrible thoughts going through his head?! Was this really the price that she would have to pay for a second chance at life? No! He couldn't! She was his little girl!
He waited until the weapon had taken her inside, listening to her eager, cheerful voice question him all along the way. She was sweet and innocent, and even younger now than she had been, though her mind would remain at the same developmental stage it had been before the transformation. "Rhi, I brought her back," he choked in a strained whisper. "She died and I brought her back. It looked like she fell from the top floor. She was... broken, and I... oh Hills, Rhi, I'm going to hurt her. If I don't do something, I'm going to hurt her! But I don't know what to do! I've never tried to fight it before. I don't know what's going to happen if I try. I don't know if it will let me. Sometimes it makes me do things."
Throughout this quick, choked babble, he shook and sweat, fighting the compulsion.
