Ceren had been expecting Iria's request, and so she nodded slightly. A warm blush began to creep up, showing strongly against her cheeks, tinting her nares purple with its intensity. She gripped box and paper more tightly, finding that she did not need to look at the paper for the words written there to come through.
"The moon to the sun,
A King to her Queen.[/b]"
She began, voice wavering ever so slightly. Her heart was fluttering in her chest, like a bird beating its wings hard.
"To love and to serve in your every request..
It would be the greatest joy imagined.
I'll be beside you by day,
Keep you warm by night,
Defend you from your enemies with my very being.
For what would life be without you in it?[/b]"
The sparrow's voice rose in volume, finally finding its strength as she spoke. She hesitated for a moment, smiled at Iria, and began to speak once more.
"For you,
I would trek to the highest mountains,
And bring the highest acclaim to your very name.
I would write a thousand letters,
Bringing a thousand powerful allies to your side.
I would capture a thousand stars,
And it would still never be enough to match the light you gave to me.
I would stand beside you as your King until my heart's last beating,
Until we are both old and tired,
Until the sun tires of her constant rise and fall.
It would still never be enough time to serve you.
My Queen, my love, I'd ask only one favor of you.[/b]"
The sparrow whispered the final line, falling to one knee before Iria and finally bringing her hands before herself, letting the woman see the small black box she held. She opened it, revealing the glittering ring inside, hope glittering bright in her eyes. The band matched the one that had been given to the sparrow so many years ago, but it was cast in gold, and in the center were three gems: Two shining diamonds sat on either side of a glimmering pink sapphire that had been cut into the shape of a diamond.
A smile flitted across the bird's face, expression shining as brightly as the gems as she looked up at her Golden One.
"Iria, will you marry me?[/b]"
