Elyse gave the other woman a kind and gentle smile of thanks. Grabbing up the bandages she made quick work of wrapping up the man's chest and bandaging his arm to his side as well. It definitely would not be good for either of them if the male ripped his stitches when he awoke because he moved his arm too much.
With all that she could do for him at that moment done she sat back. "You can lay him down gently now." She offered to the woman before she turned to face Elias. " This is all we can do for him now till he awakens. He will be out for a few more hours now, unless his metabolism is higher than normal. After he is awake, I will have to access what damage I could not see, if any, was done to see wot further needs he has. In the good case scenario it should just be medication to help the pain and physical therapy."
She refused to admit that there might be a worse case scenario out loud. It would do none of them any good to broad over it at that moment. Though she was prepared for it, as she tried to always be prepared for any situation with her patients.

Enyo was reluctant to move, even after the woman said that she could. Still, it would be better for the man to rest easily. With the same care she'd used to move him the first time, the Hisstor slipped out from under the unconscious stallion and laid him very, very gently back on the cushions. She gave a very discontent sigh at the sight of the pale, drawn features, but at least the healer sounded hopeful.
The woman sighed and plopped herself down on the floor beside the bed and laid her head along the edge so her nose was near one very still hand. She hiffed at it sadly, rather hoping that it would start moving and come to touch her nose, but there was no such luck.
"When are you going to wake up?" she asked softly, though her voice held a bit of a whine to it.

"Thank you, Elyse, for your expertise and for your discretion." He turned to look at Rai as he finished speaking to her. "You've given us hope, which is more that I thought I could hope for when I saw Perseus earlier. Maybe we can still set this right." When the healer was finished he would make arrangements for her payment, and transportation to wherever she might want to go for the time being.
The gaunt zorse was looking more and more sad and pathetic. Much like Elias felt. "Well, since you seem to know so much about us, why don't we pass the time talking some. You can sit right there next to him if you want." Elias wasn't the type anymore to sit there stroking his friend's hand, but it would be nice for someone to do it. How convenient. "So, when did you and Whip meet?"

She gave a nod of acknowledgment to Elias. "Since there is no further need of me till he wakes up I will leave the two of you alone." She was pretty sure that she could trust Elias not to kill the female. Maybe.
Making her way out the door she went in search of her father. She was not quite sure which news, if any, that he had been told of the situation. If he had not been warned ahead of time then he was sure to think that Rai was dead.
And that worried her.
It took only a bit of time before she was in front of her father's room. Knocking on the door and not hearing any reply she opened to the door anyway. Giving a confused blink or two it took her a moment to realize that her father currently was not there. Searching inside the small bag that she carried with her she took out the small piece of marble that had its home there.
Sending out a message to her father she asked where he was. A confused reply came back from after a moment.
The gardens.
Quickly she made her way there.

Enyo rolled her eyes over to look at the man standing a short distance away. She gave a small, entirely unhelpful shrug. "I've known him forever." It was a little hard to talk with her weight resting along her jaw as it was, but it didn't really matter. She was still able to talk and if it was a trifle jumbled, the canine could still make the words out.
"You've known him for most of his life," she also pointed out, perhaps helpfully. "He always looked up to you." Hardly news, but at least it got the woman's head to come up a bit. She was actually very curious about Rai's 'father'. "Why did you take him in?"
With her head up and attention turned on Elias, she didn't see the fingers twitch just once on the bed, though there was no other movement or sound.

Elias shrugged his broad shoulders, leaning against the wall, eyes on Shinrai. "First, because it was the right thing to do. I'm a lot of things, but back then, at least, I wasn't the type who would leave a youngling to die in the Marsh."
His eyes glazed with the recollection.
"After that, I started to see his potential. I could see how tough he was. He was getting over some pretty serious injuries, and he was barely ignoring the pain magically at all. And he was smart, if impatient. But patience came with age."
Elias could still remember all the times Whip got frustrated with him for his policy of victory through patience, especially when patience seemed more like no progress was being made.
"Knowing what I do now, I'd still do it. I'll never be the kind of person that can let my best friend die if I think one of us can prevent it." Can was the operative word there. Elias knew that outmatched or not, Elias didn't want to beat and kill his son.
This image of Rai, the result of their own best wishes and intentions, would haunt Elias for a long time.
"You're still not answering my question, really, Enyo. How long is forever?"

When she finally reached the garden she stopped short at the sight that reached her eyes. Her father looked horrible. From experience she could tell right off that the man had not been sleeping enough and he looked rather thinner than she remembered. His fur was definitely a little ruffled as if it needed a good combing. There was destruction all around him as well. When she had been growing up there were a few sparse incidents where she had seen something like what was before her now but never to this degree. There was only one thing that could have done this to the garden, in her mind, and that was her father. The poor man, She thought her throat growing thick. It was clear to her that no one had informed her father of the truth. It had been a cruel, cruel thing to do to him. Making her way forward she silently came to stand besides her father. It was a short while before he acknowledged her presence. "He meant so much, my dear Elyse." His words were no more than a whisper. "I think it might be best if you come with me Papa. I have something to show you that might put your heart at rest." There was another moment filled with silence that seemed to ache with sadness before the mouse gave a nod of his head and followed his precious daughter out of the garden.

It was a relief to hear Elias talk of Rai so fondly, though his talk of not letting his best friend die sort of confused the weapon. After all, the stallion didn't necessarily look so good right now, and as far as she could tell it was a direct result of someone attempting to kill the Queen. Maybe that meant that Elias had already failed? She wasn't really certain but she knew better than to just point that particular thought out.
"I've been with him as long as I can remember," she answered with yet another Gallic shrug. After all, she hadn't gained sentience until Rai had gotten her and he was the only one she'd ever been able to connect with that way.
He heard. . . voices. Familiar voices in an unfamiliar setting. One he'd never physically hear before. Perhaps he was hallucinating. It felt rather like he was floating. Was that right?
The feminine voice continued, "I don't think I existed before him."

Elias might have been more comically animated if he weren't so tired, so stressed, just so completely worn out. As it was, he just sighed. The zorse was a grown woman, but had the mind of a child. Maybe she wasn't such a catch for Rai, after all, devoted or not. Then again, a simple mind might be a relief after Whip's - just how many kids did he have, anyway? Elias clamped that thought down because it was just disturbing.
"I still don't get it, Enyo. I've been with Rai for almost as long as HE can remember, and I would think that would mean meeting you at some point. Either you're not telling me everything, or there's something I'm not getting, because I can tell you that you didn't just spring up out of the ground like a beanstalk one day." He bit back the rest of the venom before he could spit it out at her. None of this was her fault. "Sorry, it's been a long few days," he apologized.

As he followed her through the winding hallways he found himself growing distracted from his feelings by the growing sense of confusion. While he trusted his daughter with his life, he was not sure what to make of the current situation.
While it had been a little while since he had received the news he had taken his daughter as being a little more caring on the matter.
"Just where are we going, Elyse?" He finally asked as he did a quick step to bring himself even with his daughter.
Elyse tried to hide her smile from her father at his question. "We shall be there soon." She replied with a nod.
Indeed it was not long before his question was answered when Elyse opened a door and motioned for him to go through first. With only a little bit of hesitation he complied to her request. Only to stop short at the door.
A sight to behold was before him.
Someone whose identity was hidden to him lay in the bed, while a bipedal female sat at this side. The only person that was recognizable to him was Queen Elias who his eyes glanced over before trying to focus more intently on the faceless stranger.
"Wot the @% is going on here?" He demanded to everyone yet no one specific.
