Shinrai tsked his tongue lightly as he gave the mouse a grin. ”Why, Aderlass! That makes it sound like you don’t really care for Queen Serafino! Why ever could that be?” The stallion gave another snort of amusement, ears flicking back slightly. It seemed the mouse shared his almost perverse desire to see wot the absolute worst the Courts had to offer, as he’d often heard the Queen of Hearts described, just to see how he came back out of such a meeting.
He sent the mouse a swift glance at the next question before he shook his head, ”One suit cannot join the Court of another.” He rolled his eyes slightly. ”Despite some creatures’ ambitions to do exactly that.” Though, really, why would anyone want to be outside of their own Court? Well, except perhaps for Clubs. Only... Elias was wholly content to be a Club; it gave him the perfect excuse to complain about everything. And Aderlass himself seemed very accepting of his suit.

“Now really, Whip. I think you come close to putting words into my mouth. Of course I care for the Queen Serafino, as much as the next person who’s life is to be somehow connected to him. You know I meant no disrespect. Indeed! I plan on trying to meet him some day if the chance ever comes around.” He nodded to the horse as if he was proud of his reply.
Taking a few sips he paused before narrowing his eyes at the horse playfully. Turning up his nose in mock repellence, he replied to what he had just been told about the courts. “I do not see why one would want to join a Court of another suit not their own. The idea is quit . . . well, funny. Is there someone who is currently trying to do that? Probably some Ace chicken, holding onto some idea of revenge?”
The idea amused him and he chuckled to himself, his eyes twinkling a little when the caught the light from his humor. After taking a sip of the drink, he added. “It is my belief that one should be happy – or at least pretend happy – with the suit that they were born to. There had to be a reason . . . and if not then –“ he gave a little shrug as if it was all below him. “Then they should be forced to deal with it. It does no good to just lie about and mope.” he finished his rant, muttering words under his breath.
Man, wot ever the horse had ordered him tasted good, he thought to himself, taking a larger gulp. “Wot is this, anyway? he asked, point to the mug with one claw.

The stallion gave a low, rather amused snort, but did not rise to the bait about the infamous Queen of Hearts. Despite himself, concern shot through him again at the thought of his upcoming interview and he quickly took another restorative pull from his alcohol. He certainly wasn’t going to share his own worries about the Queen with Aderlass.
The mouse’s comment about Ace chickens, however, temporarily drove the concern out of his mind and he shook his head at the very idea of such a creature attempting to join a Court, much less that of another suit. He nodded to the mouse’s other opinions on the subject, though he wouldn’t say he agreed completely; everyone wanted to be a Heart, but they should have to learn to deal with not getting the honour. Except, evidently, Aderlass and Elias. It was really quite puzzling if he would bother to think about it, something he had no desire to do right now.
”Manager’s special,” he answered with a shrug, uncertain of anything further than that. It was the only reason he wasn’t drinking the swill he usually did. He returned his thoughts to their conversation.
”So, no desire in you to just lie around and mope,” the stallion observed. ”Anything in mind for that aspiration?”

“Manager’s special, eh? Special is a good word for it.” the mouse replied, eyeing the drink and poking it with a claw. Finding that it would not attack him he took another gulp from it. He would need another mug full soon.
The alcohol only seemed to be starting to take a toll on him, making his the far edges of his head fuzzy. It was great, just what he had come here for: bliss.
Bringing his mind back to the conversation he was having with the stallion he replied “Aspirations, huh? I definitely have no desire to become fat and lazy. Nothing worth while there.
He feel silent for a moment as if he was seriously thinking about the question or at least trying to remember what the question was.
“I do not know. Wot would you think if I became a Vigilante? They sound like fun. I could go galloping about saving the . . .” He waved his had about as if that would explain what he was trying to get across, having forgotten the word he needed. “Whoever it is that they go about saving.”

Shinrai felt surprise shift through him, vaguely amused at the lightweight the mouse was turning out to be. Well, actually… perhaps that was an ungenerous assumption; even in his animal form, Rai still greatly out massed the smaller man. A mug for him was probably the equivalent of several glasses for the Morganberry resident and Aderlass was already nearly finished with his first one. This amused the stallion greatly, though he didn’t comment on it. No, he had other things to remark on.
”A vigilante?” the striped horse echoed easily. ”That… doesn’t seem much like you.” Not that the Josiggy Marshdweller really had a lot to go on to determine wot might be in the mouse’s personality; they really hadn’t had many run-ins. Though the mouse didn’t seem the least bit like a knight in shining armour; pressed, the stallion would peg the rodent as either the villain or the reluctant hero. At least he had no reason to be a judge of the other man’s character.

He finished off his drink, placing the mug on the table with a thunk.
“Of course a vigilante sounds like me. I could be an avenger of justice.” The mouse gave a strong nod of his head. “Then on my off time, I could put on a mask so that no one recognizes me and I could run around causing havoc and disorder. That way I have something to do later. See, everything would work out.” He sounded completely serious though he smiled a little to show that he was joking . . . at least a little about it.
Seeing a waitress walk by, he signaled to them and asked for another drink, this time something less alcoholic. Having taken care of that he turned his attention back to the horse across from him, “I do not think that we have yet to talk about you. So wot is your purpose? Are you going to mope around and get drunk?”

Aha! Playing both sides of the coin sounded much more plausible from wot the stallion had seen of the mouse, and Rai’s ears tilted sideways in amusement. While the mouse might have been joking, the green horse still didn’t see it as being that far from a real possibility. It was such an amusing thing to imagine either way.
He signaled a second mug for himself as well despite the fact that he still had a great deal of his first drink left, waiting until the new drinks were delivered before answering. ”I’m not really inclined to moping,” the stallion said easily. He did often get drunk, however, so he left that much alone. ”Tonight’s just a time for some thought and consideration.” And that, at least was the truth. He had way too much on his mind to even get actually drunk. His thoughts were still a boil of planning despite the fact that they had calmed slightly beneath the influence of another in his presence.

“Thoughts and considerations, eh?” The mouse said, raising an eyebrow at the horse. “You know they say that there is no better way, for one to fully be able to think things through, other than to speak of them aloud. Of course I am not asking you to yell them. No, no that would be foolish. Simply mutter them to yourself and I assure you that things will more often then not fall into place.” Nodding he took another sip from his mug.
“If you wished, you could even mutter wot you have thought and considered now, and then you can see where that brings you in your plans. I am always willing to listen and I will even promise you not to mention to another soul wot you say. If you even wished, I would lend myself as far and to give advice where it might be wanted.”
He did not think that the horse would be up to it. However, he figured that it would be better to offer it then to leave the horse wanting.

Shinrai gave a low, scoffing laugh. ”It sounds like you’re just fishing to learn my thoughts,” the stallion replied with a dark grin. Nevertheless, a sounding board might be useful, especially when it seemed the mouse had aspirations himself to get up into the Court of Clubs someday. The green Marshdweller was all for setting up potential alliances now, though he would still be cautious to not give away all of his thoughts on the matter of the Courts.
”Really, tonight it’s been a look into the abstract. Without an accurate look into the Courts, it’ll be difficult to tell just wot exactly will or will not work. And the Queen of Hearts is known to quite a bit more… eccentric than the Queens of the other Courts. It’s likely I need to be quite a bit more cautious in how I approach my politics than members of the other Courts.”
