The mouse looked back with a mischievous twinkle in his eyes as well, the sudden seriousness in their conversation catching his attention.
“A secret plot, huh? That sounds like loads of fun. Let me know if there is ever anything I could do to help you out. Though with your being a Heart I am not sure there is much of anything that could be of service from me.” He said the last part jokingly, knowing the equine’s view of those who were not of the Heart rank. He was actually starting to wonder what his own goals were when he got into the courts. At this moment he only knew where he wanted to go, not really what he wanted to do.
He turned their attention back to that of a joking manner. He had heard the same the there was a lot of gardens in the court of the Hearts, most of them Roses from what he had gathered. “I think you should make a garden and name it Whiplash. It would be wonderful”

Rai gave an equally mischeivous glance back at the mouse, but didn't divulge any details just yet. He wasn't sure just how the other man's loyalties laid and he didn't want to show his hand too soon, so to speak. It wouldn't do to show any trace of 'crazy' just yet. He needed to be calm and collected so people would take his warnrings seriously.
"Oh, you never know. I've met a few exceedingly useful Clubs; you look like you could be one as well." He grinned wider in amusement.
His eras flicked back, giving him an almost devilish look. "Whiplash? That sounds like a bad pet name, not a garden name! And I think the kids at Court would make fun of me for doing that, and, goodness knows, we wouldn't want that." Still, Aderlass had a very amusing idea even if he wouldn't go through with it.

He raised an eyebrow in returned amusement at the horse’s comment at his usefulness. It was not often that people referred to him as ‘useful’ and he was not sure if he wanted to know what his booth partner wanted. “Why, I do not know if I should be running away and seeking hiding or if I should be complimented by wot you just said. You will let me know as soon as you decide which one I should do, will you not?”
Laughing he replied, “Maybe I should get you a Bander then and we can name it Whiplash just for you. And I do not know about the whole people not teasing you. Sometimes it seems that you could use the humor. Unlike your tail you can be a bit stiff, do you not think? Though with the goal for the Courts it is not necessarily a bad thing, eh?”

The stallion flipped back his ears in amusement and gave a small, negative shake of his head. "Perhaps, perhaps not. I guess we'll just have to see." The pair continued to drink in a fairly easy-going manner as they slowly grew closer.

When Rai stepped into the bar as a King, and bipedal, and still fairly new in the Courts, he was ready for some down time. He noticed that the booth back in the corner was open again, and he quickly headed forit. He slipped onto the bench with some relief. It was nerve-wracking working for the Court of Hearts and specifically for the Queen Serafino. The man was crazy. Absolutely crazy.
Rai gave a sigh and dropped his head onto the table. The waitress walked up, asking carefully, "Uhm... sir? Would you like something to drink?"
"Beer."
She waited, but that seemed to be it, so, after a moment she turned, only for the man's voice to cause her stride to hesitate.
"Lots of beer."
"Uhm... yes, sir." She hurried off.

He had done it. He was about to become a member in the Court of Clubs. A lowly Jack, but it was but a step in the right direction. He had written requesting a meeting to see about his acceptance for the position and now had a letter with his appointment.
Leaving Minh and Mnem at home to complain and gripe about their nearing delivery date and the pains of the pregnancy - from all their complaints he hoped he would never have to experience anything of the sort - he headed out to the Pub and Bar for a night of celebration.
Entering the pub he made his way over to one of the empty tables when a voice caught his ear. Turning to spot the familiar figure of a bipedal green horse, who’s head was resting on the table, he raised an eyebrow.
“My, my, my, could that be you, Whip? We did not expect to see you back among us so soon.”

Green ears wheeled around forward to zero in on the mouse, though the stallion certainly didn't lift his head even for his newfound friend. Their relationship was growing slowly and easily, almost as though they were meant to be close. Still, he was tired and simply gestured towards the other chair rather than actually sit up to greet the other man.
"Sit if you want to," he invited the other man with ungracious words couched in an amused tone. It wasn't that he didn't want to have Aderlass' company, it had just been such a long week or so.
"So. Booze is coming. How are the girls?" He made it a point to not show up at he house very often because Mnem had gotten into the habit of throwing deadly objects at him whenever he poked his head in. He was leery after the last vase had given him a nice gash along his collarbone.

He gave a smirk at the horse’s way of greeting and offering the seat across from him, an offer he took happily.
“Booze is on its way? That sounds like a wonderful thing.” He replied to the horse’s words. At Whip’s questioning after the girls he gave a visible grimace. “Just be glad you are not welcome over there at the moment. Females near their due date are horrible! Demanding this, demanding that, mood swings every five minutes. I swear they will be the end of me. And then wot would happen to my plans?”
He waited a moment, eyeing the male before him remember encounters they had had in the past, such as when they had first met and had spent the evening getting drunk and mentioning plans, as well as an event that had happened close to a month back where the horse had beaten sense into him – literally.
“How goes everything?” He asked, referring to the equine’s responsibilities at the Court of Heart.

The stallion lifted his head about an inch above the table then dropped it with an audible thump. He winced against the wood, but he was certain it had made the point needed. "Things are going quite well," he answered in a flat, monotone. "Queen Serafino is a dream come true to work with. He gets along so well with the others in the Court. It's amazing that everyone in the world is not beating down the Palace doors for the sheer opportunity to bask in the lovely and kind presence of his Majesty Queen Serafino."
He lifted his head to look towards his friend. "How are things going with you?" Not that his sarcastic griping covered even a half of his frustration and annoyance. Perhaps it would be better to just change the subject at least for just a little while.

He raised an eyebrow when the equine lifted and dropped his on the table, making a ‘thunk’ noise as head and table met. So the horse was finding it stressful? he though. For some reason that amused him, it was not often that one got a response like this out of the horse. Thinking that the male would not appreciate his laughter, the mouse kept his grin to a minimum.
“I take it that it is not everything you dreamt it to be?” He could not say he understood the male’s frustration just yet.
Change of subject? Could do. “Besides having to deal with the female? I believe it goes well. I have an appointment with Her Highness Anoushka in a few days for my request of a Jack position in the Court.” He replied. It was just a step in the direction of his goals, but it was the first most important one.
