Rai's ears flicked forward towards the other man when he learned of the upcoming appointment. "I wish you the best," the stallion said quietly. "The Court of Clubs definitely needs someone like you in it."
He gave a sigh and pushed himself upright, though, and sent Aderlass a bland look. "We once joked that Queen Serafino was crazy. He is. And I'm dealing with that every single day, whilst balancing the fact that I must stay interesting and just submissive enough that he doesn't want to get rid of me, yet keep him constantly aware of the fact that I -am- my own person and I have an agenda that I'm pursuing. It's a constant battle between being a lackey and a character. I knew it would be this way, but I hadn't realized just how difficult it would be."
His eyes skimmed the bar; where was their beer? He desperately needed to be drunk ten minutes ago.

He gave a small laugh at the equine’s comment. “At this point I am afraid to inform you that the Court of Clubs could use anyone. Our numbers are sorely lacking and that is something I wish to see changed.”
He eyed the horse carefully, his face and manner falling serious, when Whip pushed himself into back in his chair. He was not really surprised to hear the horse’s words about the current Queen of Hearts. Even those who were in the Capital, and he was sure the other realms, heard about the Queen Serafino.
He gave a wince at his words. “I wish you the greatest luck with that. I would hate to see you dead because you said or did the ‘wrong’ thing by accident. Take it as a game? You seem like the sort that would be good at that.” The mouse was not sure he would do well in the situation the horse was currently in, however, it seemed like just the situation that the equine would conquer.
When Whip turned his attention to scan the pub and bar, the mouse followed suit, giving a smile when he saw the barmaid heading over with their drinks.

"Light, there's the beer!" The woman had a few glasses and a pitcher, and the stallion nabbed the mug nearest him and drained it quickly. Good-bye, liver; hello, oblivion. Actually, it was beginning to take more and more to get him drunk now. With that in mind, the equine was quick to refill his mug, drain that, then refilled it once more before continuing the conversation as though he hadn't just finished off two beers in less than a minute.
"Oh, there's no doubt that I can do it," he answered easily. "The question is, can I keep it up long enough to become a Queen." He grew silent for a moment, pondering that very thing. Of all the craziness in the Courts, it seemed like the Court of Hearts had the epitome of it all. Of course, there were a few rumours about Veldmair as well. "Perhaps," the stallion said thoughtfully. "Royalty makes you insane."

He had no doubt that the horse could do it, he would and he would pull it off far better then anyone else they knew. “Surely the current Queen can not be that far worse then the stories that we hear.” the mouse replied. The rumors one heard about Serafino were surely not something to be taken lightly, but he was not sure just how true or not they were. The horse was bound to be the only person he knew who knew the truth. Honestly from the rumors alone the mouse hoped he never had to make the acquaintance of the Heart Queen.
“I can imagine that it goes to the head, but I sincerely hope that it does not make one insane. That would bode ill for my plans.” He replied with a sincere nod, stealing one of the mugs of beer before the equine could steal it and drain it. By the Courts the horse could drown a lot of beer in such a short amount of time.

"I think," the stallion replied easily. "That it has to do with absolute power. Absolute power, absolute insanity."
He took another long swallow, glorying in the taste and just waiting for the wonderful moment when his senses began to take a hit. Anything to keep from losing his mind too soon. His ears twisted towards the other man as he pounced on the mouse's words in further hopes of distracting himself from his stress.
"Insanity would disturb your plans, eh? How so? You have plans of greatness in that little Court of yours?" He gave a small wink to help take any bite out of his teasing words.
Not, came the suddenly sobering thought, that it wasn't a good idea; the stories of the Queen of Clubs were a little frightening themselves. He didn't know anything specific, but he knew he wouldn't bring any small children into that particular Court just to be on the safe side.

The mouse gave the horse a knowing smile. “Well it would not do me any good to let my plans loose at this moment in time, but yes that would definitely place a hamper on my future plans.”
He took another long drag from the mug before him. Alcohol . . . it was almost better then coffee. Almost. Well definitely more so now that he was back in control over it.
Tilting his head at the equine for a moment he measured his decisions before continuing, “If things go as I hope, then the Court will be under a new power and the ‘little Court’ will not remain very little. There are more then enough Clubs wondering around who will find themselves better off in the Court and much more useful.”
Okay so that was not so much in keeping his plans to himself, though it was definitely not enough for other people to attack him. Jack was the first required step in his plans, and that would be taken care of soon enough. This was going to be fun.

Rai's ears tilted forward slightly at the mouse's words and the hints of grandeur behind them. Well, well, well. He raised his glass. "I salute your hopeful future," he said softly then knocked back the rest. Haha! Shock to his system. He could finally feel the beginnings of the affects. He didn't want a nasty hang-over and he didn't actually want to get completely sloshed, so as he accepted his next glass, he simply held it for a long time before taking a much smaller sip.
"I know a Club...." the words were somewot muttered under his breath; a thoughtful statement rather than pointed. "He would be great in the Court... but he can't return yet." That particular secret would take a few deaths and a lot more beer to get out of the stallion. It wasn't really his secret to tell.

“To my hopeful future,” the mouse replied taking a long draw from his mug. Placing it down he glanced around eyeing the different people that occupied the Pub and Bar.
At the equine’s low words he glanced over his shoulder to the horse.
“Did I just hear you right? You have a friend that is a Club?” His tone was full of mock shock. There had been many instances where the horse had made comments about his being a Club and the like. Whip was a Heart so the mouse did not bother holding it against the guy.
After giving a grin his expression turned a little more serious. “Is that so?” His interest had definitely been sparked over his friend’s last words though he would not push if Whip did not want to talk. Boy he hoped Whip wanted to talk. If the friend was aiming with the same goals he wanted to be aware of his competition, if not then well . . . it did not hurt to know others who would benefit. Creating and not burning bridges, right?

Rai blinked, as though surprised he had said that out loud. His ears flipped backwards as he put on a mask of amusement and joking, the slip too sudden to be entirely natural. "Oh, yes, I know it's a shock." His grin might have been just a shade too bright. "I've never spend any time around any Clubs. It would be too much shame for a glorious Heart like myself."
The equine pushed into the joking rather than explain the comment. "And you, I bet, never, ever hang out with any Hearts. It would be positively unseemly."
It never occurred to the stallion to not joke about suits and even ranks on occasion. Elias had taught him that as well; one's rank and suit were just a tool towards getting wot you wanted. You had to understand the strengths and weaknesses of your position, and neither could be a reason to stop you from reaching your goals.
