For all his ranting both aloud and to himself the mouse missed any important transaction that had been going on between the two males. He was not very good at this good cop, bad cop thing.
Lofting an eyebrow he considered the ram before him. Something seemed different about him but the mouse could not place a finger on it. Surely he was not that drunk, geez? Seeing that the are around them seemed to be filled with tension he decided to let it all go anyway.
He lived in the graveyard? Well that was not down right depressing and lonely. Well, lonely in the aspect of conversation. Or was this guy one of those strangers who thought they could talk to ghosts? Did people like that truly exist?
"So now you decide to be all chivalrous? Look, you have scared the poor guy half to death. Helping him home is the least you can do to make up for it."

Rai turned to send Ader a strange look. "Being chivalrous to another guy would be gay," he pointed out without rancor. "I want to know where he lives."
The explanation didn't seem to help the ram; Ladarius shrunk even further in on himself. Still, the Heart got him moving fairly quickly, hustling the Spade through the streets so they could get him dropped off and get back to the bar without further delay.
Darius was in a fog in his own mind, dully giving directions whenever he was prompted for them. He was finally secure in his own little apartment-- it was dingy and small, but cheap and all he could afford. The stallion leaned down, his words soft and threatening, "I highly suggest you don't change residences without finding a way to let me know."
The ram stared blankly up at the stallion, but finally dropped his head in an uneasy nod. Rai smiled darkly and walked out of the entryway without a single glance back.

The mouse tilted his head to the side as he considered that matter of opinion. Weighing it in his mind he could only help but grin in amusement. Well, you learn something new about people everyday.
Watching his friend walk off he gave a long sigh, shaking his head from side to side gently. "He is a bit sharp of tongue, that Whip is. I would not take his words to too much heart, bite over bark and all that, but it would probably be safe to follow them. Sorry for roughing you up any."
With that said he looked toward where his friend had walked off to again. He gave a small shrug before following after him. Maybe he could get his friend drunk - or more drunk then he might have already been. Just maybe if he could accomplish that task he could see how far his friend's stance on chivalry toward the same gender could be pushed.

The ram only nodded blankly at the mouse's words and gladly closed the door when the two men finally left. A shudder shook his whole body yet again. He felt. . . defiled. He huddled down into himself for a very long time and then suddenly threw himself down the short hallway to the bathroom. He turned on the water as hot as he could stand and just let it run down over him as he rested his head against the shower wall and cried.
Rai headed back to the bar without a word, lost in thought as he went over what he'd forced the ram to tell him. He hoped, in hindsight, that he hadn't somehow injured the Card, though it was frustrating to have to use such strong arm tactics to get the explanation out. He shook his head in annoyance as they re-entered the bar. He waved a hand at the bartender and snorted in further frustration to see that their table had been taken during their absence.

As he entered the bar, all matters of the previous experience with the ram were pushed out of his mind. The nicely crowded, smoke filled atmosphere had the mouse relaxing. There was a small irritation at finding that their table had been taken but considering how the two of them had abruptly rushed off it could not really be taken to any surprise, he supposed.
Coming in closer behind the equine he gave his back a good nature pat before gesturing off to their left and toward another booth that was currently having its occupants stumble none to gracefully from its seat. "That one should do nicely." Taking initiative he started off toward it first to ensure they were able to nab it.
As he sat down he caught the attention of one of the barmaids as she turned away from a table and motioned for her to come take care of their order.

Rai gave a low snort but followed after his shorter friend anyway. He sat down a bit heavily, as though suddenly tired. He waited until the woman had come and taken their order for more of the same, before dropped his head into his hands and tried to gather his thoughts into some semblance of order yet again.
Surprisingly, the dull roar of the bar, smoke-filled and brimming with the drunk and those trying very hard to get there, made it easier for him to clear his mind. He had been, he admitted to himself, a trifle harsh to the strange Spade, but he couldn't forget that look, that strange, strange look. A shiver threatened to shake him again, but he forced it off as the waitress came up with two mugs. She handed one to the mouse and carefully set the other beside the stallion's head then took herself back off.

The mouse gave a charming grin to the barmaid as she came over to take their orders on drinks for the remainder of the evening before trotting off and quickly returning. That was a good thing about the service here, very prompt. Left no man tapping his fingers, while he waited to get drunk.
He took a good swig of his drink, closing his eyes to savor it. After all that adventure there was nothing better. Dropping his hand down to rest the mug on the table he tilted his head to the side slightly as he eyed his friend.
It was only a moment of thought before the mouse was in action. Leaning down low against the table he moved one arm slowly forward, careful not to catch the attention of the canine nor make a sound. When his arm was extended to the right distance he reached forward with one clawed finger and gently poked his friend. Pulling the finger back he then reached forward again to repeat the action.

Rai listened to the steps moving away, fading off into the general chatter of the bar. He was working on convincing himself that the beer would make the situation better, or, at least, easier to handle, when he felt something poke into his arm and then let off. And then poke again and release.
"Ader. . . I know that's you." His voice, muffled as it was, still sounded exceedingly wry. Nevertheless, the stallion lifted his head from the table to take hold of his mug and quickly threw back a swallow. It didn't actually make the world a better place, but it did encourage his mind to mellow a bit more.
"Well. Wot were we talking about before?" At this point he couldn't recall what they had been discussing before the whole incident with the ram. It was probably a better thing to think about than the Spade.

When his friend lifted his head off of the table and proceed to attempt downing the whole contents of his mug in one go, the mouse could only grin as he sat back in his chair. "Just making sure that you had not go and left this world"
Taking a quick sip from his mug he tapped his claws against the tabletop as he tried to recall what it might have been that the two of them had been talking about before the . . . adventure.
"You know, I do not think that I am able to recall wot it was." He gave a little shrug tossing the matter of forgetting to it having held no importance and a great deal of alcohol. "Though I think I remember something about the idea of getting drunk. Wot you think?"
Getting drunk, as usual, sounded like a grand idea.

"At this point, that sounds like the only thing that really makes sense." Shinrai fought the urge to sigh again, instead lifting his half-empty mug in an ironic salute to Aderlass before tossing back the rest of the glass' contents. He glanced over to the bar to signal the bartender yet again and soon the pair of them were well on their way to the desired state. In the back of his mind, the ram's words kept repeating, however, and Rai fought the frantic feeling that strove to claw its way up within him.
He was pushing himself too hard. He'd slipped out of the Court of Heart for a brief vacation and was now back at the bar, in bipedal and becloaked as a Queen of Hearts. And he was utterly worn out. He tightened his left hand, keeping it carefully hidden from view as well as his hat tilted down over his right eye. He took himself very carefully into a back corner and signalled for a beer.
