Colin blinked slightly at th laugh. Had he said something dumb? He hoped not, but there was nothing for it at this point other than continuing the conversation in hopes of getting something less...vague. "Ah, I see," he said, nodding. He did recall the proclaimation, though at the time he had mostly ignored it. "Well, the problem with that is...I'm not sure how the nobles would take to me nosing around the Court. Not that I would be, but they might see it that way if I ask too many questions. Especially since I hear the current Queen is a bit...harsh." He'd also heard she was part Villa, which intrigued him as much as her Yarrow side worried him.
He laughed dryly at the mouse's remark. "You could say that. There some of us who think only music should qualify as true Art, since it's the highest...according to them. Personally, I enjoy a wide variety of creative endeavors," Colin explained. "And I think there's a certain type of Art in many things people don't typically think of. Swordplay, of course, being one of those, both in the make of the weapons, which can be quite elaborate, and in the actual fighting." He took another bite of the apple, settling a little.
"Wise advice," the cardinal said thoughtfully, slowly, looking up for a moment. "Maybe that's what I need..." A faraway look came into his eyes, as he thought about it. What if he were to take a vacation? Where would he go? What would his mother say?

"Asking questions is sometimes a cause for alarm. But now that we're acquainted I suppose you can use me as an excuse to visit the palace. I can only answer some questions to the best of my ability of course. " The mouse shrugged. The bird seemed like a trustworthy sort, if he wasn't... well how hard would he have been to deal with? He didn't seem the time to organize an assassination. "I could never tell you about the noble affairs since even I only hear about them in rumors."
Ah. Debates. What was Art? What was True Art? It was the same debate about honor that he had many times with members of his family. In part it was the reason why he left his region. Debates always left someone out in the cold. Not that being cordial and polite for the sake of it did it much better.
Ichigo continued to eat his orange. He paused, fishing around in the bag for a set of bottles. It took a few moments for him to produce something. He offered one to the cardinal, "Bottled water?"

Colin inclined his head slightly, showing the mouse he hadn't meant anything by his imple curiosity about the court...which was really all it was at the moment. "Of course, I understand," he said, smiling. "And thank you for the offer. I just might want to come visit you at the Court sometime. I imagine even a Queen such as that would understand a desire from Spades without aspirations of joining to still see their Court, and know about those that run their Suit." In fact, now that he put it that way...a Court visit made a lot of sense. After all, how could they take pride in something they'd never really seen and leaders they knew nothing about? Hmm.
He didn't mind a bit of silence, still watching the clouds contemplatively as he thought about a possible vacation. He'd always wanted to go to the Highlands...REALLY go there, not just pop in and out with some delivery for a pretty but airheaded and selfish Highlander who wanted some of his mother's fabric. He was snapped out of his thoughts by Ichigo's voice. "Hm? Oh! Thank you very much, Ichigo, that would be lovely." He accepted the bottle and, after a bit of finegling with his beak, got the lid off and took a sip. He closed his eyes contentedly. "Hmm, Ichigo, I really appreciate you sharing your lunch. I wish I had some way to pay you back...besides just money, which seems somehow too...cold."

"I'm sure the Queen would encourage you to learn more of the courts. She seems to be making quite a few changes for the better, and public awareness can only improve things." He said with a small smile. The mouses ears fluttered as he listened to the surroundings. The bubbling of the fountain, the faint breeze, people talking all around them.
The mouse shook his head towards Colin's comment. "You don't have to repay me. Your company alone is payment enough. It's rare that I can appreciate a meal with some sort of company."
He popped the top off of his bottle so he could finally take a long drink now that his orange was finished. He set the glass down carefully inside his bag, pulling the strings closer so it wouldn't fall out if he shifted. "Or perhaps your payment could be another get together."

"Well. It would indeed," Colin mused, liking the idea of visiting the Court more and more. He doubted he'd meet anyone really impressive, although the fact that the Queen was part Villa gave him some hope that she would not look on him with scorn. Though...a slight frown crossed his beak as he thought of the dark marking on his chest. It was far too low. He'd be embaressed...so that was that, then. He would raise his rank and THEN visit the Court. He sipped at his water as the two sat in companionable silence for a moment.
Colin blinked at the mouse, surprised and somewhat flattered. "That is very kind of you, Ichigo, and I must say the same...rarely do I find such company on my excursions here."
He finished the rest of the apple and gave the mouse a grateful smile. "I'd be honored to have the joy of your company again," he said, with a slight incline of his head, and was somewhat surprised to find how much he meant it. A chance meeting had somehow led to a friendship, which both mystified and delighted Colin. Rarely did he find another Card he was able to get along with so well.

((OOC: ; uh, wicked sorry if this is cutting it short, but my Ichigo muse decided things without me. If you want to continue this thread we could do a time skip if you like? )) "Well then," Ichigo said as he put a cap on his water and put it in the bag. "I'm afraid I must be off for now. I have to meet with an old employer of mine. I wish I didn't have to cut this wonderful meeting so short."The mouse gave a small sigh as he pulled the string on the bag. He slowly slung it on his back. "If you need me you can send a letter addressed to me at the palace. I'll make sure to respond."The mouse hopped off of the bench, shifting his gear once again. "It really was quite the pleasure meeting you, Mr. Colin. I truly do hope we can arrange something again!" He gave the cardinal a small bow, before turning the other direction and departing. It was nice meeting normal people. It had been a while, though, he should probably get out more often...

"Of course," Colin said easily, nodding as the mouse made to leave. He tossed the apple core in the nearest trash can, smiling at the mouse in a friendly way as he got his things together.
"Thank you, I will either do that, or surprise you with a visit." He grinned to show he was mostly kidding. He was never really the type to come and see people without sending them prior notice. That could only end up with an embaressing social situation nine times out of ten, and it was not something Colin wanted to deal with, especially not at the Court! A small shadder ran through him at the thought of being lost and alone among so many higher ranked Cards, but he hid it by hopping to his feet.
"Likewise," he said, returning the bow. "My humble thanks for both the food and your company. Until we meet again!" He waved to Ichigo as the mouse turned away, sticking the water bottle in his messenger bag to finish later. It would be quite welcome on the long flight back to the Villa. After the grey form was out of sight, he spread his wings and took to the air, smiling slightly to himself. He'd actually made a friend, and a fairly well connected one at that, even if he WAS just starting at the Court. Today had been worthwhile.
((ooc: Actually...cutting it here is fine. What would you say to making a thread at the Court? I'm sure Colin will want to visit, though he may want to up his rank first. Which I DO have the points for, actually.))
