Watching the two lowlanders with a cautious eye, she turned to narrow her eyes at her brother. "How about you go tell them to hurry up?" She declared at him. Her tone was harsher then she meant it to be toward her brother but it truly had been a long day. Why in the world did it have to be her who put her neck on the line when things like this happened? Seriously.
Trot gave a bark of laughter at his floaty-friend's nickname for his fearless leader. "Come on," he whimpered playfully. It would be the best thing ever if he would play with him.
Not suspecting what his leader was planning on doing, he felt the pain suddenly. Letting out a high pitched yelp he dropped to the floor. Rolling from side to side he repeatedly brushed at his jaw with is front paws trying to push away the feeling. Tears leaked down, wetting his fur.
It hurt!

“Because,” Vishne said, quietly, a quiver a fear running through his voice. Venka should know it had to be her. “Because if I go in there they’ll cut me all apart with knives and fry me up and then eat me, poof, no V, you’ll be twin-less and alone. But if you go, you can bully them into leaving. Please, Ven? I wanna go.”
He thought about throwing in some kind of neat bargaining tool like offering to do her chores for a month, but they didn’t have chores, unless “staying the fuck out of Mommy’s way” was a chore. Cleaning the apartment was a fundamentally futile task, forced upon them only as the direst of punishments.
He was thrown completely out of contemplation by Trot’s pained noises. The stupid man had hurt him! Vishne felt some kind of righteous indignation. That was vile. That was like slapping a retarded infant. Only people like Mom did things like that.
He ran over to Trot and threw himself at the rolling canine in a hug. “Stop, you big jerk!” he wailed at Zeus.

Se tossed his head in further disgust. "Either name a price, old man, or tell me someone who has or can make wot I need." His belief fell with Ira's and when his eldest brother made that judgment, he immediately took the young stallion's side.
Niklaus glared at them both in further disgust. "The weapons I make are treasures," he began quickly, obviously close to getting himself worked up. He didn't have a chance to, however.
"A price to kill the Queen of Hearts or we walk." Se spoke with sudden authority, his wings readjusting over his shoulders in a movement of pure boredom.
The old canine caught his breath for a moment, contemplating this ultimatum. He slowly slid the dagger across the floor, closer to Se. "Touch it. Tell me if this is the one." It wasn't entirely clear if he was speaking to the weapon or the Card.

Ira was pleased to see Se resettling into the role of leader, and he let his youngest sibling take it without a fight. For all that his brother was rather off in the head, he still knew exactly what he was looking for and Ira would leave him to it. He flicked an ear towards the door and drifted over that way, sticking his head out briefly to look for the twins. His eyes narrowed when he realized there was no one in sight out there.
Zeus gave a low growl, reacting without hesitation. CRACK! The sound of flesh hitting flesh broke through the air as the Doberman Pinscher backhanded the boy right off of the whimpering Lowlander.
"Where do you get off?" he snarled at the child. "You have no powers and no rights here. It would do you well to remember that."
The ghost swarmed in his view, but he ignored the thing as he strode threateningly towards the young canine.

She saw what was going to happen a moment before she could do anything to prevent it. "Vishne!" She called out both in fear and as a command.
Hearing the 'crack' of flesh hitting flesh Venka cringed before flying into action. How dare he! No one was allowed to hit her brother but her and her mother!
Springing forward she placed herself between her brother and the lowlander. She could not find the words to spring back at the man so she stood there glaring at him instead.
Trot was still rolling around in the patches of brown grass, whining pitifully as he fought off the pain that racked his jaw. He had watched though as his leader had struck his new friend. There were many times in the past that Zeus had struck him but he always deserved it, why was he then striking the boy.

Vishne recoiled from the force the blow, and then shunk back further with a whimper. He didn't have the strength or courage to fire off a retort, let alone fight back. He tried to curl himself into as small a ball as possible, a defensive fetal position that would really be quite useless against the Lowlander but made him feel just a tiny bit better anyway.
He was vaguely aware of Ven stepping forward, seeing her yellow form through a wet haze of tears, and he held out the dim hope that his infinitely more capable twin would be able to beat the vicious Lowlander into a bloody pulp with naught but her hooves and sheer force of surly attitude.
He wondered if Trot put up with this kind of abuse on a regular basis, and the thought made him deeply sad. Zeus was almost as mean as Mommy.

Se didn't hesitate, however, instead reaching out and immediately taking possession of the weapon. Pupilless green eyes narrowed suddenly, and he turned the dagger over in his paw. A shudder seemed to wrack his system and he balanced himself up on his hindquarters so he could very gently stroke it. "Yeessssss," his words, voice, very demeanour seemed evil. "This is it."
Niklaus cowered back from the sound of the Yarrow's statement. He didn't even realize he was doing so. If he could have clearly seen the boy's face, he might have fled the room.
"Name your price, old man," Se growled. "Ira will pay it. Don't try to cheat me, or you will be the first to fall after my father." His purple-tipped tail lashed with his inner agitation again.
Niklaus swallowed hard. "The. . . The Queen is your father?" the words nearly came out a whisper, despite the Lowlander's attempt to sound confident.

Ira didn't turn until Se said his name and he smiled darkly when he saw the dog tucked in on himself as though it could save him from the winged hybrid's attention, especially after he'd gone to so much trouble to get Se's notice.
Ira's ears flipped backwards in amusement at the Lowlander's question. "Wot, you were unaware that the magnificent Queen of Hearts had procreated? Rumour says he has quite a few children, actually. Se's his youngest." He let that sink in for awhile; the Queen of Hearts' youngest son was plotting to kill him. "Name your price, cur. Se, go find our siblings."
The Doberman laughed suddenly, the sound harsh and cruel. "Oh, please. The little girl is going to try and attack me now? I eat your type for breakfast." He snarled the last words with a sneer that showed all of his teeth.

Venka's ears went back at his comment. She did not really have any intention of challenging the male in truth. Though she liked to act tough she was not really that stupid to know when she was out done.
Snorting, trying to act braver than she was, she lifted her nose in the air. "Come Vishne, we are done here." She turned on her tail and started to walk off, giving her brother one glare to make sure that he followed. Her other brothers could just go back home on their own.
Trot had stopped rolling so viciously from side to side in attempt to get rid of the pain. Simply laying there, tears running down his cheeks his paw making attempts to rid of the pain at larger and larger intervals between.
With a whimper he watched as his new friends started to walk away.

Of course killing the Lowlander was beneath his sister's dignity! She wouldn't waste her time killing some stupid man. She had better things to do. Like get Vishne home.
He slunk after her without a moment's hesitation, all hunched and scrunched up like the terrified thing he was, his tail tucked quite firmly between his legs. All he needed to do was follow Venka to freedom. He felt just awful about Trot, though. Maybe they should try to take him with them? Daddy hated Lowlanders and Mommy wasn't particularly fond of them but maybe Auntie Minh would turn him into an experiment or something. Have two extra tongues was surely a better fate than being stuck with Zeus forever and all time, right?
He abandoned the idea. That might involve confronting the big Lowlander for real. His mouth quivered sadly. Poor Trot. Maybe one day they would meet again!
