Vishne shrunk back, tail between his legs, as though trying to collapse into himself. His brothers didn't like him, and around them, Venka was only likely to get meaner than usual. He had only seen the tip of the iceberg of unpleasantness, and he tried to brace himself for what was sure to be weeks upon weeks of abuse. Perhaps he should run away with kinder people, like demons.
He wished Ven had kept her mouth shut. And not called him a whiner in front of his brothers; they didn't need any more ammunition. Woe on top of woe, that's what his life was. As soon as they all realized how much they loved and needed him, he would fake a suicide. That would teach them.
He tried not to let his voice crack. "Yeah. We're going...we're going on an adventure. We thought the Lowlands...."

Se's stride paused-- some would say hesitated-- when he heard V's whining response and his ears flattened suddenly against his head before he pressed onwards without a word to his mass of siblings. So wot if the retarded twins were wanting to head to the Lowlands? It made no difference to him at all and he purposefully struck any strange similarities from his mind. The hardest part of this new knowledge would be keeping Ira from wanting to bring the two along with them. He had no use for the girl and boy; they would only get in his way.
He was distracted for a moment by wondering if he should let Xylia know he was going to be gone for potentially quite awhile. No, she might try to stop him. Probably the only sane bit left of him knew he shouldn't try to explain where and why he was going until after he got back and he could add a bit of a lie to it.

Well, well. . . if there was anything that could dissuade Se from his mad quest, it would likely be just this. Of all of their siblings, the twins were probably the only two that the yellow, winged hybrid could not completely slough off anymore. Even Eir was relegated to a different part of his mind. Or so it seemed to Ira from observing their interactions.
"Well, how fortunate for us all."
"Do not," Se's voice sliced through the air like a knife through well-cooked flesh.
Ira sent the other boy a long, flat look, ears forward and posture loose despite the tension arcing through the air between them. "Why, wot in all of the regions could you be so worried about, Se?" His tone was the same as before, though an edge of steel had crept into his voice to slice at the other boy. "We have an obligation to shelter our siblings as they go traipsing about in dangerous places unknown."

At her brother’s comment she sent him a glare over her shoulder. Honestly the male was just better with his mouth shut more times then when he opened it. You would think over the years he would have learnt that it was wiser for his health all around if he just did not talked. The poor wuss.
Turning her attention back to her brother she was about to reply to what he said when suddenly Se called out in a very firm tone. Raising an eyebrow she turned to look at him, her eyes clearly questioning. She was not an idiot and was not about to cause him to attack her – since she was more then aware that it was something he was extremely likely to do. However his out cry made no sense to her.
Turning her gaze to Ira she silently asked what was going on.

It sounded like the boys were going to be joining them. Ira was pulling some kind of familial obligation card, though as far as Vishne knew, no one in this family really genuinely cared about anyone else (self-centeredness and self-involvement seemed to be the main inheritable genetic traits that had been gifted to all seven of them). He considered calling bullshit on what Ira said and then immediately thought better of it. He was quite likely to get killed for that.
And Ira seemed to be egging Se on, and there was no way he wanted to get involved in that. Pushing Se's buttons was dangerous business. Why did all of his siblings have to be so completely and utterly unhinged? Why could none of them be nice and huggy and understanding, but not in a weird unbearably fey way like Iphis?
He stood back, and watched.

"You don't care about that at all," Se replied flatly. For once his mind seemed fully there, perhaps returned to him by the threat of having to shepherd any of his siblings around anywhere, especially somewhere as inherently dangerous for them as the Lowlands.
Based on looks alone, however, only Ira would be in immediate danger from any fanatics. The other three wore Yarrow Gardens colours; the teal colt was the only one blatantly Josiggy Marsh.
"All you want to do is distract me. It's not going to work." His tone was almost threatening, almost a challenge. His posture was stiff, tension in his frame and there was little question that he was more than willing to make their verbal spar turn physical. If anything, the youngest boy seemed to look forward to such a possibility. The yellow hybrid took a step towards his eldest brother, posture threatening.

Ira kept his own body loose and easy-going; there was no point in answering the challenge with bravado or bluster. Se would simply take him up on it and then they'd have to actually fight and that may or may not go well for the cannibal. No, it was better to not force the issue and not push at it. He set his face in a mask of just the right amount of interest and a great deal of 'Well, I certainly don't care'. The key with Se now was to not be overly concerned about whatever he was talking about. If you showed too much interest, the winged hybrid tended to get paranoid and rather worked up.
"We have an obligation to care," Ira pointed out with a small shrug of his shoulders, sending his mane twitching with the movement. "If something happens to them, Mommy dearest will take it out on us."

The canine-equine gave a long suffering sigh. Though she loved much of her family - something she would never, never, admit to anyone aloud - she found that most of them made her frustrated.
"Well it is a good thing that we are not asking for your help or even your company, now is it not." She retorted, wrinkling her nose as if the very idea appalled her.
Turning to face her twin she gave a motion with the jerk of her head for him to follow her. "Come on. If you are really going to run away then you need to do it before the sun moves any further across the sky."
Not really waiting for any reply from her brothers, she started off down the road again as if there was not a care in the road. In truth she was curious to see if the two would follow, or even accompany, them on their strange little trip.

It took only a moment of hesitation before he dutifully followed his sister. Venka would keep them safe, at least. He felt better having a girl tell him what to do--both Ira and Se were too unpredictable, and Vishne hoped that Se would continue being belligerent and not come with them, because that meant Ira would likely stay behind too.
"Yeah, I don't like the dark," Vishne muttered to himself. He pretended to, most of the time, of course, because liking the dark meant that he was a cool rebel kid and not childish at all (it was partially for that reason that he also professed to think that Ira and Eir's cannibalism was the most awesome thing ever when in reality the thought of nibbling on someone else's flesh made him want to vomit all over the place), but the idea of traveling at night, to the Lowlands of all places, made him want to cower under the covers and never ever come out.
He tried to muster up some cheer and managed to get out a "Later, bros!" to his siblings.
