Vishne was happy to see the attention deflected off them and onto their brothers. This was a much better place for it. Let them take care of the crazy knife-wielding Lowlanders and he could take care of the puppy. He felt that he was well-equipped to deal with the puppy.
"My brothers like to ruin all the fun too," Vishne told Trot, nodding sagely. They liked to ruin his fun, his day, his face, anything they could get their hands on really. The Eumeleia Life-Ruining Corporation, selling misery at discount prices, now operating in a city near you! Fun for the whole family. "That's why I try to avoid them all the time but they followed me and Venka here and they're totally crazy especially my youngest brother and they're going to get us all killed by your fun-ruining friend and being dead is going to suck."

Niklaus fell back in his blanket seat with a slight 'oomph'. "Well." His tone implied that he was perhaps a bit shell-shocked at the news. Still, he recovered quickly. "Well, well. That's a different type of stench altogether." He suddenly seemed very well-pleased with the situation. "Well, well, well. Well."
"Yes, well." Se snapped suddenly at the man. "Can we please move on to a new word? Better yet, let's just get to the *$(%ing point."
The Coonhound gave a low laugh. "Yes, yes. But with what shall you pay for this lovely dagger? I don't take &^$@s and giggles."
Se gave a low snort, "We're not stupid." Like this man was, his tone implied. "You don't see a pewter until we see the work."
The canine snorted in amusement now. "Fine, fine."

Ira watched as the man rose, but Se had things in hand for now, so he just left the other boy in control. He had nothing to add.
These little brats were stuck up for being in the wrong region, but that was hardly surprising in view of what these little horse dogs were. Little Yarrow Gardens, Hearts, and obviously ill at ease even in the edges of the Lowlands. He bet they came from a stuck-up family and were given pretty much anything they whined for. Zeus hated that.
"Then why the @$%% are you here?" He didn't care for any bull about just following someone into another region, particularly a socially unacceptable region known to be dangerous, without a very good reason indeed. He glanced towards Niklaus' house, ears shifting backwards for a moment in thought. The old dog could take care of himself against a kid; if he couldn't, then he deserved what he got.

Even though she was afraid of the knife wielding canine, she gave him a look of 'duh'. "I just told you. We came here with our two older brothers. They are in there" She pointed toward the hut again as if it needed to be pointed out again. "Why they came I have no clue." She gave another shrug. Seriously it did not seem like that hard a concept to grasp.
He gave a small whine, his tail giving a wag or two. "I know how that is. Zeus is always ruining my fun. And! He never wants to play any games with me. It is all really, really, really sad."
Suddenly a thought came to him. "But you will play with me, won't you frosting?" He gave the brightly colored canine and nudge with his nose. Leaning forward he whispered, "If you want, I know somewhere we can have real fun!"

Vishne could not fathom the existence of fun in the Lowlands, but Trot looked so enthusiastic and so convinced that he was sort of being lured in. Anything, he thought, to get him and his twin away from their mad brothers and these mad Lowlanders and this mad, mad world. If worse came to worse, he would spend some time tossing frisbees for Trot. It seemed like a much better bargain than staying here, where they would likely be killed.
"I think I would...like that," he said, somewhat uncertainly. He was a bit thrown by the frosting nickname. He had a sudden mental image of the Lowlanders around him smashing him to fluffy pulp and lovingly spreading him over a cupcake. He tried to shake the picture from his mind. Surely Trot was not intelligent enough to make frosting. "Lead the way?" He hoped Venka was game for this.

The old Coonhound disappeared from the room, back into some other part of the run-down old house, leaving Se and Ira to watch and wait for the man's return. Se's ears stayed back in a very unhappy position.
"If he runs, I'm going to kill him," Se's voice was low and harsh. His wings twitched as they waited, though Ira seemed entirely unconcerned about it. After a moment, the yellow hybrid began to pace uneasily. The dog either had what he needed or not. If not, then they needed to know soon so he could go where he needed to and now waste anymore time here. "Wot's taking him so long?" The equine/canine growled under his breath.
In the back room, really in his bedroom, Niklaus was carefully feeling through the drawers and secret compartments in his room to try and find the specific weapon he was looking for.

Ira flicked an ear towards his youngest sibling, a smile curling up the edge of his lip as he watched the other boy begin to pace unhappily. It was terribly amusing listening to the winged hybrid begin to mutter under his breath and the fact that the other boy obviously could not stand still. His ears pricked towards the bedroom yet again before swivelling backwards in his own thought.
Zeus was distracted from his near need to break the snotty little yellow girl's neck by the fact that Trot was STILL talking to the little *#(%ers AND the pair of them were already hightailing it out of there. "You *#(%tard!" he growled under his breath. It would kill the freakin' dog to just stay bloody put.
With one glance back towards the hut, Zeus growled under his breath and headed after his pack member with promises of death.

"Alright!" He said with a happy yip, leaping up with a bounce before turning to lead the way toward a little clearing next to the trees. This was going to be a lot of fun. He loved having new friends!
If he heard his leader's comment it was not apparent.
"How about we play tag?" He asked, waving his tail excitedly. "Or we can play fetch."
Venka's ears flicked back at her brother's following the lowlander. While it did not seem like the playful pup was going to eat her brother, she also found that she did not trust him.
She was also not sure what to make of it when the lowlander with the sneer growled and followed after the other two males. Left behind she glanced between her brother and the hut. Curses, she had no choice. She took up the rear following after them.

Vishne had a spare thought about Trot being the missing link between mere animals and sentient Cards. He appeared to have the playplayplay! mentality of most puppies, but presumably the capacity to reason. Maybe Auntie Minh could get a look at him one day, when she took a break from being nutters, and Vishne could be hailed as the discoverer of the most important scientific finding of their age.
But that was a line of inquiry for another time. For the moment, he was going to seize the rare opportunity to enjoy himself. He was going to play fetch with the puppy, away from his brothers and the other psycho Lowlanders, and if anything leapt from the bushes to eat him all up, Venka would take care it.
He grabbed a stick and threw it ahead of him. It didn't go far; he had a poor arm. But hopefully it went far enough.
